The .Smoke Shack

Thank you all for the kind words.
It means a lot coming from the people who understand how much work we all put into doing this, especially with still being so new to it.
I really appreciate it.:superhappydance:

It's feeling like another night of insomnia so I fiddled around in the tent of course.
I decided to implement a technique I've used in the past I like to call... gravity stress training (gst :))

I normally have a mixed variety of strains growing simultaneously, and the more I grow the more I realize I like large plants more than a lot of plants. Which basically means it's impossible for me to keep a net up 24/7.

To combat this, I've gotten used to taking a net and draping it over the plant (doubling it up on the thicker stems), slowly spreading the plant out in the direction I'm shooting for and then letting her sit that way for 24hrs. Once done, enough time has elapsed and enough pressure has been applied for the plant to "accept" her new position and not spring back up on me too badly.

It's worked in the past so I'm really hoping it turns out well this time because from the look of white widow #2 with the 7 week veg and how dense she is... she might just take up a little space for a "medium" size strain ?

I finally solved a big pet peeve of mine. I'm in and out of my room constantly at random times. Being in the basement I have to keep it pretty well lit to see anything so that of course makes a large issue for when lights are out in the tents as you can see here...
20200831_211857.jpg
Luckily I had an extra 25' of 8" flexible ducting left over, and thanks to a bong rip and stroke of genius I solved my issue.
20200831_212506.jpg
I placed 2 pieces of ducting in the roof access and 2 at the base of the tent.
The trick to solving my light leak issue was outdoor garbage bags.
I took 3 bags per run, one inside the other, made a secondary hole and used my flap ties to keep them slid in place over the first few feet of ducting exiting the tent.

It works well enough that with all my outside lights on, this faint glow...
20200831_212230.jpg
is the only light inside.

So, problem solved. I'm happy.
And bonus, I think it looks pretty freaking cool when the room is dark :punkrocker:

The good times keep rolling.
I checked on my germinating seeds and found a Blue Dream looking at me funny...
20200831_213413.jpg
So into her new home she went.
20200831_224355.jpg

If she turns out anything like the last one I grew (which I screwed up pretty badly...) she'll end up a large girl.
20200831_233155.jpg

Started the day receiving 5 fem/photo Gelato seeds from nirvana, fixed light leak issues and got a new seed in the veg tent.

Not bad for a Monday.

I got lazy last night so the Gelato went in a bucket this morning. Her tap root was at least an inch long. That seed definitely took off quickly.

I managed to catch this moment of the blue dream.
20200902_220550.jpg
So probably some misting overnight to help toss the shell when she's ready.

I've had a crappy run trying to germinate one of my gorilla glues, so I decided to scrap it for a freebie I got from Attitude with my last order.

We'll see if I can get her to pop over the next couple of days.

Scooted everything together since I won't have another plant in there before ww#1 is done.
20200902_221208.jpg
And even though it goes against everything I believe, I think I'm going to thin out the center of ww#2 tonight.
20200902_221221.jpg
I normally only do a thinning of large fans leaves from the center on day 21. No other defoliation unless a large area is covered.
But, even though I have great airflow and RH has been in the low 50's, I'm still getting a considerable amount of moisture buildup on leaves just because there's no breathing room even with her stretched out.

So, a trim on day 9 it is then...
I'll post pictures once completed.

Yeah.
More leaves had to go than planned on ww#2....
I'd forgotten how many times I'd topped this thing. Every time I'd cut a leaf there was a new stalk behind it.

Looks like hell now, but on a few days should bounce right back.
I'll do a touch up and lollipop around day 21.

I felt frisky with the scissors so I cleaned up ww#1 a bit.

Finally got the veg tent filled.

ILGM OG Kush (auto/dirt), ILGM Blue Dream, Nirvana Gelato and an Expert Seeds Zkittlez Glue under the cups.

GDP and WW2 are having a race. I love this phase. They've had around 4-6" of growth over the last 72hrs :)

Lights are @ 1k/650w @ 16" giving me around 20k-23k lux penetration to the 3rd nodes.
The spread is extremely even between the lights due to the 1kW being in the much larger hood.

I'll probably take advantage of that and use the smaller hood for finishing along with my 24" UVB light and possibly the CMH bulb during the last couple of weeks.

If you haven't noticed, I like to change things around. A lot. Constantly...
I decided to utilize my open space and available ballasts/bulbs I've collected, and managed to drop the flower tent down to 1400 watts and get a much better coverage and (what I'm hoping), much better yields.

Large hood- 1kW hps @ 500w.
Small hood- 600w hps @ 400w.
Side lighting- 1kW hps @ 500w.

20200909_025849.jpg
I went with a 1kW bulb in the large hood due to the fact that a 600w bulb is just way to tiny for a reflector that size. I did the same for the side lighting to give it more length/spread.

I'm pleased with the results. Lux is upwards of 35k all the way to the top of the buckets now and you can see the light reflecting off the bottom leaves and tossing shadows, so no more lollipoping for me :)
(sorry about the quality)

The granddaddy purple has made it clear she's going to outgrow both white widows, so it was musical chair day in the flower tent. The GDP now has her own side.
Took the opportunity to take a look @ colors under somewhat regular light. (Just watered)

I have a feeling I know which plant I'm submitting for September pic of the month. But not until she's further along :) (white widow day 42)
