THT's Random Trees 12/12 from Seed

THT

In Bloom
Hey all, Figured id start a journal here for my current random grow. Every now and then I take some time to look through my old seed stock of freebies and randoms. Don't laugh, a lot of these strains aren't the latest greatest newest hottest over wanked varieties everyone likes to see, but that's mostly why they've sat in storage for so long. This time I decided to run the following
Critical Bilbo (freebie)
Nepal Jam (ACE)
Misty Kush (Nirvana)
Kali Mist (Serious)
Orange Creme (Grower in Oregon)

The setup I use in this 2x4 tent is 5gallon DWC, Mars Hydro TSL2000 and botanicare grow and bloom. When running reg seeds I try to put 8 sprouts in to end up with 4 girls, sometimes this works...

Nepal Jam was all males, but one very short stocky Nepal leaning expression gave enough of a good impression for me to do a little chucking. He was isolated, harvested for pollen and then sent to compost bay 1. pic was taken after he had a few days of darkness and stretched out a lot.

This left the random tent with 4 females, Critical Bilbo on the left in its own 5 gallon, Kali Mist, Orange Creme and Misty Kush all packed into another 5 gallon on the right.
here they were on 8/27

and here the are a few days ago
20200908_201517.jpg

Critical Bilbo is a monster of a plant, 2 ft tall and 2 ft wide. I probably should have defoliated a bit more, crazy amount of thick pistils. Terps are a bit hashy and chocolaty so far, but trich production isnt great.

20200913_153016.jpg

Orange Creme is the stretcher of the group. Smell is citrus and meh, I don't have a whole lot of high expectations here.
20200913_153022.jpg

Kali mist just started flowering in comparrison so ill wait few weeks before really talking about it.

Misty Kush is.. well... just what I would expect from most any Nirvana strains.

Everybody got a taste of Nepal Jam's Wang Dust. If anything, the seeds will just become something I have to fit into the random tent rotation cycle

until next time. :stoned:

I think I have heard of the Jam, having silly notions, while reading up on Reunion.

I heard that Kali M can lift your shoes off the sidewalk a bit. Looking forward to seeing that.

Me thinks you have a thing for those long winded, slender ladies , T.
12 weeks of 12's is the longest I ever courted a cougar. :):sneaky::unsure::partyparrot:

Here's a look at what else is going on
I've got three plants squeezed into a 2x2 under a few LED's about 250 ish watts.
20200908_201441.jpg

Inside I've got two expressions of bhodi's terpenado
#1 is leafy but chonk with a great piney funk, loud and interesting - reminds me a TON of Tennessee Kush on the nose. Still getting used to the botanicare nutes and i burned em a bit. they handled it fine and continue to beef.
20200913_152926.jpg

#2 expression is much better structurally, very similar on the smell with a bit of added fruit to the mix - looking forward to trying these
20200913_152932.jpg

Finally the stretch monster you could see in the first wide shot - is a GPS Cackleberry F2. After spending a long time experimenting with the Columbian gold (world of seeds) x Cackleberry crosses - working a particular selection down to F4 - I decided to go back to the source and do a little breeding project once more. This particular expression is common in the Cackleberry F2's so far, unruly immense stretch and tons of small buds. My goal is to find some expressions with superior structure and speed, the Cackleberry is one of my all time favorites from GPS.
20200913_152909.jpg

I've got three fairly different male Cackleberry expressions that I plan to use for the project, and my plan is to hit my best female F2 with each one , then run a full tent of each offspring to determine the winning F3 which ill then use in a similar process to make a large quantity of F4 seeds. Ill get some pics of the cackle stuff as it progresses, for now, ill leave off with a pic of the winning Dirt Stick F3 from last round.

Next topic is the Haze. THE HAZE. The stuff you could find in and around NYC in the early 2000's. Some sources say its still out there today.
500$ an ounce. sometimes more.
The best weed I have ever had - hands down.
The most unique and rewarding smell and taste.
The most identifiable and desireable smell in all of the cannabis world
I've been searching for the Piff in seed form since I started growing.
Then one day - there was hope. Top dawg released his Uptown Brown strain. I thought... "this could be it" and at ~200$ a pack I went for it.
.
.
What a let down.
There was one expression among the ENTIRE pack that bore a slight resemblance to the mighty Piff in all its glory.
We call it "Great-Value Haze" If you don't get the joke - Great-Value brand is the shit knockoff of every name-brand out there that I think walmart carries.
Overall it was a fine plant, but when you are expecting gold - and receive pyrite - it can only be a let down.
It was always drooping.
Did I smoke it all -- well yeah, but I am still salty.
It went from this
20191023_145437.jpg

to finishing like this
20191213_154115.jpg 20191213_154103.jpg 20191213_154128.jpg

Her better looking sister didn't have much in the way of smells or flavors that I was after.
20191221_133455.jpg 20191221_133447.jpg

Still though, what did I do about it? Well I F2'd each of females (Five in total I think) and I used three different males to chuck F1's of a ton of different strains. I have a serious collection now of Uptown Brown Crosses.

What strains did I cross with Uptown?
Sweet Seeds- Sweet Amnesia Haze 20191109_163952.jpg 20191109_164049.jpg
Mr. Nice- Super Silver Haze 20191109_164007.jpg
ACE - Panama land race (pink pistil pheno) 2020-01-25.jpg 20200128_111637.jpg

Greenhouse Seeds - Arjan's haze #3
Swami - NL5/Haze F5 sativa pheno
Crockett - Lemon Banana Sherbet
Crockett - Tangie
THT - Dirt Stick
THT - CackleBerry F2

If there's more that I am forgetting ill edit here later.

The first one we dove into was Super Silver Haze X UTB - which we called Super City Haze. All expressions took after the mom, there wasn't really much of an influence at all from the UTB male. They were big and pretty but nothing special in my book. 20200301_172110.jpg

The next was Tangie x UTB (using male #2). The result was slightly better - but simply because Tangie is such a stellar strain and ALL of the 6 females had just about the same expression. Structurally one was a bit more like the uptown, everything else benefited from a weight increase.
Ignore the empty TP roll - these pics were for a grow comp at another forum.

I like to also point out that the 12/12 light cycle from start to finish allows a full grow to take place sometimes in just 3 months.
The Tangie X Uptown grow started on 4/03 and ended as you see above on 6/29. Yield was 440G under the Mars Hydro TSL2000 at about 300 watts, maybe my best gram/watt ratio to date.

and a reminder that here I am in the same tent 2.5 months later. I was lazy about resetting this tent so a few weeks went by after harvest before I had new seeds down.

Hi. I’m Jag, I too also am hunting for some old school haze. Let’s be friends. I am looking for something as ammoniated as possible. Cat piss is what we called it. I have heard there is an AK Bean Brains pheno that expresses that aroma, but I would like to hear from someone who has run it before I dedicate half a tent to it... have you found Anything that would fit the bill yet? I am running a Banana Split x ON Haze (original Neville) that presented the aroma, but along with other things..I’m really looking forward to following along.

What strains did I cross with Uptown?...

Wow, nice choices for pairings! I don't think I've ever had a proper Haze representation, but I'll bet there's some crazy potential in there for those willing to ride out the flower times!

Speaking of, I've never gone 12/12 from seed, but I've been thinking about it lately, with a gap in between my veg plants, and open space in flower, at the moment.
Do you just do one plant per bucket, or multiple?
I feel like mine would turn out to be budsicles, so I'd want to plant a few per bucket, but yours certainly look to have filled out nicely, so I figured I'd ask a little more about how you do things. It would definitely make those long flower times seem a lot more bearable!
Keep up the good garden, and let us know how that Haze hunt goes....

when its regs - which its almost always regs - 4 plants in one 5 gallon bucket. It takes some work to keep them from overgrowing each other but its worth it in the end to see more plants for me.

how you do things

The strain decides a lot about how it grows in these conditions. Straight up hardcore indica plants do not fare as well because the flip into flower so fast from a seed, however, you'd be surprised how big they still get. I'm not doing anything special, I just give the plant good/decent conditions and let nature do its thing. People seem to think they will end up with an 8 inch tall plant and a gram of yield but I rarely if ever get anything under 40 Grams from a single plant (even heavy indica), sometimes get 120 grams or more on a single plant.

Been a while since I've had anything that was cat pissy.
The closest I have found to the classic Cat Piss terps is probably within the amnesia haze. The NL5/Haze and Arjans are really woody and metallic, while the uptown and super silver are sweeter/fruitier/funkier and not as loud. Some of the super city ladies were offensive to the nose but not on the ammonia side.

Good to hear man! I'll definitely start some early flowers, from seed, to see what happens. First will likely be some chem/og crosses, but also have some Golden Tiger, Sativa heavy crosses to try too. I've gotten less than a couple ounces per plant with months of veg with seed plants, so I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with seedlings through flower!

Came by to drop off some more goodies again. At the moment these just don't belong in my garden. I wanted to show you Two Sour Tangie males that I have grown side by side.
Yours is in the eggnog container ,,store-bought Crockett is the Chapmans Icecream.
20200927_152252.jpg

I found yours to be superior in most ways. It began to branch immediately. It went wild when I topped it and there has to be twice as much foliage on that thing.
20200927_152318.jpg

He has the stank, compact, and polluted with leaf,, I cant seem to cull it or keep it.
