I am chasing the little pricks myself. At least they dont bite.

I think i am going to grab a bag of play sand to put on top of the pots. I need another fan too.

Yellow stickies, fans, peroxide wash and i had a veg tent being all gnattty so i sprayed them down with safters defender and they were gone overnight.
I will win...and i switch to coco or stop overwatering soil.....50 50 right now.

I am on my second or third round now gnat free in coco. I think it was @Dbear( thank you)that i got this info from but not positive. When transplanting the plants i put approximately a inch of media then sprinkle approximately a tablespoon of mosquito bits on top of that. I then sprinkle the same amount on the top of the media. Point of this is not much sense closing the front door if you leave the back door wide open  . Once a week i give the plants a good media soak with recharge and i also have BTI in that same mix for any larvae that may have developed. The BTI is mixed in the solution 24 hrs prior to application. I have continued use of the yellow sticky's but have not seen much activity on them lately. Hope this helps for all fighting the fight.

BT kills them

There are two basic types of BT one for fly types and one for worm types. Use both.

Dunks and bits= fly types. Crumble and mix into potting soil 2" below surface

Thuricide = worm types. Mix 1 teaspoon per gallon with whatever you water.....the next three times.

Infest will be done in 2 weeks and for the remainder of the grow. Yellow sticky traps help to reduce the fliers during that time.

I only grow in dirt/promix and this works like a muckerfuther.

@Willie i did not realize there were two different types maybe that is why i am experiencing success now. I kind of thought they were the same thing. Whatever the reason i am glad to be rid of those critters.

Yup, and the worm type is devastating to the larvae, much better than the dunks although they also kill larvae also. Any sprinkling of the dunks on the soil surface is a waste of time and money. BT won't last 24 hours like that, but under the surface it will work for weeks.
I will re-use my dirt twice and I find that I usually don't see any gnats the second round at all. And that's without further treatment! Like it's BT innoculated or something.....whatever, it's damn effective :)

I suggest to apply mid range in veg room/start-mid of flower. So if you have both vegroom and bloom, apply larvae predators and adults + yellow traps at such date. Reason why I say use it at mid range of veg 2-6 weeks and apply same time have two rooms (veg/flower) to save you cash and have a IPM fpr such the whole cycle.

I deeply suggest overpopulation what they suggest cause cost of the bug/predator is cheaper than their 1 day shipping . Example the 50ml of nematodes vs 250million is less than 2.t price. The 250 million version u can make a 50 gallon the most concentration and apply to both roaks and guratee the fungus gnats and thrips are def fucked. I saw when I got infected heavily a few cycles ago it killed em off within 24-72 hours = zero fliers and a week later my new yellow traps showed less than 5 flies per trap.

Larvae stage of Fungis gnat killer and prevent for 4-6 weeks: Nematodes, key is don’t buy off of certified sellers and make sure the wholesaler is alive and a legit seller of such. I omly get that from bug wholesalers and price compare the legit brands for killing fungus gnats (nemasys )

To be a IPM on fungus gnats + many medium based pests, rove beetles are the best since many environment or temps make predator mites not as efficient at kill count or reproduce as quickly. Example a person running vpd in higher room = def lowers mite count of production and activity .

rove beetles are only suggested in greenhouse and indoors cause they tend to run off after eating outdoors and you’ll lose the efficient %. If you over apply per square feet ( like I like to get the 5oo-1k count) I can apply both rooms and still see rove beetles next season even if I have t been growing for the summer.

I premake my soil in a 27 gallon commander tote (living soil...perlite...some gaia veg)....

And i add 4 or 5 million nemotoads and 1/2 cup neem and karanaja cakes and leave it for a week or so before i start up potting it.

IPM sprays too...but they are under control and during visual inspections i no longer find thrips or gnats. If any show up they can not survive...ipm...neem...karanja and the nemotoads fix them.

And keep up on it.

i have dunks and i will leave them as a last resort...the natural way is working now that it has traction.

I'm still doing great with crumbling up dunks & mixing em in with my ss#4. Haven't had any bugs or sprayed anything in a really long time. Wasn't sure if it would be an issue in my new room as it's more centralized in my house but so far so good. We'll see if that's still the case once bugs are more out n about again in the spring time.

My opinion ok.

I've found the most efficent gnat deterant is moving air.
Im anal about fans, in my flower room that is 9x12 i have 4 - 16" oscillating fans and 2 - 8" fans blowin across the top of my containers.
Keeps top of soil drier and if a gnat should make it in my room it gets the biggest blow job he ever had and never gets a chance to reproduce.
Just my 2 cents.

I would say scope your plants very well too...i thought i had gnats for a long time and they were thrips.

Thrips are a bigger pita. I used 2 different benny bugs.....got to a finish and then cullled out and reset.

I hates em

Thrips move fast but you can tell by the leaf damage.

They are really small....look like a maggot with tiny little black eyes while they eat the sap out of your leaves.

They will stress your garden to seed right up....reduce your yields and fill your weed with thrip shit. No fun.
