Tips for cooling down grow tent?

I realized, belatedly, that my grow tent temps are well into the 80s. Anyone have some tips on the best way to drop the temp several degrees without adding an AC? One tent is a 3/3 and I'm running a 4" fan. I have a 6" fan I could run if I pick up some 6" flex duct, would that seem likely to be helpful? On the tiny 2x2 tent I have a smaller 4" fan and I could move the better 4" fan over to that one.

I've had the larger tent with the fan sucking air out, feeding it into a charcoal filter. The first thing I tried was reversing that and blowing cooler room air in at the top of the tent, but a short time later the tent measured 93. Yikes! So I flipped it around to suck air out again. I can't leave the tent open, got cats that wander into the room and with the way things are setup I can't cut off their access. One plant is on the 9th week of flower and she's showing the effects, so I'll cut her in the coming days and take what little I'll get from her. Oh yeah, I also turned down the light a little as well, to 800 or so on the PPFD app on my phone. I gotta get this figured out somehow.

Add an intake fan. Make sure the cfm is significantly higher on the exhaust fan to keep negative air pressure and control smell.

I think vevor had a 6" inline fan for like 55$. Won't beat that price.
I also use some cheap 4" fans that work, vivohome or some weird brand like that from Bezos. Seen it listed under different brand names, same fan.

The 4" tent on the smaller tent is an intake fan. How'd it work if I used that on the larger tent, with a 6" fan pushing air in?

Control the temp outside the tent and you control the inside temp.
Yeah, but the only control I have for that is to cool the whole house. Even if I bought a portable AC, that part of the house can't handle that much more load on the circuit.

However...please just kick me. I was upstairs again and realized, here in mid-July, that I never turned off the heat mats on the floor of the tents. Go ahead and roast me, I have it coming.:hotpoop::flame:🤬

One way to battle heat is first to turn off all heat sources. Is it thermostat controlled? That’s a good one though lol. I exhaust everything outside and run lights at night. I’m still fighting high temps and was thinking of a 6” hepa filter and fan to pull in the cold night air.
There is a window in that room...but I can't use it. The room in on the 2nd floor and the tent fills the entire alcove with the window, blocking it completely. And it's a casement window, so I can't just leave it open, rain and all that, and I can't open or close it without pulling the tent out completely. So that's not an option. Now that I have those danged mats turned off, I'll come back to the problem tomorrow.

BTW, through a U in your name and I'd think you live in Mizzou. I'm in the Ozarks.

Get rid of the tent they suck. 😂

I was gonna ask, are you seeing negative impact that you think is from the heat? They can take higher temps than you might think, with good airflow
Yeah, I am. Leaves are too light with brown tips, and poor bud production. This plant is Bubble Monkey from some tester seeds I got from a friend and this is the last of those beans. Perhaps this strain is less tolerant?

Without using more juice or moving your tent someplace cooler you're probably going to have to do the best you can. Keep lights on at the coolest times of the day, do your best to get that hot air out of the tent and keep good air flow.

It's why I don't grow inside during summer, too much heat. Maybe if I had a basement or a space that I could dedicated the whole room, it'd be different. In my experience tents in the summer with no ac, no bueno. Humidity might get to be an issue in a basement so a whole different set of problems. It's tough for the little guy who's trying to get by cheap to grow in a tent in the summer. I ran an ac for a couple months in one room to finish a grow and couldn't believe the difference in the energy bill, that was my last summer indoor. I'm blessed to be able to grow outside in the summer, something I'm grateful for every day.

Sometimes all it takes is an ask for help and the solution will show itself quickly.

Hope ya got it figured out best ya can for your girls.
