Lol basically think of it as a cutting, the nodal meristem or cutting was placed in MS Media. Most of the time a callus is grown from this point if you want to create multiple explants. The nutrition and mix of your pgr will determine rooting or shooting. In this case it is rooting. @SCJedi you may need to correct me some lol

I would add that the explants (micro cuttings) are surface sterilized so the resulting processes going forward must also remain sterile.

It's all shoots and roots from there.

@SCJedi that looks crazy.
1. What exactly am I looking at?
2. Is that a form of preservation?
3. Are you planing on growing a plant out of that root?

If so I got to see this.
Sorry I'm ignorant.
1) These are explants that have been bleached a d put into sterile culture. While you can only see the roots growing through the bottom of the deli tubs there is a small, healthy plant on top.

2) It could be done for preservation but I primarily use it as part of nursery programs to rotate mother (or father) stock with healthy disease-free plants.

3) Yes. Once roots like this are visible it can be planted but they must be acclimated since they've been living in 95% RH. Expect a couple of weeks of weaning it of high humidity condisions
