The fine folks at Trim Daddy provided a demo unit for me to review. This is a motorized trimmer, with multiple blade adjustment and a POT dial speed controller. It is a wired unit with a pistol grip. There are also two sizes of protective gloves for different sized hands. Very nice and sturdy carrying case.

The instruction booklet is very simple. There are three different blades but no description of the blades and what their intended purposes would be (coarse vs fine).

Smooth turning POT. Not too loose or too tight, you can use it with one hand while the other hand is holding the trimmer. Precision speed adjustments.

Here’s the lid off exposing the motor.

So far I’ve found this spot on the dial right before you dig into the big taller parallelogram about 5-ish to be one of the sweet spots. This may change as I gain more experience with it but for now it’s been a happy medium of sorts.

This is what I considered the coarser blade. Even at slower speeds look at it lop off the crown of that bud.

The next videos will show what I consider to be the finer blade.

Apprehensive at first, you think it would mow down the whole bud. It doesn’t chop deep into the bud even when pressing against it with the blade. The unit doesn’t vibrate much. I’ve suffered in the past from carpal tunnel syndrome and it doesn’t bother it. This would cut your trim time down to fractions especially if you’re going through a lot of product to trim. I can see where if you need a Bansai tree precision trim on a super dank indoor frost monster that some Chikimasa Scissors would be better. However if you don’t need that detailed of a trim this unit works very nicely.

The lid needs to be popped off to change the blades. It’s a bit cumbersome because when you pop off the lid, it almost pops off to anywhere and will fall to the floor. However it’s a nice sturdy snap in fit which ensures the lid won’t inadvertently pop off while trimming, exposing scissoring blades. If you drop the unit it keeps running, no safety feature there but also nothing to worry about chopping your toes up. Once the blade jams against something it stops so to speak and the blades themselves aren’t necessarily razor sharp.

The pistol grip allows for over hand trimming or underhand scoop style trimming. It’s a better design than a candy bar hair trimmer would be, better leverage angles. They put some thought and effort into the design.

Some future enhancements I’d like seen are:

- description of blades and intended use
- cordless. The POT dial can be on the side or perhaps it’s a smooth slide lever operable with your thumb

Overall I would recommend this unit to anyone wanting to significantly reduce their trim time and move onto other things. While not as precise as scissors, it definitely gets the job done especially if you have a lot to trim or can fit this in a two part process where the bulk of the bud is trimmed then passed off to the final fine scissor trim. It also really saved my hands from cramping up and having to take a break every now and then.

Thank you to @Sugar Pops420 for the lead and @StonednSuccessful from Trim Daddy for providing the demo unit for this review.
