every strain has a flower time - example 8 week harvest time - OK does that mean harvest the plant the 1st day of week 8 or the middle of or the end of week 8 / I know one useing a loupe or use trichomes (80% amber) or pistals (80% amber) end of week 8 works for me, Yea theere are a lot of variblaes the grower, enviroment, water, ect many years ago I did harvest on the 1st day of harvest week (many years ago)

What it means is each plant will be done when it’s done. You cannot rely on what a breeder or seed reseller states in the description, there are too many variables that impact the finish. I never harvest anything before week 9, and it’s usually week 10 when taken or sometimes longer. As Soma used to say, when you think they are done, wait at least another week.

No theyre not.you have to take into consideration plants dont start budding as soon as you flip.some are as late as 3 weeks so an 8 week strain turns into 11weeks..i use it as a guide only...but when i grow outdoors there times are pretty close to what they state as you count from bud onset outdoors and i do the same indoors..once they get to 8 weeks i will check with the loupe to see where they are at....

Also the flower time of a specific strain doesn't take into account any problems that might arise during flower. Little things, big things that cause stress can add days or weeks onto flower time. I too only use it as a guide. If you think they are ready and don't have a loupe to check trichs then wait another week... or two. That's how I was taught and it has never let me down.

I'll stick with the stretch calculator. It's pretty accurate give or take, depending on the NLD having a predisposition to extend flowering times well beyond weeks, they become months and sometimes up to four months.

I don't really rely though on the calendar much even though each cycle or month of the Moon is noted for keeping track of when I flipped to flowering even though those first couple weeks don't really count here.

For me it's all about late harvest windows and I like to observe uptake of H2O, it's always a good indicative of it being time along with the onset of senescence being preferred.

Time of flower is based on a sexually mature plant. That takes about 4 to 6 weeks, If you flip a plant that is sexually mature they generally finish in the range provided.

If your plant is not sexually mature it will delay the flower time a couple of weeks.

You can always get a particular cultivar that takes more or less time to ripen.

Flower times will lower with light timing (11/13 10/14) and far red 720+) with a 10 or 15 minute on and off time that before and after lights out. Both of those can shave a week or slightly better.

That an old saying that I go by myself "giver it a extra week it you want to harvest" commerical breeders have a perfect enviroment, nutes, ect and that right btere can affect flower times For many 100% sativas (panama Red) you germinate at 12/12 as your veg period for 3 weeks that after a 36hr dark time then you flip to light cycle of 14 hr dark /8hrs light till harvest this will shorten flower time so a 16 week harvest time can be reduced (the dark time before flip caused this) Believe there is method a called Green Latern / totyalty aggreee with you

I usually take everything 10 weeks minimum, so that I can be pleasantly surprised when something finishes early...or have a good idea of how much longer after week 10.
I've found most plants are not ready at 8 weeks from flip.
generally don't they say from 8-12 weeks - with the exceptio on some genetics that take 16 weeks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
