Mine is a FoodSaver V3460 it does have the soft seal button. The rolls of bag material from FoodSaver, are for me, to expensive, so U-line offers then much cheaper than I could find elsewhere for the 2 different widths of bag material, with shipping cost.
Thanks !! have mo idea about "vacum pack" will check out your recommendation - don't want tot spend too much miney - one person stated you need to spend atleast $70.00 - $100.00 (maybe I getsome ziplock bags and seal then suck extra air oput with a straw ?) seems like some "sealers" too much vacum turns pot into hash !!!!

Look who's late to the show, sorry. I've been using a Ziploc brand sealer for about 5 years. Nothing fancy, and yes, it will make hash if you let it.
There are so many models, I would simply make certain the unit has 3 operating buttons. 1 Stop, 2 Vacuum and seal, and 3 Seal. Set up the bag, hit button 2 Vacuum and seal, When you remove the desired amount of air, hit button 1 stop. Now immediately hit button 3 Seal. I, personally slide the bag down 1/4 to 1/2 inch, and hit Seal again. Double seals will waste another 1-2 inches of bag material at the very most. That seems cheap insurance against the wasted product if there were to be a leak.

I bought a vacuum sealer and ended up finding those Grove bag before we got a chance to use it. Those bags seem to do pretty good for long term(a year in our case) storage left unsealed. They are a bit pricey, but still probably cheaper and way more space efficient than Mason jars, which we were using before. They also seem to be doing just as good on round 2 of use.

I never really considered the oxygen absorbers, good idea. That site looks good.

So far I mostly bought on Amazon, it took me a couple years to get convinced. I mostly have bought the larger ones & cut them to size. I have some of the zip lock ones too, they work well if you don''t open them a lot but the plastic zips seem to break loose from the mylar at some point. When I got there I just cut off the zip & heat seal it.

I can fit a whole summer crop in a couple large igloo coolers, with our humidity swings the cooler insulation is a big help.

Mylar conceals the smell so dang well. I had an extra stinky Skunky VA that just reeked. Once sealed a human could not smell it. A real treat for the senses when you open it. I made sure I had a couple friends close by to watch reactions. :D

Watch the thickness of the bags when ordering. As I said I could not heat seal the super thick 7 ML bags with a Foodsaver but a hair straightener did the trick.
Been years since I've heard a peep from ya bro. Hope you're doing okay.
