I've set up a nursery in one of my tents to veg clones & seedlings while whatever is in my main tent finishes & as usuall I'm on a budget I would like to hear from anyone using budget priced q/b knock off lighting in the 100w. neighborhood 2 lights I'm considering are the vipar spectra & the mars hydro will have 6 plants under it in 1/2gal.pots these lights I think are 3500K I would prefer 400K but not absolute neccessary what are you using & how good is it working I'm wanting to dial in my perpetual set up 20210529_122602.jpg 20210529_122537.jpg 20210529_122529.jpg

I'm using 2 of these 110w QB. They work great and way cheaper than spider farmer. 63 bucks after 30% off discount. These are my two hindsight fems (wook stomper ×the whip) under the two qb at 57 days old.

My stuff is in a 3x3 tent but only using a 2x2 area was considering a q/b 65 but feel more comfortable with the 100 to replace my aging 4 bulb t-5 that has 1 socket burned out so it's a 3 bulb fixture & I'm always replacing bulbs although the plants like it

I've been vegging under a Mars QB and it works great. My only issue with the cheap QBs so far has been the penetration, which doesn't matter at all in veg.
Ya they don't penetrate for shit. I either have to keep the light super close or defoliate like crazy if i use my QBs for flower. I only use them for the first 2-3 weeks of flower and once they get through the stretch they go under about 470w of mixed leds. I've noticed i barely get a stretch with these QBs. They work better than any light I've used before for veg. I want to upgrade to their 200+watt qb though for the veg tent. It's $50 off right now. I get tired of using two lights for veg. I'm also wanting to upgrade to a single light for the 4x4 flower tent for my next grow later this summer. Something led and 500w or higher.

I've got 480w. of luminus cobs in my flower tent that I built by hacking a blurple Chinese led I'm right at 30w. per sq. ft. I would rather have it @35w. per sq ft but this is working

no diss but a lot of people overthink this aspect of when a light company states “4x4 or 5x5” coverage

yes the light can give you light at that range but….. look at the led/ led lab tests of the intensity or par meter test em yourself , it’s obvious when the 1-2ft away from peak or mid range buds and under it’s not above 750-900ppfd and a lot of the time 50% and that’s peak, no womder people think they can’t penetrate . you need to overlap your lights to make that main core higher light pppfd make all edges strong enough to be adequate on every brand from 2ft under canopy.

another key it’s not just de-leafing, it’s focused if you want those mid range to bottom to receive better light is to remove and choose the proper leaf instead of all leafs, so therefore plant can use the correct leaf to produce energy but not shade your buds also by removing the shaders , what I do is keep the plant where the light is and put my finger or look exactly is shading a good bud . I start by lollipopping a week-first day of bloom , meaning pruning all the bottom obvious core and and any branch that looks obvious it will be shaded and not worth the energy.

after stretch (10-21 days) continue to step 2 of de-leafing , relook at bottom and see what is worthy of keeping and remove any branches and leafs that are obviously not going to intake anything and are wasteful to have. at this stage this is the first stage to map where the bud items are and remove any larger leaf that is shading it

21-30 days, do same step as above

4th-end of harvest

keep removing any leafs covering buds, trust me they cover quickly what as a grower wants, for me at least I’m not growing and trying to have the most leafs for production, I want the buds

best thing I figured about de-leafing for me is to not butcher the plant and think it won’t come back, when you remove needed to energy it just stalls it, but there’s way more pro’s vs cons on removing big leafs and under canopy buds that are obvious they won’t ever pull to their potential

even if you already know this,a good tip for majority and there’s many guides that say butcher it

A lot of what you're describing here will be going on after they get repotted 20210602_191740.jpg 20210602_191820.jpg & put in the flowering tent under the cobs & I start filling the scrog my light is homemade I have no idea of ppf or ppfd it's a pair of hlg 240h-54 b drivers & 6 luminus 50v cobs using vipar spectra housing , heatsinks & cooling fans sandwich in the housing using a 3x4 e&f tub & 15 gal reservoir

I'm seriously considering paying a few extra bucks & buying an hlg qb 65 or 100 in 4000K as it will be beneficial over the 3500K for early stages of development , topping & training I really liked my t-5 until it burned out one of the bulb fixtures the downside I was constantly replacing bulbs 20210606_101944.jpg 20210606_101955.jpg 20210606_102000.jpg
