I simply use large plastic totes with lids. There are a few threads in the organics forum including mine, Roz's wasted wormery. Feel free to hit me with questions. I've been running mine for about 16 months, so I'm no expert but I've had no major problems yet. I purchased enough worms for 3 bins back then and now I have 11 bins without ever buying any more! You'll love it! I never worry about running out and in fact, I really need to find a market for my excess! Good luck...

I have mine inside where it stays 65 degrees F. They should stay above 50 and below 90 degrees. I will try putting a few totes out in my shop in a week or 2. I think they would be fine outdoors if they are out of the sun and protected from critters.
I will be watching this too. I would like to incorporate a few in ground bins but not certain it would be right for me. ?
By critters do ya mean like coons an possums?

Yes you can but, really wet greens like grass clipping need to cool down before use or it will generate enough heat to cook the worms.
I understand, we have to work with nature or around her. I was thinking of burying a couple of dead refrigerators with a few inche above the surface. But I live in the Ozarks and digging it by hand in all this rock, forget that noise. Backhoe or nothing!
Could you just mound it up around them even if you couldnt get them but a few ft down?
I could do that I guess but, I am retired and the only work I do is what I want, and I don't want, that bad!
We used to live down in Searcy, actually Center Hill, the sandstone was everywhere there too.
That sounds perfect. Perhaps a sump pump in the lowest corner, just in case. The temps should be ideal. can you keep it 10 degrees or more above freezing during the cold months?
