I definitely appreciate it, I'll try to keep an eye on things, pH wise. Gotta top off the res soon anyway.

This is the Giesel today, a week later. Sugar leaves dying off, and some buds drying out too, so she got the chop... Early, of course smh

Fucking aphids aren't helping thing either

Welp, it’s been a rollercoaster of a year since my last update, but things are chugging along decent at the moment.

To recap:
Got a bunch of awesome elites I’d been looking for (YAAYY)
Sucked with clones and lost them all by fall (BOOOO)

Put the few that actually rooted outside in pots (YAAYY)
Fucked em by June, and they finished for shit (BOOOO)

Saved some elite genetics in seed form (YAAYY)
Not sure who the daddy is though, damnit (BOOOO)

Got my heaviest harvest yet, and a break from flowering (YAAYY)
Fucked up the drying process, turning my “huge stash” from Kind to cat piss- not the good kind (BOO)

The vacation from flowering was nice, but damn am I tired of smoking the same shit, and ready for some new flavors!!

So, here we are, looking forward to a brand new season, better than the last, as always…

Annnd now, Ladies and Gentlemen, Boasting a wide variety of genetics from around the world, in lots of different combinations, let’s have a warm welcome for the 2022 season MacGydro lineup!

Freak Genetics - Don Johnson - (Don Majic Juan x Pure Michigan F2)

Freak Genetics – Watermelon Delight - (Z3/Watermelon Zkittlez x Pure Michigan F2)

3Thirteen Genetics – Orange Julius F2 - (Mothers Milk x Mimosa) F2

Schwaggy Seeds – Skunky VA - (Chem 91 x Skunky Brewster (RKS x Iraqi))

pHenohunter Preservation / Authentic Genetics – Skunk#1 – (Golombian Gold/Acapulco Gold/Afghan)

Bodhi – Pillow Book – (Socal Master Kush x Purple Unicorn F3 (Chem D x Blackberry Widow))

Bad Dawg Genetics – (Mendo Cookies x Cake Fighter)

Bad Dawg Genetics – (Wedding Cake x Cake Fighter)

Kinetic Genetics – Mills Fruit Farm – (Strawberry Queen x Floji) ((?Strawberry Cough x Space Queen?) x (Flo x Goji OG))

(Popped the MFF to check the viability of them compared to the Shotgun Willy he sent at the same time. The MFF are at least viable, but unfortunately, the 27 or so SWs I tried haven’t been)

Mystery Donor – Got a donation from another guy who didn’t have room. He didn’t label it when he got it from his buddy. He says its either Wedding Cake, Apple Fritter, or Gary Payton. We’ll see as flowering progresses…

Personal Crosses, intentional or not –

Unnamed - Bad Dawgs Star Dragon (Stardawg “J” x 3 Headed Dragon) x Schwaggy’s (Skunky VA x Skunky D) **Which I usually label Skunky VD for ease of writing, no offense, Schwaggy!**

Tiger Snax – (Orange Cookies b.s. x Golden Tiger R1)

Spring Training – (Florida OG x Golden Tiger R1)

Unnamed - (Spring Training x Skunky VD)

GMO b.s. – My folks had the GMO cut for a few runs, got bagseed, ran that bagseed after losing the cut, and got bagseed from some of those too. Not sure which generation these are from, but most of the ones we’ve run through have come out pretty close to the cut, and I think shorter flowering. If I remember correctly, they MAY have had 1 of the other GMO b.s. in that round show male. That could possibly explain the father, but really, it’s anybody’s guess. We’ll see how these turn out for the hell of it.

Pillow Book b.s. – Gave my folks a cut or two of my Pillow Book by Bodhi, and they got 1 ½ beans…1 was pale, and didn’t sprout. Not sure about the father, but it may have been in with the same round as the last GMO b.s., and possibly a male GMO b.s., but who knows. I popped this along with my last 2 Pillow Books from the pack, just for comparison.

Rum Runner b.s. – Greenpoints Rum Runner (TK x Purple Punch) pollinated by an unknown bastard while outdoors last year.

Runtz b.s. – Same story as above, regarding mystery pollen.

Larry OG b.s. – Same….explained below

…So, I had the above known plants (Runtz, Rum Runner, Larry) out in pots, but I also had a few mystery bastards out in the ground near the potted ones. The largest, beastliest one of the bastard bunch turned out to be male. It sucks to have to cull a happy, healthy, 9ft plant, but I chopped him down at first sign of flowers. He may have gotten a load off early though, and gotten the last laugh in on me.

He’s my prime suspect in the bastardization / salvation of the above strains because there were very few seeds overall, but they were mostly pretty well developed.

I did find one cluster of pollen pods on big bastards sister too, later in flowering, but pulled it before they opened. Of course, there could’ve been more in the middle. I didn’t see any when I checked, but I really don’t know how I caught the one I did find either.

Those big bastard plants were only outside because I lost track of which mother their seeds came from, and told my girl to toss them in the compost the year before. When they sprouted, I had to give em a chance, and I’m glad I did, or my season would’ve sucked!

I know the father of the bastards was the Schwaggy’s (Skunky VA x Skunky D), but I hit a few gals with him. The mothers could’ve been:

Bodhi’s Dreadbread (Mangobiche x Old Mother Ghani)

Bodhi’s Sky Lotus (Skywalker OG x Snow Lotus)

My “Spring Training” (Florida OG x Golden Tiger R1)

Bad Dawg’s Star Dragon (Stardawg “J” x (TK x Dragonsblood))

Schwaggy’s Skunky VA (Chem91 x Strays (RKS x Iraqi))

Based on growth, my best guess for the mother of the big bastards would probably be Dreadbread. Just judging by the shape and amount of leaves, and smell while growing. It wasn't OG or Chemmy, kinda light overall, and the Dreadbread was light bright limey...like, super limey. Not sure if limey translates or evolves into mango eventually, but that's how I remember her.

Anyway, I think that’s about it for the roster so far. Coming up next: who’s playing where…Followed by everybody’s favorite: Pics!

Stay tuned…

I’m trying a few slightly different low tech cloning methods, as I still haven’t settled on one that works well enough yet.
Up top, are cuts in ziplocs, with just enough water in the bottom corner to keep the stem ends wet.
Inside the clear bin / dome are cuts in foam cups of soil, with ziplocs over the tops for another method.
Lastly, there are cuts in soil in egg cartons under the bin / dome.
I open them daily for fresh air, check water, and replace it at least every 2-3 days.
No signs of roots yet. I think they were cut around the 1st.
Something better take, cuz I need cuts to veg asap!

These are the latest round of seedlings, started around March 1st.
They were put in flower for a week to show first signs of sex, on march 26th, and put back in veg a week later, to get more size before deciding where they’ll end up.
So far, about ½ have shown sex, but I didn’t check them tonight yet.
Some of the first to show sex were the Bastard Larry OG and Runtz, which were 2 of the earliest clones to start flowering last season.
The slowest to show are the Golden Tiger crosses so far. Big surprise lol

Below is the round started around Jan 1st. (Minus the bigger Skunky VA far right) They went in flower to sex Mar 11th for about 2 weeks, then put back in veg. They continued to flower for a couple weeks before finally reverting back to veg. Took longer than I thought, so the next round (Referenced above ^^) only went in for a week. Hopefully they’ll show and revert back to veg quicker than these did.

While back in veg, I hit them all with pollen from an Orange Julius F2 male. It looks like it took for the most part, and seeds are cooking.

Strains consist of:
Don Johnson
Watermelon Delight
Orange Julius
Skunk#1
GMO bagseed
Skunky VA

All but the GMO and Skunky VA were put into flower Apr 6th. I held them back for a little more size, and because it’s getting crowded in the bloom tent.

Alrighty, on to some flower pics then. We’ll start with the latest additions first, and ripen up from there.

The following rack of gallon pots was added to flower for sexing March 11th-25th, when they were returned to continue vegging. Bloomed in veg for a week or so more, and got Qtip pollenated in the meantime by an Orange Julius F2 by HydroRed.
Every plant seem to have taken, so I should have at least a pack of each to add to the muthachuckin collection.
They’d just started stretching back out vegetatively a couple days before being added back into flower, Apr 6th, so they’ll probably throw some slightly funky structured buds, but would otherwise likely be nice and tight.
If they go through another 3 week stretch phase, there might be headroom trouble.
Top to bottom, Left to right, Labels at main growth tips of each, far as I can tell:
Watermelon Delight #2, Don Johnson #2
Orange Julius F2 #2, Orange Julius F2 #5
Don Johnson #1, Skunk#1 #1

1gallonrack.JPG

This solo rack, added Apr 1st or 2nd was full of these Golden Tiger S1s and Skunk#1 cups to see how a “wall o green” would work out.
Well, at a week in bloom now, the GTs haven’t shown anything definitive yet. No huge surprise here, especially if they’re late starting sativa gals, I guess. Daily checks from day 6 til sex shows.

The Sk1s, however have started sexing already.
In fact, I removed and sequestered all but 1 for letting their nuts hang already. The last just hasn’t showed definitively yet. Hopefully It’s a gal, but I do already have 1 female going, so at least I’ll have one example of the line in a couple months.

So, yeah, I was definitely bummed once I started seeing all those boys and removing them from the tent.
Then I figured I’d check em out a little closer and try to narrow them down, as far as who to possibly chuck with. I certainly don’t need so damn many, after all, right?
They’re all pretty close looking, growth wise, so I started giving them stem rubs.

Now, granted, they’re basically still in veg, only 1wk bloom, but their rubs are similar, and none are sweet at the moment. The first one I checked reminded me most of garlic bread. Not the heavier roasted, almost burned garlic like Chem D seems to throw, but a slightly milder garlic first, and buttery afterward.

The only girl I have so far started out the first couple weeks of sexing smelling fruity (almost Juicy Fruit gum), with a savory, oniony note after. It’s lost the fruit lately, and is just savory now. Can’t wait to see how she finishes…

Maybe they’re liking the Sulphur they’re getting, and expressing with the onion / garlic smells. Who knows…

Back to the males…Now I have to decide what I want to do with them.
Pollen collection, and hitting a little of everything is almost a given, but I need to decide whether I want to collect and mix all of it together, or try to do selective branch pollination with each male.

What would you do??

Golden Tiger S1 top 2 rows, Sk1 next 2 rows. Pic taken yesterday, before most Skunks were moved.

Solorack1.JPG

This is the mystery monster donor plant, at 3.5 weeks. I can’t guess yet, based on the smell, whether she’s Wedding Cake, Apple Fritter, or Gary Payton. Supposedly, she’s one of them.
The smell so far is like a spicy perfume, like I’ve picked up in other cookie crosses, but since they’re pretty much all some flavor of cookies I haven’t grown, and there’s still 6 weeks or so to develop the final profile, who knows.
Anyone wanna venture a guess yet from their experience with any of said cuts?
She takes up 1 wall of the 4x4, and was about 6” from the 1kw at her closest point.
As you can see, she flew a little too close to the sun, with bleaching leaves, and a fried top. Oops!
She’s been moved back, and the fried top nug removed.
Chopped it up the next morning, and put it in the volcano, but as sticky as she was at 3 whole weeks, she didn’t do much, effect wise. Not a big surprise, but worth a shot with what would’ve otherwise been tossed.

These are 2 of the same cut of Skunky VA, at 5 weeks bloom. One is in a 2 gallon pot, and the other in a 3 or 4 gallon, I think. The larger one, in the larger pot, is closer to the light, and was bleaching a bit. I bumped up the food a tad, and moved her back a tad, and will keep an eye on her.

Gum Wrapper Grows
Watermelon Delight at 5 weeks bloom. All things considered, she seems to need less nutes than the other plants she’s been growing with. Her leaves have been consistently a deeper, waxier green than her neighbors, and is the frostiest of the bunch in flower so far.
We’ll see what the mystery plant looks like at 5 weeks for comparison.
You can tell that WD and the Don Johnson share the same daddy, with similar sharp, “Chemmy” aromas reminiscent of what I call the “mothball” smell so common in Chem D crosses.
I haven’t really researched Oreoz or MendoBreath much. Is the D hiding somewhere in the lineage?
I wouldn’t be surprised, as that scent seems to be pretty dominant in crosses I’ve had so far.
Anyway, she’s stinky, sticky, and frosty, and only half way done!

Males currently dropping pollen:
Bastard Larry OG
Mendo Cookies x Cake Fighter
Mills Fruit Farm
Spring Training
Skunk#1

Females currently pistillate enough to take pollen:
Golden Tiger
Skunk#1
Spring Training
Tiger Snax
GMO b.s.
Bastard Larry OG

So, now the obvious questions....what to cross to what?

Spring Training F2s are likely, as I only have a few F1s, and am still looking for a good mix of Florida OG and Golden Tiger.
Bastard Larry OG F2s might be a possibility for no other reason than "the hell of it". Wasn't planning on working on anything with them, due to their unknown daddy, but there were only a few to begin with, and I have a male and female, so why not? They've got a bitter funkiness to the smell so far, and a more sativa appearance, so they could be interesting at some point.
I'm thinking I might make a couple more crosses with Golden Tiger, females this time, and unrelated males. There's 1 Thai dominant, and 1 a little more stout. I may try a little Mills Fruit Farm pollen to check its viability before it goes to Roz. The Mendo Cookies cross might be interesting to hit the GT with...see if either of these indica dominant crosses are good matches.
That'll get my gears turning at least.
