what is nutrient chelation?

As in, what is it and how does it apply to me personally? If you use any kind of fertilizer, this is of interest to you.

I've attached an excellent example

EDTA is an "amino acid", which is why some companies market their nutrient as amino acid chelated.

Making elements available buddy. I had one of those different thinkers try to tell me the other day that a nutrition supplement that was chelated...... get this...... It made it unavailable to the human body????? Cool story bro, any other words of wisdom before I bail on this convo ?

Are the amino acids in megacrop the chelating agents, or are they addin ingredients.

They are chelating agents, I don't know which amino chelates which element.

54-12-6, 73-22-3 Tryptophan Trp C11-H12-N2-O2 Ph-NH-CH=C-CH2-CH(NH2)-COOH
56-87-1 Lysine Lys C6-H14-N2-O2 H2N-(CH2)4-CH(NH2)-COOH

Those two are used frequently.

If we get ahold of their MSDS it should have cas numbers next to ingredients.

The way you make a nutrient unavailable to the human body is if you refrain from ingesting it.

Not necessarily, they may call them trade secrets or proprietary ingredients. I could make an attempt at making a request but they are leagally allowed to use the GRAS (generally recognized as safe) clause to keep the info hidden.

the amounts can be secret but it’s a fertilizer so the ingredients on the msds will have a cas number and if they call it amino acid blah blah we use the cas number to look up the compound, some of these particular things that I think are in megacrop are also used in cattle feed for example

Unfortunately they arent listed individually, on the plus side they responded to my request within abot 45 minutes at 9 o'clock at night.

There can only be so many possible combinations, we can probably figure it out.
I am inclined to just ask. I need to do a little digging though, I have forgotten the regulations I used when requesting this type of info in my previous life (EHS/IH), thank god. Also haz com reg that went into effect after I left the field may have some carrots I can use. Thing is they dont seem to be claiming trade secret, just that they arent obligated to disclose to the general public because they are below 1% of the composition of the mixture.
They did have test results for heavy metals on thier web site, at first glance I find it funky cause results reported appear to be below the MDL (minimum detection limit) perhaps they mean MQL (quantification) but I doubt it. Maybe you or cannabear have the knowledge of what aminos will chelate which metals, but that ain't in my wheelhouse.

I have no idea what they are supposed to disclose, I thought they had to list the ingredients individually and that's not right.

They can group chemicals together by hazard. Like hydrocarbon chains in gasoline and petrolium products dont necessarily have to called out individually on an msds.

My real curiosity surrounding chelation was it is my opinion that fertilizers with synthetically cheleated nutrients can continue to chelate nutrients in the soil and therfore cause toxicity/lockout. On the other hand since the amino acids in mc are essential aminos they are building blocks of life and can be assimilated by the plant as raw material. This is why I was happy when I saw they went back to essential aminos IDK if has any legs tho.

Just checking this thread out, anyone get any further with this? I'm interested. Or did I miss a post, flipping through? Mega crop user.
