it's more like a combination of taco sauce and A1.
Spot. Fucking. On. It’s like A1 consistency with Pace Salsa on steroids (without the chunks).
In Costa Rica it's like ketchup in the US, just on every table at every restaurant and food stand
I was watching a Vlog about Costa Rica while dropping beans and I saw it in so many scenes (I’m a poet and didn’t know it). They even plugged it while the Vlogger was showing what she was cooking at home. It’s so good that if Costco and Walmart get a hold of it, there’d be Kirkland and Great Value versions lol. Guess there’s only one way to find out…? all kidding aside - I’ve been considering a trek down there so perhaps this is just the precursor to kick off that adventure?

I've been a lot of places, and there's few I'd like to see again more than Costa Rica. San Jose and the surrounding area is pretty rough but the rest of the country is just incredibly beautiful, and the people are just so nice and welcoming.

One of my favorite meals ever is I rolled into some tiny village in the mountains around sunset and there was only one place to eat, one of these little open air food stands they call sodas down there, and it was closing when we got there, and it was kind of the off-season so the cottages we were hoping to stay at was closed too. The woman running it spoke zero English and my Spanish is pretty spotty, but realizing we were kind of stuck there, with nothing to eat and no where to stay, she fired up her pot of oil and made us the best fried chicken and yucca I've ever had in my life, then had her husband go open one of the cottages there and let us crash there even though it was closed.

Pretty sure the blankets they brought us were actually horse pelts. It was a pretty wild place. My companion at the time was this vegan chick... I definitely didn't mention my blanket theory to her lol. Or the fact that I'm pretty sure they were frying everything in beef fat. No offense to vegans, but I'll never travel with one again, especially when there's a language barrier!

I will definitely hit you up if I decide to go. Been doing some research the last several days. I’d be going solo, gotta take those opportunities in life when you can. Ya San Jose looks rough AF but I’d probably stay a night when I land. Looking at possible itineraries and places to find “la cripe,” their term for weed better than dirt weed.

Dude that's me to a T. Just about the same age too. Having some fun new chronic pains and soreness and suddenly thinking I should actually, you know, try a little?
I purchased this book in my early 40's and bought into the theory. Absolute game changer in regards to nagging arthritis-like issues in my middle back and hips. Still taking 20,000 iu's daily....

It's a leap of faith, though - cause at first it sounds crazy.

I am having a hard time wrapping my taste buds around that, lol.
It's certainly unique lol

But it's good! Since it usually has a bunch of stuff besides just the pork liver, like other pork scraps, and a bunch of seasonings and herbs, it's actually way more approachable than just a slab of liver and onions (which, honestly, I also love)

I don't know if I've ever had exactly that, but I've eaten "Head Cheese" while in Quebec, and I also still eat Sausage even though I know how it's made, and I like Hot Dogs made with the same technique where you get a "snap" on the bite (Anyone here who's eaten a Coney Dog in Detroit has experienced that snap from the intestines they put the stuff in) and I'm cool with that LOL. I'm fairly open minded in terms of food. As long as it's not bugs; I'll eat Crab, Shrimp and Lobster, I'd eat Ants and attempt to eat Grasshoppers if they were deep fried, and I'd probably take a crack at a tarantula if I was hungry. Slime and or squiggles are NOT what I'm trying to eat though... I don't even fish with worms let alone try to stomach the thought LOL.
