So correct me if im wrong, but I always thought those were just different words for the same thing? Like where I live we call them subs. That particular one we'd call a steak bomb. But hoagies, grinders, subs, heros etc I thought were all essentially the same thing
Ya sounds like regional dialect and colloquialisms. We call em subs here too. IDK if the bread is the same as a Mexican Bolillo? Looks similar.

Right or wrong idk I thought it was about the meat. Grinder = ground, ball or shredded, not sliced.

B&G making a repeat tomorrow tho.

Admit it. Your side hustle is food truck at downtown live show venues and occasional trendy soccer mom events. I.e. bomb ?
Thats my retirement dream. Get to a point where I can start a food truck that makes just enough to cover expenses. Not a lot of money in that industry and personally I hate the $15 for a bowl of mac and cheese food trucks that park in the financial district. I wanna slang dank $5 sandwiches to my blue collar brothers.

THIS. Wtf is up w the $15 bowls. Like seriously. Some are almost $20 here now so I just walk away and end up at a taco truck that still has $1.50-3.00 tacos, $ 5-8 burritos, and much more filling. Sadly I gave up on food trucks last year. When they first started hitting the scene in my area they were much more reasonable. Now they’re getting all cute and getting away from what the purpose was, good food for good prices, sharing their craft w the community. IDGAF about your fancy little toothpicks n shit. If the food (and price point) don’t bring it, no toothpick will save you. But shockingly, ppl still eat it all up. I guess it’s a “cool trendy” thing. The Mexicans have it right, tried and true for generations, basic entrees, keep the prices enough to cover costs w some profit to make a living and keep on grinding. I could make a serious side hustle just slangin my mom’s fried rice alone, throw in some meat rolls and maybe some banh xeo and banh mi, hell I could quit my day job. But she won’t bite. Persistence could help here? If I ever get a chance I wanna be able to bring her cooking talents to the public so they can see how special it is. You can have all the same ingredients but I believe it’s all in the technique. Plus - the dedication and love that’s put into every dish.

I mean, I get it, they probably need $15/bowl to turn a profit with all the fees and taxes they have to pay. But also maybe just follow the taco truck model and make small portions with cheap ingredients you can sell lots of?

The most egregious offender on my coast is, in my opinion, the goddamned lobster mac and cheese. They charge you like $20 and put a tablespoon of lobster on top. And honestly, Id rather have the two seperately anyways.

Tell your mom Im coming to visit by the way. Ill push the food truck idea for you... Mrs. Spy, this fried rice is so good, you should sell it! Out of a truck maybe??

I always thought it would be fun to have a food truck, park it outside a reggae fest, or any cool concert. BUT with the current war on coal and gas it just doesn't seem possible to offer good food at a good price. $2 tacos for the win. $5 a gallon of gas- loss. In CA natural gas has tripled in price. I mean boiling water for my pasta cost more than the food ...Don't get political on me but ..voting has consequences.

My food truck idea is real simple.
Heirloom bean burritos.
Everybody loves a bean burrito, and local heirloom beans would set it apart.
Here in the Sonoran Desert we have the tepary bean, but no burritos that I know of.
Look at all the beans out in California that Rancho Gordo carries - things could get wild pretty quick.
Oh man, an heirloom bean burrito with native wild rice and hatch chile sauce and some local cheese?? Id get in my car right now and start driving.
