Who loves fishing ?

@Ramjet159 A brief rundown for you and other salties that may not be familiar.

For small personal watercraft, belly boats are cool because you are right down in the water. They are ultra stealthy and ultra portable. You can take one to hike-in lakes and reach water otherwise unfishable. They are relatively cheap and easy to store

Pontoon boats are a little different. You sit out of the water and have oars(and the option for a small motor), but still have flippers for fine movements. You can cover more water, but lose some stealth and portability. Some of these get pretty fancy and stupidly expensive, but there are more affordable options.

Here's my view from the seat of my old pontoon boat with a pike coming up underneath. It can get a little nerve wracking when teeth and hooks are thrashing around near your balls, but it is exciting. :punkrocker:

ya that's me i don't speak well in front of the cam...

at the time STony was the owner of westerbass.com and he came down to my dad's last birthday party...
he had been trying to get someone to do a video on/of silerwood lake, but no one wanted to do it.. I was fishing it almost everyday and had a trny that weekend.. we ended up fishing the trny and saying screw it.. shot half the viedo that afternoon them finish the next morning....

I was on some big fish but you know how that goes..lol It was fun doing it.. I can always say I had the 1st bass video on line form the wood ...

I didn’t get rich from fishing but I saw things and experienced things that I consider truly unique . I also came close to losing my life on two occasions so it did give me a true appreciation of life . We once had a wave break over the bow of our 19 metre shark boat , smashed every window out of the front of the bridge then threw me to the back of the wheelhouse and into the rear windows which I smashed with my back . We estimated about 8 tons of water passed through our wheelhouse rendering us with no navigational equipment 100 miles from home . It was a long voyage home wondering if we’d make it . That’s a juvenile Great White we caught back in the early Nineties . 6E7CFE21-BD2E-4F45-9E04-D4A6A76E53E2.jpeg

You guys catch a lot of Bass . They must be in good numbers throughout your continent . They look super aggressive little feeders

I've been part of a small annual gathering of ice anglers for about 15 years. This is from one of our early ones. We camp out on the ice for a few days and drink and smoke and eat and fish. Some of my favorite times have been at these events. Guys bring all sorts of wild game and we feast on deer and moose and elk and salmon, as well as frying fresh fish on the ice.

A couple of the old boys teaming up on the auger. Ice was getting thick. (RIP Yardbird)

Hey @Capt's Farm , I see you mentioning Lake Mead. Did you ever know a tournament guy down there called Huggy? He worked at the interpretive center at the Hoover Dam and had a big white-dude afro. He offered to show me some fishing spots on Mead next time I was in Vegas, but by the time I got down again he had passed away.

He told me "I wouldn't show any of these locals my spots, but I figure I can trust a Canadian." :)

The guy who was working at the Interpretative Center who told me Huggy had passed said he was known for working with kids' groups and was a big advocate for teaching kids to fish. Between that, and the smallness of the angling world, I thought it would be a neat coincidence if you knew him.

I bought my first new boat in 1987 was a Champ 184sc, I plopped down 15k of firewood money...10 more Champs till that dick Hopper @ Ranger put the final nail in their coffin and Bass Cat's till I ordered the Bullet last fall...70+k is a long way from 15k...I'm just hoping I can fish my trails this year...last year was a very depressing fishing season for me.
