Who loves fishing ?

These are my stomping grounds, the Flint River in Middle GA. We got a species of bass here called the shoal bass, and my jam is wading after them by hopping along on the heaved up rock in the river called shoals. Shoalies are as aggressive as smallies and a blast on light tackle. Racked up my knee last time out, and it's killing me, 'coz the fishing is on fire right now and I'm stuck at home, gimping around with a lob wedge for a cane. Great to see the fishing posts!!

Wow. Amazing...I never knew. I couldn't stop watching

I'm glad you liked it :) That species doesn't get generally huge but that's probably good LOL. The Amazon is one of those Rivers I'd LOVE to have a crack at with my heaviest gear but I sure as shit wouldn't swim in it; Piraiba and Caiman would be the main reason along with Anaconda. Piranhas aren't that bad and don't normally attack people. I remember mine back when I was like 10 years old and not once did they try to bite me, though Catfish I've been bitten quite a few times LOL.

A few more pics I found when shuffling through my drawers @Amarok

What were those .... Rods or Poles? Anyway what were they made from ? A stick with no Reel I've seen similar to that before but never knew what they made those out of. I mean if you're flipping Tuna in the boat I imagine it's something durable haha.

They’re made of fibreglass and flex really well . They came into play late 70s . Before then they used Bamboo instead . A few of the older crew kept a Bamboo pole or two because they liked the “ action” or flex better . We had 3 poles each . A 6ft , 9ft and 11ft . As the fish got more picky and less aggressive they’d feed further away from the vessels hull so we’d go with them by using a longer pole .

Those are awesome photos, @Ramjet159 ! Thanks for sharing.

All you skinny Aussies and then the Canadian wearing his pre-hibernation weight.???
? good bloke he was. Always cracking a good joke usually at his own expense . He was a true Canuck that one as he never felt the cold . Sadly he died from alcoholism. Probably when he realised he had to leave Oz and go back ?

Was the other a Mooneye ?
Close :) . It's Moonie's larger cousin, the goldeye. If you look, you can see the yellow/gold on the lower half of the eye. That's the easiest way to tell. Mooneye only have the gold on the upper half of the eye.
They are a lot of fun on light gear, but since I'm targeting dinosaurs and big pike and walleye, I'm not using light gear.

Went back last night and got one more goldie and one minuscule burbot. Missed a fair number of hits and may have briefly hooked another dino. Something heavy pulled out some line before throwing the hook.

The river has been flooded and very dirty the last few weeks. Now it's coming down and the action is heating up. (y)

Gotcha :) I do love Sturgeon and want to actually land one some day. I fish from shore and I know it's possible because my Grandpa got one when I was little. Can only imagine the fight lol, specially on a larger one.

Do you ever use those Golden Eye for bait? I imagine they'd work pretty well.
