So does everyone remember this poor sad little creature?

This is a photo taken today of it, the big one in the back...

And upon closer inspection...

That's right boys and girls...she's a boy!
He is now in a garbage bag.
That was the 1968 strain that I had been very much looking forward to. (and I made four very good looking clones of)
Not gonna lie, I'm pretty bummed.
I do have access to seeds that were recently produced of that strain, so I will be able to see what it's about at some point.
For know I am going to pop a Mazar seed to replace her/him.
Just a bummer to let it get to this point and not realize that it was male. Rookie mistake. Hopefully I learn from it.
Cheers,
WillieP

Just dropping a post to let everyone know I made it through the holidays and into 2021.
After killing the 1968 male, I am down to two plant in flower.
These are two of the clones gifted me that were planted in soil. I up-potted them into 2 gal fabric pot after deciding to not to try to switch them over to Hempy buckets.
I should at this point mention, that I don't know shit about growing in soil. These poor plants are having a rough go of it.
I think at first I over fertilized, and then I think I let them starve.
I will finish them out, but will be happy to be going back to hydro soon.
I still have not started the seeds that I spoke of, (life happens) but I still have plans to.
Cheers,
WillieP

Thanks Mate.
I know enough to know that I am not going at this soil grow correctly.
The 2 gallon fabric pots I am using are not nearly large enough for the size of plants I have in them.
I'm sure that the nutrients in the soil are depleted. I am now just trying to use a dry nutrients solution to supplement.
Sorta using the soil as a inert medium, but that leads to fears of salt buildup and lockout.
Just trying to limp through the rest of the grow to harvest, and get back to what I know a little more about, hydro.
Cheers,
WillieP

A fully climate controlled drying room would be amazing... not something my little house has room for, but a man can dream
Ive been looking at these for the last week... I found a 100L version that is 24"x 15x 15 for 200 bucks... Do you think they could be effective for drying and curing?

To be honest, I didn't even know there was such a thing...
I am a former cigar smoker and had in mind more of a humidor type cabinet.
A quick Google found something along these lines:
Electronic Humidor & Cigar Coolers | Free Gift + Free Shipping – NewAir
The only issue I would see is that they are lined with Spanish cedar, great for cigars, no clue what that would do to cannabis.
These type of units will cool and heat as well as maintain a humidity setpoint. Not sure it the camera unit would have the ability to add humidity if being used in an environment with low ambient RH.
The ultimate would be to find just the 'guts' to a walk-in humidor and use that to create your own drying and curing space. IMHO
Cheers,

I can't imagine why it wouldn't. Seems like a homerun. My only concern would be the lack of air circulation but if the humidity and temp could be dialed in perfectly it may not matter.

These are the two remaining plants that I have.
They are a Bruce Banner and a Missouri Northern Lights X Atomic Bomb.
They were flipped on Dec 13th, so 4 weeks of flower tomorrow.
These are the ones that I mentioned earlier that have had a tough go of it.
I've never grown in soil, and I have never not used a scrog screen.
They are starting to stack up a bit, but I know they will never produce the weight that I have gotten off my other grows.
If I were to grow in soil again, (which I do not currently have any plans of doing), I would:
1) Start from seed, or take my own clones.
I was gifted these clones and they came with a mite infestation.
2) Up-pot sooner and more often.
These came in 6 in pots and I know I left them in those to long. Moved them to 2 gal fabric pots, that are not large enough for the size of plants that I am growing. I should have up-potted them again to a 5 or 7 gal.
3) Research growing in soil more.
I felt unprepared to properly care for these plants. I had read the horror stories on over watering so that was not an issue, but how to get them nourished properly when their pots were to small has not gone well.

I have documented this more for myself than for others.
As they say, Live and Learn.

WillieP

Hey All,
So two more weeks have passed, this puts us at 6 weeks since flip to 12/12.
They are starting to fill out a bit.
This style of growing is very foreign to me. IMG_7573.JPG IMG_7574.JPG IMG_7575.JPG

I am going to give it a go at Hempy buckets again. This time from seed, and hopefully with greater success.
I have a Pineapple Express, 3- M-99's and a Grape Ape up and going in solo cup hempy starters.
I will cull two of the M-99's to maintain my plant count. (where I am, a plant doesn't count till it reaches 5 inches.)
So far, So good!

As I have stated, I will be glad to be back to Hydro.

Cheers,
WillieP

It's been another 3 weeks and things are still progressing.
Nothing major to report.
The two plants in flower are still bulking up, but are not as far along as I assumed they would be by now.
I did not notice and 'boy parts', but I must have missed something...
Cause the there are some seeds a happening. Not really upset, just surprised. IMG_7627.JPG IMG_7629.JPG IMG_7630.JPG IMG_7631.JPG IMG_7632.JPG

Still having PH issues with the Hempy starters.
Working on it.
Going to try two plants in my normal Flood and Drain method and two plants in the Hempy buckets.

Those look good Willie! Sometimes boy parts on lady plants are thrown in weird, hard to notice, places so they can be tricky to catch at times. How long did these ones go for? Looks like it didn't happen til more towards the end as the visible seeds are not yet mature. So probably happened in the last 2-3 weeks or so.

I usually like to give my plants a complete look over like once every week or two just to be safe... Especially if I notice any pistils receding/browning anytime before 5 weeks into flower. I get a flashlight and comb through every branch and node, every inch, top to bottom. Still isn't completely foolproof 100% of the time, but damn near. I've found seeds in plants that I never found any boy parts on...so complete mystery as to how they get there sometimes, but always good to stay on your toes!

Looking forward to the next round!

This is very true. I recently had a plant go heavily to seed and I never found any sign of pollen sacs anywhere. Still not sure what happened!

Those look like some dank nugs anyways @WillieP! A few seeds never hurt anyone... heck, I'd probably drop a couple, might find a gem in there!

What up gang??
I've not been good about keeping up my journal of late, sorry.
There is a lot going on in WillieP's World.
The two plants in flower are taking way longer to fully mature that I thought they were going to. I was thinking the 2nd or 3rd week of Feb, and we are well past that. The MNTxAB is starting to show some amber, but the BB is still just cloudy. I just checked with a scope yesterday. (you can also see the seed development on MNLxAB)

IMG_7762.JPG
The BB still has a ways to go I believe...
IMG_7747.JPG

In next crop news...
I am experimenting with some different growing techniques, I am growing the new plants in three different mediums. Soil. Hempy. and at the moment aeroponics. (those plants will be changed over to E&F)
These two M99 plants will be grown in soil for the Botany 357 class that I am taking.
IMG_7755.JPG
This shot shows the other 4 plants I have going. 2 in the aeroponic bucket, and 2 in 3 1/2 gallon hempy buckets.
IMG_7768.JPG
And a root porn shot just for fun.
IMG_7767.JPG
I am trying different things in an attempt to become a better grower.
(this bit is more for me that anyone else)
I believe that I would not use hempy starter solo cups again, they seemed to take off very slowly.
I have learned to soak the perlite in a bucket of PH'd water before use to stabilize it.
I would start with rapid rooters in the aeroponic bucket till the roots have developed to the point I would like, then transplant over to the other medium(s).
The hempy bucket method is still unproven, time will tell.

Hope your grows are going well,
WillieP

PS
I just ordered the aluminum angle to build a couple DIY strip lights. There will be two of them, 2x4 at 254 watts each.
