I'd only note GoDaddy has had shit security for customer records. This may be part of why, cheap. I do cloud work and sort of have them in only-poke-with-a-stick status for the time being. The onus of security is on the customer and not the provider. Remember that.
The mentality should always be, "you are your security", never depend on any provider for full coverage. Its nearly impossible anyway to eliminate all security risks. There is always risks due to weaknesses and vulnerabilities just haven't been found yet. You need an active security posture with vulnerability management. Let me tell you what there are armies of people trying...Be realisitic...one of the most simplest is the removal of headers for instance, security by obfuscation. Would it stop a hard core tech guy? Probably not, others maybe as they wont know your webapp/containter type information.

It only gets complicated when there is money involved. They are gonna push contracts at you. Reading them is a good idea, having a lawyer onboard helps.

I have seen some devious methods to monetize hacking work. Strangely enough, your biggest worry will be cryptomining on your CPU cycles, at your expense. Shit is gonna happen, in some fashion if you are out there long enough.

lol damn, I just wanna move a couple packs of beans, I didnt think it would require having a lawyer on retainer.

So apparantly seeds are 100 percent legal to sell and ship under the 2018 farm act...I have been told that a lab cannot differentiate between different kinds of seeds... Thoughts?
Yep, I am not too concerned with sending them. I think I"m gonna go for the godaddy page. Probably just a wordpress bundle? Do I need any more than that? I just wanna be able to have like 10-15 items for sale, and thats about it. a very simple, basic page. I'd rather just link people to it than have people try to search for it.

If you want simple, you could even probably get away with the free website and cart builder they are offering for 30 days... I prefer Word press, but it does require a bit more work. You could try one and upgrade to the other i believe.

i'm okay with paying the 20 or whatever it is for a month of the wordpress to see if I like it. if I do then I can get a year or more.

so with wordpress, will I need more to be able to take payments?

Its been a long time for me, but I think there is a plugin wpforms or something that provides payment options, things may have changed since. Paypal was one of the best to get started with, but was ~30/month if I recall, Stripe I think was the other payment processor....again trying to recall from my stoner memory lol

yes @Deebs is correct. If you are running Wordpress you will need to use a plugin for your cart system. It’s not terribly hard to do, but quite a few more steps compared to the website builder and thier shop builder experience. If I wasn’t worried about SEO I would opt out of Wordpress all together, and just see how you like the godaddy tools. Based on the need you’re describing, that would be the way to go. You can be up and running in just a couple hours. They also give you the ability to link your square merchant, PayPal, or even Shopify I think. I own a couple new domains that still have free web builder that came with the purchase, I can get into it if you have any questions.

I'm sorry y'all, everything I learn opens up 10 more questions. So, would a .store be the way to go then, just get that package off of godaddy, and start there? I guess I"m just confused on what package contains what, and If they are mostly all inclusive or if I need one to host, one for payment, etc.

Off the top of my head here are the steps I would take to build an easy to build and functioning page.
1. Purchase your domain from Godaddy, and make sure to pay for the extra private registration. The hosting plan should be around 30 dollars a year and an extra 10 for the private registration. I would also suggest purchasing your domain “neighbors” so that when you go viral, people can’t use a similar domain ?

2.Once you purchase your domain, you will be able to access godaddys domain tools. You can select the domain you purchased and get started. There should be a relatively easy to find button to begin. It will allow you to select a template for your site and make changes. This is the best template builder imo...i still find new functionality daily while working on other projects.

3.Once you get a basic template up, you will see a shop builder whete you can start adding inventory to the shop. This is where you can link your merchant account. I personally use square, I work in Transport and logistics, which is considered high risk, and I have not had any issues with square.... YET... You do have the ability to link a payment gateway provided by your bank or other third parties, but square or PayPal seems to be the majority of the stuff I see.

@Dino Party you should have my email, if you have any specific questions I’m happy to help.

wonderful, that makes a lot of sense. thank you. So is there anywhere along the merchant account lines where I want to fudge anything? any information thats better to lie/omit? Obviously my bank info needs to be right, but would i be better off putting "pepper seeds" or "t shirts" anywhere? I assume they're gonna want to know somewhere along the way a little bit about what I'm selling?

Actually yes. I would take a look at the terms and conditions and see if there is anything they exclude.. Here is an example. In my case, when I was having merchant processing issues because of the nature of my business, instead of selling “transport services” I was selling physical packing materials for “transport services” instead... Online credit card processors just want to protect thier money. You are selling physical goods, so that is the majority of the requirements right there. I would maybe just emphasize statements like "novelty seeds" "not for germination" "cannabis is illegal in certain areas make sure to check with local laws" and so on.... Or you can avoid Cannabis all together and claim that you are selling nuts and bolts, or other flower seeds... I am sure something will come to mind. Lots of different ways to skin this cat... You will be fine though... My guess is that with all the new legislation being worked on, this process is going to become easier and easier as more of us start to feel that "entrepreneurial spirit"...
