Your Favorite Strains

Hey everyone!

I'm kind of curious of everyone's personal tastes; I mean I know a few people who say "Weed is Weed, I don't care what it's called" but then they find a strain they really like and they start caring. Now on one hand, all strains have a few things in common (Like THC) but it seems every strain in different in Terpenes, and I'm personally starting to think there is some truth to "The Entourage Effect". So I just thought I'd ask and see what you all like, and why.

I'll start:

Blue Cheese (UK Cheese X Blueberry) - My absolute, all time, top of my favorite strains EVER. The smell, the taste, the effects, it's all there with Blue Cheese. I've tried UK Cheese too, and loved it, but not as much as this. Pungent and sweet, not one that's easy to hide by any means...

Chemdog - Another on my list of favorite strains ever, just not #1 like Blue Cheese. Chemdog is another strain I love dearly, and the smell and taste are also "unique" and the effects are awesome too.

Skywalker (Mazar-I-Shariff X Blueberry) - I've loved Skywalker for some time too. I imagine if I ever get to try Blueberry I'm gonna love it, since it's a parent to some of my favorites LOL. Skywalker is great, and I prefer it to be outdoor as the smell and taste is a lot different from indoor; Indoor is good too, but the outdoor I did last year literally smelled like a Blueberry Farm; Blueberry smell with a very distinct smell of "earthy" so essentially, a Blueberry Farm including the smell of soil at that farm LOL.

Purple Chemdog - Grapes and weird for a smell, and wonderful effects. I've been trying to find a clone for some time now, but haven't been able too.

GMO (I think GSC X Chemdog) - Garlic Mushrooms and Onions is pretty well how it smelled for me, all the way down to the Onion part smelling like Onions fried in butter in a Cast Iron Skillet... PUNGENT and AWESOME. SO glad I got 30 seeds out of a shake ounce from the dispensary.....

MSG - Apparently it means "Moonshine Ghost" or "Moonshine Ghost Haze". AKA as Kerosene Kush apparently, and with good reason; The taste of actual gas is NOT light. I'm a huge fan of "The dank" and "That gas" and this one has the flavor Motor Breath should have had LOL.

Motor Breath (Chemdog X SFV OG Kush) - The smell is really nice when done outside. Indoor it smells, but it doesn't seem to get that odd Citrus / Gas smell I like when it's done indoor. I described the smell as a Sprite Molotov Cocktail. Flavor has a very sweet profile surprisingly.

Anyway, I'll add some of my other top strains later, but I'd love to hear from everyone else.

I'll be Honest; If the word "Chem" or "Dog" or "Dawg" or "Blue" or "Cheese" or "Afghan" is in the name of a strain, I'll give it a try. Like, literally those words are enough for me to throw money LOL. My top list has incredibly similar Terpene Profiles, and Genetics really.

Personally I'm not aware if I've ever smoked Skunk #1 but it's on my "Want to try list" which is like over 200 strains I've got saved on Leafly. Good chunk of them have Chem, Dog, Blue, and Cheese in their names or lineage LOL.

GSC is a great strain, and I also love Green Crack, but I haven't seen "regular" GSC in a while; Dispensary is always pushing those Fruity ones, which, don't get me wrong, I do like Fruity too, but I'll take gassy dankness all day.

I'd also really like a crack at Grand Daddy Purple; as I understand it's one of Purple Chemdog's Parents.

Any of you guys grow Chemdog? I was Blessed enough to have a Seed that sprouted female, and I have to say....The leaves are covered in Resin already. Can't smell it very well though; In front of that plant is Candy Kush, behind it is Grease Monkey, and to the side of it, is Blue Cheese, so you have to shove your face in the plant to get a whiff.

It's kind of awesome that you guys enjoy some of my favorites too; Any of you ever tried Candy Kush? According to Leafly it's Caryophyllene Dominant, but instead of gassy, it smelled more like..... Celery at first? Maybe Celery with a Root Beer undertone? Then as it cured it got a .... I'll go with "sweet" smell. Very interesting smell and taste.

Now this might be a dumb question, but WTF does OG mean in Weed? I've had OG Kush, and it's up there on my list too, and I've had Diamond OG and liked that too, but it seems like OG is just a marketing term as I'm not aware of an "OG" Strain ? Anyone know?

I thought about marking one of my jars where loose buds that accidentally get snipped off end up "Not fucking sure OG" as a joke.

I've got a Chem D x Chem 91 and a Chem D x GSC that just went into flower a week ago. Never ran anything Chem before, so I'm gassed to try them out!

Shoreline has a GDP BX on greatlakesgenetics.com that's piqued my interest. I got really nice GDP from the dispensaries in the Bay Area of CA. Candyland is also a good one you can find up there.

What does OG mean? It's either Ocean Grown or Original Gangster, take your pick. I believe "OG Kush" refers to cuts and S1's of what probably began as Triangle Kush. It's one of those rabbit hole strains with multiple stories of where it came from.

Oh bro I think you'll like that!! Chemdog, Chem D, Chem D Fire..... The list goes on and ON about the Chemdog strains that I love haha! I've had a multitude of different Chem based strains, and we have some live Rosin of Chem D Fire, which is also pretty awesome. Chem D X GSC should have a pretty interesting smell and taste once it's cured, and I'm guessing it'll be wonderful! Chem D X GSC or Chemdog X GSC; One of those is apparently the parents of GMO, which is also really high on my list, and buying "shitty 75 dollar shake ounces" from a Dispensary around my way, got me 30 seeds of it!! I'm SUPER excited to try growing GMO! The Smell.....The taste... LOL. I feel you on having to wait.

The Rabbit Holes are sometimes fun to read about, LOL, if you look up Chemdog's Genetic makeup, they talk about a Grateful Dead show in Colorado and some "Chem Weed" that everyone apparently liked. From the sounds of it, OG is more of a "marketing term" in Weed than actual strain name then? I've read that adding the word Kush to a strain adds appeal to it without it being related to anything from the Kush Mountains, so maybe that's the OG getting added to stuff?

So far I like what I've seen with these Chem D crosses. No issues, fast rooting clones, good structure, strong branches, and no balls lol. Also no smell yet either... I hope they develop some of that famous Chem stank! The Chem D x GSC smells like GSC, and Chem D x Chem 91 has no smell at all. Nadda, zip. It's still early though, but ironic that it's literally the only plant that hasn't developed some sort of smell.

That no smell thing is interesting, LOL, but Chem D and Chemdog '91 crossed should have one heck of an aroma eventually. I have two Strawberry Diesel plants going, and I was surprised how little smell there was at first. The Mother plant got battered in the storms the other day so a good chunk of that is hanging up, but the clone I got off of it is doing good, and I'm a little shocked that the amount of Resin that thing has all over it looks a lot like Motor Breath, which is one of the stickiest strains I've ever trimmed!

No bullshit man; Last year I over watered my Motor Breath clones to the point they looked like they were gonna die for a chunk of last summer, and when I eventually learned I was giving it too much, I started only watering to add Nutrients, and then they both bounced back in time to have buds WAY bigger than those weak little branches could handle, so I had to tied them up LOL. I left it alone until the Resin started having a little Amber color to it, and that meant me going out in the morning and shaking snow off the plants which, I didn't care; There wasn't really much lost to bud rot, and cold temps seem to trigger extra Resin production in most of the strains I've grown since Resin seems to be the plant's natural insulation to cold or wet weather, and once that stuff was done, we couldn't do more than a branch without switching scissors because they were just gummed with sticky LOL.

I had gotten a bit freaked out by the cold weather we had last year in October and started pulling branches that I should have left alone really, because I was thinking the cold was going to kill them, but now I'm a bit more relaxed about it since seeing last year my plants had snow on them, and went through nights where it got down to 27 degrees, and all they did was get sticky and purple and I'm looking at that like "Damn I'm stupid why did I worry?" so this year I'm probably not gonna have mini bon fires around the plants to keep them warm since them being cold last year made them pretty and sticky LOL. Eventually I read something from someone in Alaska that grows outside and said they hadn't really ever had an issue with the cold bothering their plants either, and I'm pretty sure Genetics has something to do with that, as actual Indica plants grow in some pretty cold areas. Blue Cheese and Chemdog I've read like it about 68 degrees, so when I had Seedlings going this year I set the AC to 68 and all my Seedlings did good other than some stretching because the light I started them with was burning Motor Breath seedlings up to a crisp, meanwhile Blue Cheese and Skywalker were stretching INTO the light that was killing the other one, so I kept them cool for the most part, and even Hawaiian Sunshine did good with the cool temps.
