The hash rosin conundrum. We all know the 6* hash is the bomb right? Sometimes it's hard for me to even put on plates as in my opinion is perfect already, ripest of trichs! I guess consistency changes are good and it's needed for full spec rosin, but dayum sometimes just good ol hand pressed brings out profiles that you can only really get from old skool methods...like the terp hashishene!

Boffo's Magic Circus Tek? I found that one in the mid-to-late 90's as well......and blasted a buncha tubes. I thought it was the shit for awhile there....

but then I found out about bubble hash and dropped that nast pronto. Prolly been 20 years since I smoked the Bu-Taint'ted stuff. It was hard as fuck to find cans to blast with back then....and none of it was 5X refined/etc... Was fun @ the time but I shake my fuckin head now about all of it.

Squishin is sure fun. Interesting to see how different everyone plays @ the same temps/etc. Kinda like the bub...everybody gonna come to the party dressed a bit differently.... heehee...

squish em if ya got em.....
I don't remember if it was specifically named that. I remember PVC was suggested as the cheap way to do it with a casual warning about butane possible pvc leeching lol. I scrounged together some galvanzied pipe and valves, it looked like an overkill pipe bomb. Stuck it in the freezer after filling it for the "faux- supercritical" effect. Now that was scary, spark from freezer compressor motor coulda made some serious fridge shrapnel lol. I cleared out all of the bodega shady marts within a 20 mile radius (not the mini stores, their butane wasn't as good for some reason). Bought cases of butane at a time, certain brands were much cleaner smelling than others. Cut deals with these places, they asked if I needed any new butane stoves to go along with the amount I was buying lol. Learned the hard way that stove butane does NOT equal lighter butane. Think I lost a few chunks of lung and 17,000 brain cells with that hit lol.
Every week for over 2 months straight, I'd hear the garbage man dumping my recycling bin. That fucker was jam PACKED with 100% empty butane cans. 80 gal garbage can worth. The sound of empty metallic cylinders all *ping ting ping ting ting ping* early in the morning ? I always wondered if the compressing in the garbage truck would explode them somehow but guess not lol.

Then he drives off to pick up my neighbor's trash and I hear a shit ton of glass beer bottles crashing and breaking like at the recycling center - all down the street, sound fading as he continues on. Garbage man probably thought "WTF is wrong with this block?" lmaooooooo ???

So have an experiment that's interests me a little. Colors/anthocyanins! Recently acquired some purps...gotta jar em up with 62 bovedas. wandering how the anthocyanins are going to perform in the rosin. I guess we will find out.. I have seen some crazy bubble washes of purple strains that look almost blueberry color.

I did a small press of the buckeye previously was definitely darker, more floral terps, runny as shite.

Buckeye left Doha right in the pic,

I got the dummy, push-the-button Dulytek 6000.....no adj on pressures/etc. Time/temp parameters......but nothin else.

I only do one squish. Setting @ 190-195 now......135 seconds. Been squishing 5 day dry buds lately. All winter I've been squishing last year's cured outdoor take. Much darker squish on a consistent basis with the cured/dried product. The fresh bud definitely offers a bit better flavor. and a far lighter in color product...but it's all good in my book.

I just hit 650 presses on my unit. Had it a year and a half now. there are certainly things I'd change if I could....but overall I'm very happy and it works very well for my needs. Definitely "fire in fire out"........especially with the terps....which is my main focus. Good stuff, Maynard.
My first press was probably similar. Though the Dulytech look way better lol... it was the first version of the rosineer pneumatic. it got the job done for sure, maybe 3-4 years. you basically set temp and time for the platens, and that is it. Always had to use an IR gun, because the reading on the screen were always incorrect. Press two buttons, and away you squish.

I felt helpless when i knew it got hotter than I wanted to and I could smell and taste the terps in the air just running away. I wanted more finesse, and went with a manual pump with gauge finally so i can calculate the exact pressure needed across the area of the puck. Always look for consistency and feel. I know some are so good its all by "feeling", I just figure by knowing the right area to be in, and seeing whats happening will allow me to also "see" what i need to "feel".. the finesse part...

One key thing , and it should have been one of the first things I said as its probably the most important: 62% RH, if dry jar em with a 62 boveda

Just to put this on here (Relative to Dabpress driptech 10ton)

2.25 is the coeff number relative to the cylinder on the press.

2.25 x PSI on the gauge = Total Force Delivered
Total Force Delivered / Surface Area of Material (sq/in) = PSI at the material
For flower - the suggested range is between 800-1200 PSI at the material.
For fine material – the suggested range is between 400-600 PSI at the material.

For a 1.75" cylinder shaped puck from using 30mm pre-press mold, 2.4 sq/in at 1500 PSI you need 3600 pounds of pressure.

1593 PSI on gauge = 14.5 x 112 = 1633kg = 1.8 tons = 3600 pounds

For a 2.5" cylinder shaped puck from using 40mm pre-press mold, 4.9 sq/in at 1500 PSI you need 7350 pounds of pressure.

3280 PSI on gauge = 14.5 x 230 = 3335kg = 3.67 tons = 7350 pounds

apologies for the ramble ...took a globber to the dome

So here was the weekend test.
I decided I was going to do something new for myself press hotter than I normally do. Pressed at 215F 1:45

10g Buckeye Purple
~1.2g return for 12%
Dark purple blob. This was some runny stuff. If I didn't have the cold plate it would have been impossible to collect this much right now. There is probably just as much on the paper.

10g Triple Purple Doha
I'd say at least 1.5g if I can get the rest up off the paper. I was getting pissed afraid I almost woke up the wife and kids.
This was as the runniest of runny. I practically had to scoop it off the paper as you do hash out of bubble bags. Soooo much still on the paper..not even the cold plate helped.

10g GG#4
I didn't get a pic of the gg puck. Or weight of what I got... I figure being irritated with the Doha, I just blasted the peak. Perfect. Problem solved. So great forgot what I was doing..o_O

So for me, I don't like the runs, note to self below 200F. ;)

Later all, and thanks for letting me ramble.

So here is what was frustrating me still after 24hr not coming up. This may take couple days. Terps are very floral and very strong. The stingy , kinda flavor on the pallet. Seems very medicinal as I'm super relaxed, and was amped lugging the ittie bitties to bed, and cleaning up. Check out how much is still on this parchment.

Here is what we look like after the 2nd day of cold curing. Sometimes, it just doesn't get time to cure though.

Been trying what was still on the parchment. Which there is still quite a bit. Why the pucks are untouched.

What we have here is:
Material pressed at the same time, temp, and pressure.

Buckeye Purple - this really formed up
Looks hard, but it's really not. More like caramel. You can really see the anthocyanins when it's spread out. Dang does it dirty up a nail.

Doha - looks like it is starting to butter up or sugar up

GG4- looks great can't wait, the layers of the rosin forming look cool, and the nose is just plain stankin gg. As soon as the caps off it fills the room.

@stiickygreen is this the one that you have? I think it is. Does it have the ability, or do it on its own to apply more pressure after the initial squish?
@Deebs Check this one out.
or does the pressure customization make a huge difference?
I really like the push a button and let it do its thing operation.

Reading through the specs on the Dulytek, it looks sweet. I know a lot of people like them. Thee must be a reason :)

Time, temperature, pressure is all dependent on the genetics/strain. I usually run a 5g puck to see where I am at as a tester.

There is a different amount of PSI needed between flower rosin / hash rosin. You want to use about half the pressure for hash ~500psi, and a 25u stainless pouch. When you have control of the pressure, it gives you access to both hash rosin/flower rosin. I burnt up hash like a charred puck in my ol pneumatic rosineer, never tried it again.

One other note to make about pressure, bag blowout happens a lot when pressed quickly, I ramp up pressure slowly for 20-30 sec to get the trichs all melty, then quickly apply the needed PSI across the puck. As the rosin flows the psi starts dropping, and continued application of pressure is needed to keep it at the sweet spot.

Here is what I use now:

No @JL2G .......there's no programming/ a pre-press/second squeeze or adjustment to the pressure that is applied. My press does kinda give a last bit of "oomph" after you think it has stopped on about 1/2 of the squishes......but it's not a programmed thing....just luck. I would enjoy being able to make adjustments to the pressure for hash as @Deebs describes but I have a few ideas that may work around such issues. Just gonna have to play and see when I get the time/product/etc.

I think it's a popular press because it is fully automatic. Some of the Rosin Tech/etc models don;t do anything more and they are 4X the cash. The 3 x 5 plates are nice for personal use. It's built like a tank. Because there's no $$$ in it here it was what I was comfortable spending and I've been plenty happy with it. for the $$$.

If we didn't have the plague goin on I'd say come up sometime before you buy and run this and see what you think. Should this cloud blow over/should it warm up before you buy something we can figure it out/etc.

Always wondered if I were in a legal St, if I'd be able to set up a press shop. So people can bring theirs mats and do what they want. Assistance and best practices there if needed.

These guys are definitely the ones killing the scene. Pure Pressure. If I we're going into business, the pike peak or long peak all the way. Pre configured runs everything. I almost bought the helix 3 ton, but decided to not jump into it, and learn what I'm doing first before jumping into something with advanced features, like these, and way more automated.

Pure Pressure Rosin Presses

A lot of rosin labs use these.

Pure Pressure. Colorado made. Yup. They >like< 'em a lot too. Heehheee. But yeah...if there would have been a market/payback...I would have made such a jump. Seriously nice rigs..... There ya go Jesse. LOL. I'll come use yours..... lemme know when it's gonna arrive. :ROFLMAO:
They sure look damn nice and all, but wow what a price tag. Way outta my budget. Lmfao
