And don't hook into a Sturgeon unless you've ridden a jet ski ? I just can't even imagine trying to hold on with one of those taking off.

When I Tuna fished by pole the Kingfish had a similar reputation if you hooked one . Their swimming action and shape looked so inferior in terms of power generated when compared to Tuna but you couldn’t be more wrong . They’d look docile cruising up through the boats propeller wash scouting a feed in cruise mode while the ( Formula 1) Tuna would be blasting all over the place .
Was always funny to watch the new boy rookie learn the hard way . “ what’s that fish ?”
“Oh yeah that’s a Kingy , leave your hook where it is and you’ll nail one shortly “
As soon as the King Fish felt the weight of the hook bedding in it was game on . You’d instantly realise don’t judge a fish by its demeanour and be prepared to end up with your arms longer than your legs if the thing hit the afterburner .

Humans have been found in their stomachs, and they've cap sized boats, and pulled people into the river with their impressive strength. No such thing as overkill when the fish starts getting larger than the angler .
Years ago we had an angler out catching a Great White off Neptune Island .
He was from all accounts more than familiar with the power of these beasts .
Away he went strapped with harness into his game chair mounted to the rear aft deck .
Deckhand reversing the white boat up on the Shark to make for an easier time .
Then within only seconds there was a crack sound as his chair with him strapped in pulled out of its mounts and cannoned straight over the stern and into the sea still attached to the White Shark .
I don’t know the exact details but his deckhand managed to get him back onboard somehow !!!
Imagine those few moments and realisation you are now in the water , still strapped into your chair with a pissed off Great White .
I’d have nightmares for the rest of my life .

Lol, I'll say this much; at least the Reels most people would use on fish that big, ate Lever Drag Reels. Soon as I felt myself flying towards the water, I'd slide my thumb on that Drag Lever and drop it down so I wouldn't go too far lol. Once the Drag is down, unhook from chair, and try to get back in the boat before the reel is out of line.
