What did you do today?

Went woodcutting again today . Stocking up for the winter . My brother was about an hour ahead of me . Red wine and guests sent me to bed about 0400 am so off my best a little . I pull up next to him and he’s found an area down a slope from the road so I really appreciated lugging all the wood back up the slope so my shrivelled up brain felt every step .
On the way home the brother had to slow down and stop while this fawn stood in the middle of the road staring at him . Now where you guys are that’s probably no big deal but for us well I’ve never seen one while driving and I believe it’s the first one he’s seen because he was pretty excited to tell me . Ok I got nothing else . I just thought I’d share that because I’m bored and have not much else to dribble about . I think I’m ready to Elvis my Television . It’s about as interesting as a stamp collection .

I was a little concerned. We had a chat the previous time I'd dropped in, and when she'd asked about my thoughts of local life I was honest. I expressed my views, which do not match those of the average rural Albertan. Afterwards I had visions of my car being pushed to the back of the queue, but apparently I expressed myself in an acceptable way. 🤷‍♂️

I intentionally lean into the persona of the rough talking redneck. Over the decades, I've found if I'm going to reach any of these folks, if they are going to listen to anyone from outside the echo chamber, that person has to look and sound like them, even if the words are new. It's a game I've played on a thousand jobsites. I win and I lose, but I never regret ante-ing up. :)
That mate is a skill in itself . The message !
Now to deliver it in a way that penetrates the local mindset and culture .
It’s almost like a couch that’s in his latter years trying to find a way to relate to these young punks so they actually take in the old farts message .
I used to laugh when I was in the company of our local Mediterranean immigrants . If I spoke in terms I normally do they’d nod like they understood my point but then have this clueless look on their face and struggle to add to the conversation . If I threw my hands around while talking , threw in a few expletives and a bit of emotion and they’d fire up with me . Bloody funny bunch .

When I was younger a neighbor had a property and he wanted to know if I wanted to drive 3 hours and cut up trees at bottom of canyon and carry back up to save on buying firewood - I said NO - I can buy a cord of wood for $100

He bought the property for $1000 - had a really nice cabin and 10 acres - turns out it was sold after the son of a lady was growing pot on it. So the mom lost her property because her son was growing weed. Thought that sucked. I visited it to go hunting and you could still see where the son had dug 100 holes for the plants.

Seems a bit harsh to lose the property . I’d understand it you acquired the property from the proceeds of crime . I’ll bet the son was popular with the family for awhile .
Normally I’ve bought my wood but this year the price for a ton of chopped wood went up to $300 . I’m still young enough to swing the chainsaw and it’s maybe a 25 minute drive to the fallen wood so I’m up for it until my back tells me otherwise .

Dug the grass out of a block shaped section in the yard to try to grow corn so it doesn't take up so much raised bed space.
Met a guy from cl to get the three left side pedals shown (other 3 are new from bezos), he said at a coffee shop and I immediately have this image in my mind of what the person would be like. Completely wrong, he just wanted to meet in the parking lot haha. Brought me back to the old days of meeting up for a bag in random places... anyway super nice guy, hippy type but super articulate and well spoken to the point of really impressing me.
Now I'm beat, want to go for a bike ride but I've already got a few hours of direct sun today.. might be a bad idea to get anymore., plus I'm tired. Not a fan of sunscreen. Which is dumb of me, I know. At my last checkup the doctor said I should probably go to a dermatologist and have a head to toe. Didn't say anything specific, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's some stuff that's needs removal (c word).
Anyways hope everyone's having a good day! I enjoy dropping in here to read people's stories.

$300 i would cut myself also. here in central california all you need is a cord and i havent burned wood in 15 years. I had a 40 foot palm tree in back yard and quotes were very high to cut it down $2000 - my wife went out of town and i bought a milwaukee electric chainsaw - my sons and I cut it down and dropped it in the water by my dock and let it sink - now its a bass habitat.

Well at least I'm back in rebuilding hell, instead of the hell of waiting, to get to rebuild.
Lost a few holding plants, not as bad as I expected to. But I really hate to lose a plant, any plant, but, I'm striving to not snivel to badly about it all.
Oh well, brutal week, to be honest, and in a few more hours, I'll glowing again, in the proper places, LOL!
Loving life as Panda Film monkey!!

My morning starts early filling up the bird feeders, then walking the perimeter of the pond tossing a large coffee cans worth of
floating fish food for the hybrid bluegills in our pond. After spending 10 to 15 minutes slowly walking the pond perimeter tossing
out fish food, I'll sit down on the large rock in front of the pond and spend 15 minutes to a half hour counting the number of
rises of fish that come to the surface to feed on the floating pellets. For the last week that number has been around 700 rises.
Today in 20 minutes of watching and counting, I got to 1000. Cool beans.

Because I've seen a bunch of perch coming to the surface this last week to feed on the floating pellets, which is something they
don't normally do, I made the decision to go the the hatchery 3 days ago and buy 2 gallons of fathead minnows for the perch to
feed on. Late fall I'll add another 2 gallons of them to get the perch through the winter. The price went up quite a bit. Last year
they were $50.00 per gallon. This year, $72.00.

Came in and smoked a doob of some Godfather OG that is just now finishing curing. I like it. Will grow again.

Just started some beans a few days ago. Some reg Freakshow which is the strangest looking weed plant I've ever seen. Leaves look like a fern plant.
Some Pure Michigan, and some fem Cap Junkies.

Every other day I water my garden starter plants growing in flats in one of
my grow tents that will soon be put in the garden. Every other day for the veggies in flats. Almost 9 flats with 48 per flat.

Mowing our yard takes almost 3 hours on the riding mower, and I did that for the second time this year yesterday. I spent about
an hour with the skimming net in our pond today skimming out dead debris and branches from some high winds
yesterday as well as some algae.

Played guitar for a little over an hour recording some tracks for a new song. Gave our neighbor the money for another 1/4 of beef we buy from
him. It will last us not quite a year and then we'll buy another. The butcher shop in town packages it up for us for a very reasonable price.
Later tonight my better half and I will be cleaning out our 23 cubic foot deep freeze to make room for the 1/4 of beef we will have in a day or two.

Yesterday I fished our pond for the third time since the ice went out. I used a white Lil Nipper jig 1/32 of an oz. Barb has been flattened out for easy
release. No bait, just the jig. I could slay them one after another with bait, but like using just the jig. I caught a few perch and hybrid bluegills.
Largest perch caught and released this last week was one around 13 inches. Largest hybrid bluegill was around 11 inches. There are bigger ones in our
pond, but I'm not using bait.

Rolled some doobs to get me to the weekend. :)

Not sure what’s going to happen except a rotting smell in the run off perhaps but I’m willing to risk my lady . Let’s see . Indoor trying outdoor 🤷‍♂️ View attachment 203229 View attachment 203230 I swear it’s looking at me .
I do that same thing with my fish guts every week. Then I post up with my .22 and wait for the raccoons, coyotes and fox to come in. Those 3 are responsible for countless chickens over the years. Some people hate it but it brings me great joy to turn the tables on those little bastards 😂

In the morning,
Laughing happy fish heads,
In the evening,
Floating in the soup,
Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

Ask a fish head,
Anything you want to,
They won't answer,
They can't talk

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

I took a fish head,
Out to see a movie,
Didn't have to pay
To get it in

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,

They dont wear sweaters,
There not good dancers,
They dont play drums

Roly poly fish heads are never seen
Drinking cappucino in Italian resturants,
With oriental women, yeah

When I was growing up still living at home, I used to catch a few carp in the 10 to 15 lb size and chop each one up into 6 or 7 pieces. We would
then bury them in the garden a couple feet down beneath where our tomato plants would go. Biggest and healthiest tomato plants I've ever seen.

My grandpa and pops always buried fish guts around the garden plants...Massive tomatoes...I've never done it indoor..No reason why it shouldn't work well
