Haven't updated this much, other than to post weird ass memes of stuff that probably sounds gross, or as I call it "Breeder Goals" LOL.
So, all 5 of the Rotted Skunk Pecker Cheese I have, are doing very well. I think sometimes I forget to put stuff in this thread, because I'm normally just updating my journal with everything, but this is more or less my "idea" thread, and having some info about what I did might be of use at some point.
5 seeds, and so far I have 3 females for sure, and at least one male. There may be another male but it's not sexed yet. I'm not sure if I'm going to use the Males or not, because that will depend on a few things. I'm not going to actually use a male just because I have it and just because it's a Cheese. I'd like to actually make something special. I think my best chance at that, is to only breed with what I'd consider the best. I can't take less than good stuff and actually expect to find something great out of that, so I won't.
I also have a Velveeta Male outside, and he's a great looking plant. So it appears I've got at least two Males to decide on. If any of them are really nice, and begin to show me what they can do, then I'll start to think about which to keep, and what to use him for. I don't have a permanent tent still, so it's a once and done sort of thing. But I'm OK with that.
The smell and structure will make me look the most, but I'd really like to also see a strong healthy plant that isn't going to fall down every time it rains, which so far, we've had some pretty intense storms, and they have all taken it like champs, so I'm happy about that.
I'm not super surprised the Rotted Skunk Pecker Cheese is handling that part; The Mother, Alpha Skunk Cheese, wasn't even strapped to anything, and after multiple storms, I didn't lose a single branch. She had a REALLY incredible stem and branch structure. Kanzeon admired that about her too, and just how flexible the stem was. I'm really excited seeing how these sort of traits get passed down. I've never actually had that chance before.
Normally I grow my plants, do my thing, and cut them down when they're ready, and no males are normally allowed. But now it's different, and I find myself outside staring at the Males to see which one is doing what, and more importantly to me, I'm seeing how "traits" get passed down.
This learning experience is great. I can read about it all day, but until I run seeds from my selections, it's theoretical knowledge at best. Seeing that 3 of the plants look like the Mom, and two of them, are different from BOTH parents, is very interesting to my mind. I keep watching them, and I'm actually finding myself checking out the growth.
The smell..... Boy... I knew what I was playing with when I did this particular one. But I'm still just amazed at how pungent these are. They have had a legit smell since they were 4 inches tall haha.
