Makin' FECO! Love my Pot by Noids cooker

In Bloom
I've been wanting for years to produce my own FECO. There have been (and will probably be more) hiccups along the way, but now I'm finally filling syringes. I only have a small indoor grow so getting more flower is my main challenge. I bought a Pot by Noids canna cooker last year to help produce the FECO and it does great, although I can still manage to make mistakes. BTW, I love that PbN, probably the main complaint I can imagine people having is that it only makes small batches. You can break up the buds by hand, or grind it. I picked up a Wakit electric grinder a couple weeks ago and have been grinding away.

The unit is designed to use decarbed bud and it has a decarb setting that works well with virtually no aroma, with more precise control of temp and timing than you'll generally get from an oven. Then you soak in Everclear, filter, and do an extract cycle on the remaining infused alcohol. My main issue has been a couple of times where I forgot to decarb before pouring in the Everclear. Yeah the heat during the evaporation cycle should do some decarbing, but I feel like I'm not getting the couch lock I'm looking for when I take some at night, so last night I tried something new. I had a couple small dishes (5 gram glass containers with screw-on lids) with the FECO and put them on a candle warmer for a few hours at around 180F or so. We'll see if that helped.

It's exciting for me to finally be to the point where I can grow and process my own medicine.

Last time I had some everclear I had a full head of hair. What's the ratio on flower to oil?
I'm trying to pin that down myself. Like I said, this unit does fairly small batches. I usually run around 15-20 grams of bud and get back maybe a couple grams of FECO. I wish I could find my powder scale from when I did reloading because it's more precise. Then I need to remember to weigh the container I put it in before I add the FECO.

Long soak (feco) is meant for a cool, dark spot, like a closet. Qwet (quick wash ethanol) is meant for freezer only gets cannanaboids and some terpenes. Feco is a full plant extraction (lipids, waxes, chlorophyll, terpenes, cannanaboids).

Check out Green Dragon.
I definitely want both cannabinoids and terpenes. I know a little about Green Dragon and that's basically what I've made when I pull the FECO before it's fully extracted and put it in a dropper bottle. Right now I'm strictly focused on FECO to fight my cancer.

I can donate a 100 gram jar of 99.999% pure cbd isolate powder to ya (just cover shipping). Add this to your green dragon/tincture after the filtering of the solids process.

A few people have shows + results with the addition of cbd to help treat cancer. 1g per day is the average to start.

I picked up a Vevor water distiller $85 with temperature settings, set to 80c/176f. Put in 680 ml of wash and started her up. Twenty minutes later it was done and I got 2/3 of my alcohol back...hell ya...this beats hours to run double boiler when doing several ounces of trim.

What you see in the beaker is the oil plus a small amount of fresh everclear I used to clean the distiller afterwards. I moved this beaker to a coffee warmer and cooked off the rest to finish it off.

I still have to decarb old school in my small oven/air fryer in quart mason jars, freeze, wash and strain but the cook off of alcohol is now minimal.

Only used this once and I was blown away BUT I would not leave unit unattended or use inside obviously. I plan to do a tutorial of sorts just as soon as I get around to running another batch.

I did this same exact way about 8yrs back. They make a water distiller and an alcohol distiller. Water boiler at a higher temp than alcohol. When you use a water distiller to distiller alcohol, you'll loose a bit of alcohol due to the higher heat vs using a distiller made for alcohol which uses a lower temp.

Edited:
I tried to find my extraction pics of my distiller use, w/o any luck. If you put your collection jar in a tub of cool water, it will condense some of the alcohol vapors that escape when dripping.

BP of ethanol is 173*f
BP of h20 is 204*f (iirc)
This is at sea level.

Yes sir, I saw the Alcohol distiller but opted for this cheaper water model because it has adjustable Temp settings down to 78 C/176F,
I wouldn't use one for doing this without having temp control for sure.

Nice tip on cooling and condensing, will do... thanks

It's not a set it and forget it but its nice to not have to waste hours babysitting cooking it all away in vapor doing old school...We'll see if she lasts.

If you need a more potent oil, why not just do an extraction, alcohol and weed.
Then afterwards, separate the weed, do not separate the oil from the alcohol.
Add fresh weed, and run the distillate again.
Then repeat.
Once you finally boil off the alcohol, that oil will be very potent.

In 1978, I bought a ISO Machine, that went into a dumpster the other day actually.

1 10 2023 026.JPGI lived in Chicago area back then, and met a chemistry student, that went crazy for my machine!
He gave me a bunch of ideas ands how to's, as the East Chicago area, was FULL of Indiana field weed.
Huge plants, big fists of buds, but you could smoke gobs of it and not get much high at all.
He would run this machine to what he called *doubling* some we'd run the same alcohol for a weekend, to make potent oil.
I could not find a good pic of my machine, but it is on left, beside the dust pan, opposite side a snow shovel.
That is what I remember anyway. I could be wrong of course, if you remember the 70's, you were not doing something correctly, LOL!!
