I took a look at that spider farmer system, it is quite ingenious.
It looks like the magic is happening within what they call the 'shutoff valve box'
It would seem to shut off valve box is functioning much like an automatic pet watering dish.
I am imagining that the box is air tight, and when water is drawn from the system, air is exchanged for water.
The water level is lowered when the pet drinks. The only way more water can escape is during a hostage exchange for air.
That is how it is working in my head, anyway. I am thinking you will hear random slurping sounds, as the air sneaks back into the system. The only part I don't get is the manufacturers claim of supplying fresh oxygenated water. The oxygen content of static water is nearly directly proportional to its temperature.
It is a really nifty system, and I can see why it is essential to keep everything bang-level.
