Price of electricity

Electricity is more expensive these days, and it’s going to get worse.
LED lightning is much more efficient than bulbs, but it’s still easy to pull 1,000+ watts at the wall.

What will the future look like for indoor growers?
Here in the PNW, the legal cannabis market is very competitive and prices are low.

Is it different in your area?

I had to go look and see what legal prices are. Looks like the gov't is keeping prices pretty high. During a quick browse, I saw 1/8s for ~$40, 1/4s around 70 and I saw a zip for ~$110. Not saying that is a good representation of prices, it's just what I saw.
Almost everything is listed as being around 30% THC.

I only consume what I grow. I haven't figured out a $/gr electrical cost for years, but I know it's a hell of a deal. My power bill is currently about $100/month and I jar around 8 zips.

I don't know what black market is selling for. I don't buy or sell, only share.

Where I live, the herb worth buying is still 40-60 an eighth, 80-140 a qtr and I don't even fuck with the halfs or full zips at those prices 👎 oh and you might find the occasional zip of snickelfritz larf for 150-180 👎👎

I will always opt to pay a smidge more electricity rather than get back into the rec market if I can help it

On that note, even in the peak of a 100+° Summer, our bill due to grow equipment never peaked above 25/mo for that calculated portion. Our rec habit was like 300-380/mo

The best deal on dispo weed here is an ounce for $200....you get to pick 8 1/8ths of your choice....most of that is good pot. But aside from that, 1/8's , 1/4's are priced high. There are some other bulkier offerings of weed with slightly lower prices, but usually not as good. I can still get $200 for a zip but not as many needing it anymore, and it's rarer. Edibles is another matter, gummy business is booming. Dispos ain't even close on those :)

The pricks that supply the electricity have given us all new meters..........this way they can charge a premium for daytime electric use. No way to escape that premium if you are vegging.

25-130 for an ounce here. The Jenny Kush is 130 an ounce normally, I tried an 1/8 and it wasn't bad, but I won't spend money on it, any of it. Been 15 years or more since I've had to spend money so I could get stoned.

For years I grew for basically free outside. Didn't even use lights for starts. Would just keep them outside and bring them in at night if it was cold.

Growing under lights is pretty new to me. It's fun but not feasible in the summer in my current situation. Really enjoy having a little oasis when it blizzards outside for two days straight. My electric bill is actually cheaper in the winter when I grow vs not growing. I have electric baseboard heaters, and they don't run much when I have the grow lights and plants going. When I wasn't growing those heaters ran way more and I had to use all of them, using 3 of 5 heaters right now and it's 20f outside, a cozy 69 in the living room.

Nothing I do indoors compares to the outside garden. Love seeing them in all their glory basking in the sunshine. Makes the chopped up, stuffed in a tent plants look like small beans.

I don’t have a license to buy govt. cannabis, nor will I ever, so I have no idea what it sells for.
I couldn't even tell you the price of black market weed or where to get it? Pretty isolated here.
I’m pretty sure I’d smoke an electric bill pretty quick if I had to buy what I smoke.
I’m full time. :stoned:

Not directly related to the cost of electricity but I'm changing the way I pheno hunt for now. It takes too much space (more space, more electricity, more time/cost...) to justify when I can grab a known/evaluated clone for $25 vs. hunting a pack or more and not have to hold cuts and all that. I usually end up with one or two stand outs but instead of maximizing those, the are onlay a spall percent of the yield.

Even with a dispo cut someone else has at least given it a determination if it's something they have in their rotation that it at leas has some redeeming quality.

Most of my hunting will be done outdoors, it might be next fall before I flower anything I've seleceted from seed (Current veg tent autos excluded) indoors.

Currently flowering Mac 'N Cheese and will be doing MAC1 from the same place next.
