7th Day Seeds
Documenting from seed to finish how I do my microgreens. Pea, sunflower and wheatgrass for now. If other people are into sprouting please join in here.
These wheatgrass shots are really helping me deal with stomach issues as well as general inflammation in my body, I've only been drinking them regularly for a couple of weeks but now my body is asking for them shots so I know there is something really good in there that I need.
Start by getting the right equipment and seeds.
It's really important to have the correct trays and seeds for doing microgreens. You have to use mesh trays that go on top of a solid bottom tray, this allows the roots to grow through the mesh and to be able to bottom water. Microgreens can easily mold it's important to only do the bottom watering.
These trays are designed to fit together and are very solid. They are made in USA and will last you a long time.
The seeds I get fom True Leaf Market, they have a great reputation and a nice variety.
The pea, sunflower and wheatgrass all need to be activated with at least a 12 hrs soak. After a lot of R&D this is a good amount to use per tray. about 8oz per. Other microgreens like salad mix type stuff don't need to be soaked and can be directly planted. Having one of these mesh screens is critical, you can make one or they sell them.
I rinse them a couple times then soak. They go in the pantry where it's dark. Will report back tomorrow.
