2024 Grow Journal One Hitter Quitter F2

Ok Gentlemen it's 2024, and this post in behind schedule, so lets get started with the basics.

These are Boneyard Seeds Norcal, One Hitter Quitter F2s, all taken from the same male female pairing.

The lineage is (1992 Romulan x Cataract Kush) x UK cheese to make Space Cheese, Space cheese was then crossed to the JJNYC Corey cut of Stardawg.

Seeds were started indoors, in riot cubes, in a domed seed tray, seeds all sprouted with in 1-3 days.

The light in this case was an HLG 100, and while I know next to nothing about lights it seems to have served it's purpose.

Once they were sprouted it didn't take too long. Out of the first six, I had one completely duded plant that never developed clorophyl which was weird, and threw a few out because they simply packed the vigor I was looking for.

I also developed a little alage on my riot cubes, but it never seemed to become an issue, it was also my first time working with the cubes and I am actually kind of impressed by them and annoyed by them at the same time.

After not to long, i upstaged my seedlings into their first pots, just some repurpused vegetable containers.

So as one would expect of F2s from a poly hybrid, the morphological traits were all over the board, as an example, heres a leaf morpholgy comparison that I made while trimming.

Sadly I should have fone the long fingered thin leaf first, as it rapidly curled, the hyper serrated one is really cool too.

I don't really take any pictures again until around April, mostly I was too busy preparing my outdoor garden, but I flipped them into flower in march to sex them before they went out doors as I wanted to hold my potential males in doors in veg.

They got a little roughed up, as I still had my cover on the hoop house, and the temperature suddenly spiked and I wasn't able to check on them for two days sadly.

From now on, the cover comes off in march regardless of what else I have going on.

As you can see, I have been aggressively topping, and training, trying to spread out the canopy as much as I can, one of the plants seemes to be struggling to go back into veg but I'll wait to see how it reacts as the days get longer.

One thing I've notice is that the plants display both three and five fingered morpholgies, no real clue why, some data I read suggests that's just something poly hybrids do occasionally but there can be other factors that cause it.

Of the two males, one had dog shit stucture, so I selected this one which I felt was a much better selection.

Those Moss Cubes are awesome. Been using them for a while now, and I do like them. I don't ever manage to fit my clones into that teeny tiny hole though; I end up just tearing it a new one (teehee) so that the big ass clones will actually fit in them. I don't like doing little cuts for clones, as I started out not really knowing what to do, but I learned quick, and so I start out by tearing the cube open a bit, and then, I stick either a seed with it's taproot in there, or, a clone. I like them for seedlings, as it allows the more finicky seedlings times to grow before hitting new soil. For clones, I like it because it's easy for roots to get in there. I do sometimes just toss the seeds and clones right in dirt, but clones I dip in Clonex first, and water with the Clonex stuff you add to water.

So as for Space Cheese, I couldn't tell you, Mr.Toad has never released that one, he did a Bx3 of it once but I've never gotten a hold of those seeds.

Supposedly it smells kinda like Parmesan, the one plant of the One Hitter Quitter that I had to that did express a cheese profile was very on the sharp blue cheese side of things like a gorgonzola or Rochefurt, but heavily mixed with Skunk and kerosene.

I also need to do another round of topping in a few days, as well as spray another round of diluted castile soap on my garden to keep down on any potential pests.

Fortunately we just got a good soaking rain a few days agon so I won't have to water for at least a week or two, but I am a little worried about the slug activity in my garden.

Been laying out beer traps but mostly catching pincher bugs and cockroaches.

Get some copper tape and wrap it around the stem of the plant. I started doing this last year and had no slug issues. In the past they've killed me, wiped out entire plants. Copper tape works and it's so easy to do. As the stem grows you do have to keep an eye on the tape as it will loosen and potentially fall off. Nothing else worked for the slugs, tried every kind of bait and killer there is, the tape is the only thing that worked to keep them off my plants.
