I'm very excited also. I messed up and fed them with my flower mixture. But they don't look too bad. I plan on putting them in 1gal pots soon.I’m pumped! Your the first that I know to crack Bobberr Bandaid ? ?
Got a few questions for the hydro guys, if anybody still reading. Lol
What's in your sterile reservoir? What makes it sterile? And how much do you use. And how do you add as the growth progresses? Thanks for the help
I do same , slightly damp paper towel in a zip lock . If they haven’t cracked in 24 hrs I usually hand crack .I do straight to very moist, not wet, paper towels. Just tap water. Those go in a used grocery store sliced turkey container, which is basically tupperware. Put the lid on and put them in a cabinet. Unless your house is unusually cool, no added heat is necessary. My experienced guess would be that any temp between 64 and 82 and you should be good.
As to a sterile reservoir, I think I've heard the term used, but have no first hand experience. I rinse off the rocks and rinse out the buckets between crops, both w/ tap water, and reuse the styrofoam cups no more than 3 times. Don't know about you, but that sounds like 'good enough' as opposed to sterile, but it works just fine.

Sterile means "free from living organisms and especially pathogenic microorganisms." Sterile reservoir refers to a "dead" solution, meaning there are no biologicals being added in the nutrient mix. Sterile-rez hydro growers use chemical oxidizers (chlorine, hydrogen peroxide) to prevent any unwanted biological growths (pythium, brown algae) from forming in the solution. I've run sterile rez's before and they work fine as long as you keep up with the oxidizing agent level. I found it drops off too frequently to be practical large scale. Bleach and pool shock was the least expensive and easiest to test levels in solution (pool test strips). What's in your sterile reservoir? What makes it sterile? And how much do you use. I usually plant by the moon as well. I was just excited about these seeds.Hate to rain on the parade, but,,,, this is the worst part of the mooon cycle to get beans up. We're going inro tge last quarter, that's for root crops lol.
Just sayin, mine aren't coming up fast and I know better, should've waited 10 days lol.
Patience in golden here.
It's actually one of the commonest and silliest mistakes ALL farmers make from time to time.I usually plant by the moon as well. I was just excited about these seeds.
My bad all around this time. Sorry ?
I haven't tried rapid rooters. Maybe it's time to try them out.I've mentioned this elsewhere but for whatever reason, I always hated the paper towel method. Rapid Rooters have been my go to for years and I'll plug them every chance I get, especially after trying Root Riots, which can suck it. Also, get it? Plug them? Cause they're plugs? I'll see myself out now....
But before I go! I do need to supplement heat. I find seeds germ quickest for me around 85 degrees in the plugs, so heat mat or on top of my T5 light and I usually have germination in 24-48 hours. Then I start trying to hand crack anything that didn't do it on its own.
I don't even peek until 48 hrs most times.I do same , slightly damp paper towel in a zip lock . If they haven’t cracked in 24 hrs I usually hand crack .
I've heard that for many years and never paid it any mind, which is not saying that you're wrong by any means. But these just popped; the 4th is cracked.Hate to rain on the parade, but,,,, this is the worst part of the mooon cycle to get beans up.
Happy Birthday! Glad it was a good day. There's always more awesome genetics around the next corner...? The tea set is definitely going to be a family heirloom. Still a lot these days to be thankful for!!!Yesterday was my birthday. I had pretty good day even though I had to miss out on Reds drop☹️. My daughter made me an awesome tea set in her pottery class. Pretty cool if I say so.
Hope everyone has a Happy Halloween.
