Audio Bliss,,,What are your goals if you rebuild the crossover?
JK,
I have taken Peter Parker's Hippocratic Oath. With soldering iron comes great responsibility. My first goal is to do no harm, with a bit of luck I get everything put back together stealthily so no one notices.
,,,, if it's the natural progression of the troubleshooting tree. Otherwise known as diagnosing by credit card.
Tweets had a bit of crackle at the top end,,,
Replaced diaphrams.
Tweets still crackle at top end,,,
1. I received a bad tweeter
2. I damaged Tweeter or incorrectly installed
3. Bad path between tweeter and Speaker Cabinet terminal.
Most likely culprits are bad solder, bad caps, bad resistor,,, it is most likely a failed component or a bad connection~ induction coils don't usually fail.
I refurbished the crossovers in my Infinity il-10's. All the individual electronic components are typically well labelled and direct replacement can be found online.
No different than repairing an automatic transmission or a cell phone,,, you just put everything back EXACTLY where you found it. Sure, it is helpful if you understand the function and the purpose of the components ;however it is not integrally necessary.
Anyone can replace drum brakes. Provided you only do one side at a time, and make it look BLOODY exactly like the other side.
There was a moment when I thought this would not work although the components had identical spec the casing size was different. My error was thinking to dimensionally. Yes, the crossover had to fit back to the terminal cup hole but there was no limit on how deep I could make the thing.
The big cap is sitting on its own stilts.
Overall nice fit and finish on these Infinities. The front baffles got to be 2 in thick
I was just going to snap a picture ,but when I got the crossover terminal out I realized that (F'n) mice had filled this entire thing with bird seed ! I pulled them apart for a complete cleaning.
