What are your goals if you rebuild the crossover?
Audio Bliss,,,
JK,

I have taken Peter Parker's Hippocratic Oath. With soldering iron comes great responsibility. My first goal is to do no harm, with a bit of luck I get everything put back together stealthily so no one notices.

,,,, if it's the natural progression of the troubleshooting tree. Otherwise known as diagnosing by credit card.
Tweets had a bit of crackle at the top end,,,
Replaced diaphrams.
Tweets still crackle at top end,,,

1. I received a bad tweeter
2. I damaged Tweeter or incorrectly installed
3. Bad path between tweeter and Speaker Cabinet terminal.

Most likely culprits are bad solder, bad caps, bad resistor,,, it is most likely a failed component or a bad connection~ induction coils don't usually fail.

I refurbished the crossovers in my Infinity il-10's. All the individual electronic components are typically well labelled and direct replacement can be found online.
No different than repairing an automatic transmission or a cell phone,,, you just put everything back EXACTLY where you found it. Sure, it is helpful if you understand the function and the purpose of the components ;however it is not integrally necessary.

Anyone can replace drum brakes. Provided you only do one side at a time, and make it look BLOODY exactly like the other side.

20201231_132049_HDR.jpg
There was a moment when I thought this would not work although the components had identical spec the casing size was different. My error was thinking to dimensionally. Yes, the crossover had to fit back to the terminal cup hole but there was no limit on how deep I could make the thing.

The big cap is sitting on its own stilts.
20201231_132153.jpg
Overall nice fit and finish on these Infinities. The front baffles got to be 2 in thick
20201231_140136.jpg
I was just going to snap a picture ,but when I got the crossover terminal out I realized that (F'n) mice had filled this entire thing with bird seed ! I pulled them apart for a complete cleaning. 20201231_134644.jpg

Sweet, usually the baffles are just standard mdf. It doesn’t look like they overlooked the box’s role in the equation. Was the seed in the upper part of the cavity near the tweeter diaphragm? That could part of your issue. Although the description sounds more like an intermittent short.

As for your analogy with the drum brakes the margin for error is certainly more favorable in the crossover rebuild.

As you may recall , my batching pit is surrounded by concrete. I still have bags and bags of jack-o'-lantern leaves. Every time we get a good snow I sprinkle the leaves on top and the Chinook melts the pile. The Sun hits it and keeps the action going all winter. I can still break it up with a fork.

Got distracted with the dirt.

I got a little spendy with those caps. The Crossovers are now worth more than the speakers.
Interestingly enough, these are part of my kitchen stereo.
20201231_164652.jpg
Nifty little feature on the bottom right.
Most cell phone jacks are too wimpy to run at line level.
You can adapt to rca; but the voltage is waaay low.
A dedicated input like this one has a pre-amp, in order to bring the signal up to line level. It connects with a 3.5 m double male aux cord.
The only other component in this system is the B Channel Satellites. Have a pair of fine Canuck made PSB 500 in the other room. My galley is only about 300 square feet and the Infinity's really bump in there when I'm doing the dishes.
The Cambridge is underpowered to run those inefficient speakers in a large room.

Never have I seen a plant finish so quickly.
Even I didn't believe it- to the point where I was justifying what I was seeing. I thought perhaps it was physically damaged , I reasoned it may be chemically damaged , I wondered if it had been pollinated,,,
I saw Amber on this plant in the fifth week. It is in the front row and I assumed I had physically damaged it with my elbow. I could see everything pulling in and I kind of thought something was wrong with it. It started getting those turtleheads on top and I actually squeezed a couple calyxes because I assumed they were full of seed: they are not. They just up and done'd
I'm spelling it out for you ,,,in an attempt to believe it myself.

I don't like this kind of bud because I do not have the patience for it. I am I am not going in there and snipping off every one of those stupid leaves individually. I know very well that I will end up sharpening these but like a pencil. It is impossible to tell where the leaf ends and the bud begins. Half of this stuff is going to end up in the trim bin and there won't be much left on the stalk.

,,,, and there I go again,,,opening a post with my complaining hat on.

I need to grow a plant a few times before I really get to know it. Part of me knows environment, light intensity, feeding, and stress can change the look of a bud. I even got a 50/50 going right now.

Just because I cannot get the Chom in focus does not mean that they are not done.
I am shocked. Astonished actually, I've never harvested a plant in the eighth week -nevermind the six.
She flipped November 15.
Luckily , I got some Scarlet Queen pollen on her.
No clones taken, perhaps I should seriously attempt my first re-veg.
As you know I absolutely detest this bud structure. If she had ran nine weeks I wouldn't even bother planting the rest of the pack. However, if she's going to be a super Frost Queen, and amber all up in 45 days, ~that is not something I should let go.

How confident are you it was a photperiod plant?

Seemed conventional photoperiod @SSGrower .
This is the 'best' early flower shot that I have.

She is barely showing sex after 7 days of 12's.
That doesn't necessarily prove my theory, as the plant was just 5 weeks above ground, in that photo.

Here is the remaining 4 branches. The blue tape carries seed.

20210104_095521_HDR.jpg 20210104_095559.jpg

I kept trying to prove my assumption that the declining tops were somehow damaged. However, the scope showed me lots and lots of Amber -even down low on that larfy popcorn stuff

Fruk'n ' beyond meat' buds.
My guess is: she shrinks to nothing and smokes harsh.

The good news is ~~that will be the last of the complaining.
Got a room full of stellar buds here. They are going to start coming down faster than I can photograph them.

Small frame , no stretch. She began a little shaggy ,but I can forgive that if the calyx is swell 'd past the sugar. Looks to be a real Workhorse.
And I am certainly digging that green and the green and yellow contrasts in this photo.

Very typical Tangie bud. There are still a few of my crosses that I have not sown yet although this one seems to be very promising. That is to say :the Sour blood pollen seems to be consistently giving me better plants than the F2 pollen that I collected. So far as to say that, I have no F2 crosses that look better then the worst Blood cross.

It is eight weeks on the nose. It looks done and I am quite happy with that. Unfortunately I only have a dozen more of these beans. I need to take the plunge and crack most of them off,,, as I did collect pollen from one of these males,,, I have hopes of finding another receiver~ just like that one.
The GF Die is my fav. flav.
Definitely going to try to F2 a pile of these ones, seems like a nice match for Unks Red (long run'n) Zööka as well.
