ANTS

not only can they steal ur organic food, but they can be aphids biggest Allie and a major pest if that occurs at larger scale. key is prevention outdoors and to trap them before a colony population gets to unmanageable .

INFO:

Ants have a complicated relationship with other insects that feast on the marijuana leaves. While the ants are protecting these pests from predators like ladybugs, they’re also farming them. This is due to the “honeydew” these insects secrete which is irresistible to the ants. So, if we spot some of the aphids, expect to find some ants, too.

ants are common in a healthy ecosystem especially outdoors. But if we see a swarm of them crawling near the plant, then it’s a clear sign of an infestation. It also means that something in the environment is out of balance.

While tracking the ants can be tricky, it’s important to locate their nest so we can shut them down. To do this, simply follow them as they will lead us to one or two of their colonies.”

key with doing Ipm for ants is you need to make it practical , multi function attack and also a know the timing vs trying to use weak tools and expecting to beat ants so easily.

1. Realize many organic and suggested ways to fight ants is not practical in a full outdoor area but also realizing a lot of these products would have to be re-applied also daily and that also adds time to that ( this is why I do diff things)

2. look for the ant colonies traffic and their home, the reason is the better chances Of poising them and also atttracting them to ur poison instead of ur plants and working with aphids.

3. The ipm tool that I’ve been having sucess and multi seasons is multi function poison that is so attractive to them they act like it’s crack for crackheads and then they poison themselves to death within days and also feed it to the whole colony including the queen. The reason this works compared to many other traps or methods is u can safely put these highly poisonous and affordable in a trap holder and put em next to the colony houses and traffic area’s. i notice after 1-2 days and relook at the traps, the trap will have shit tons of ants in it and a whole traffic to it eating it down like it’s a buffet lol. After doing this method it eliminated my aphid issue but also the ants for most part in the garden zones.

reusable trap made for those products listed above

In my area the ants will colonize old tree stumps. Any tree I take down gets stumped flush with the ground. For me grinding the stump isn't real practical but if you can do it.

I have had luck with ortho boric acid a refined form of Borax.

Do not eat, or allow pets or animals to eat.

Direct contact is the key, find their raceways and where they are going. Humming bird feeder anyone?
