Any soccer/football fans?

It's that time again. 2023 European world cup qualifiers are starting. I played soccer/football from age 6 thru 23. Youth leagues, middle school (2yrs), all 4yrs high school), and a men's league. I was a state certified referee, and I coached an u-12 team.

I even attended a Pele soccer camp at Tampa stadium in the early 90's.

I just started to watch the England vs Italy game. I Dvr all the games.

Arsenal is leading the premier league so far. Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal are my top 3 teams. And don't get me started on the primodonna Renaldo and his new team. It must be nice for a country to change its laws for 1 guy.....

GO00000AAAAAAALLLL!!! The spanish/Mexican commentators say it the best!

?

Toon Army here. This is an exciting time for us. I don't think we'll finish top 4 this year, but the future is bright. Maybe we can manage a 5th and get a Europa run next season? We will see.

I've been following Leeds too this season, given the American representation, but they are looking like a championship side lol

I also follow Carlisle United's progress. They're in a promotion fight for League One this season.

I'll watch the USMNT tonight against Grenada if it's televised. I actually don't care for international breaks except during the WC.

Also since T-Mobile gave me the MLS season pass this year for free, I'm giving MLS a try. Kind of decided on Nashville to root for but I'm still working on my enthusiasm for MLS ?

BTW I like Arsenal to win the EPL this year. They've looked excellent.

Looks like Manchester city win the premier league this yr. It was a close race to the win vs arsenal this yr. Arsenal almost pulled the league win off.

On Tuesday I'm taking a small group of kids at my son's school and gonna teach them the basics. Ball controll, dribbling, heading, trapping a pass then passing. I took my son to the field yesterday, I launched a sweet shot on goal (he was goalie) from distance. It banged off the side post and smacks him in the face. Now he has a black eye.
Lol

I hate the Reds, but you will never see a better goal than this one Garnacho hit today.

Everton, man city and Liverpool are in some trouble with the premier league financial dept. Everton got docked 10 points, and Everton and man city could be regulated down to the lower league, not in the champions league.

Man City could find themselves out of the EFL completely. Not to mention the UEFA trouble.

Manchester teams struggling makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. šŸ˜†

I used to be into soccer big time. Started playing at age 6 in recreational soccer and then moved up to competitive when I was 13. Blew out my knee and lost interest, or started smoking pot regularly lolšŸ¤· at 17. Joined a men's league when I was 22 in Wichita, KS. and coached an U-8 team, an U-6 team back in early 2000's. I got FIFA certified as a ref and did that a couple years. Now I watch my daughter play and coach her team sometimes.

I used to watch every match I could but now I can't keep up. Too many changes with players being loaned (soccer slavery) to other teams and such. I just watch the World Cup now. Gonna try to go to a game or two when it comes back to the US in 2026.

I really want to catch a match at the next World Cup too. Not that I expect much from the USMNT. But any match would do.

i will watch champions league especially after group stage, not too much into EPL except for West Ham. I'm a huge Iron Maiden fan and that's who the guys like. lol. if i've got a bit of insomnia going on, aussie rules football is fun to watch. i got to go to a match when i was in melbourne many years ago.

iv'e always been curious and maybe you know. let's say you end up in London/UK, how much would a ticket set you back to like a major stadium ie man u, man cty, arsenal etc. they seem like most of the popular teams are sold out most matches.

Itā€™s not like here or so I understand. Youā€™d have to buy a club membership and enter a lottery for the relatively small general release. Itā€™s the only legitimate way. Or buy a hospitality package which is very expensive. Everything else is season ticket holders. Tickets on the secondary market are very expensive and you run the risk of being refused entry.

On top of that, EPL blackout rules prevent tv broadcasting, even if the match is sold out. So itā€™s see the match live or watch the replay.

Crazy.

Yeah probably won't be a US match because they're going to be more expensive and why go watch them lose lol. I would like to go to a France vs England or Brazil vs Germany, something worth my while and money.
I don't know where you are but I'll be looking at games in KC or Dallas first then see where teams will be and tickets available elsewhere if I have to. So remind me when it gets close and we'll see what we can make happen if ya want.

Man that would be awesome. Unfortunately Iā€™m in Virginia so I was looking Philly, NY, Boston or maybe Atlanta. But like you say, we'll see whatā€™s up when we get closer. Iā€™m with you for match selection, but even a group stage match between nobodies works for me. This is all price dependent of course, but Iā€™m excited about the idea of seeing it live.

I prefer to watch it in uhd/4k on my TV with my 1.00 beers vs 14.00+. And I can sit in my chair and burn one. Hopefully Salah (liverpool) stays!
I totally agree with ya šŸ‘. Only reason I will try to go is to say I've been, kinda a bucket list thing from when I was a kid and nope not dying anytime soon I don't think. Only gonna be in the States so many times in my lifetime though. But the smoking thing while watching in my chair is why I don't go to most sporting events. Better views, cheaper, clean bathroom and replay lol.
