I would just like to let everyone know that we will be scheduling some forum maintenance at some point in the evening hours. The current changes have been made in the prototype environment, and are currently being tested out. If everything comes out as clean as it currently seems to be, we will lock the forums down late one evening to get a current backup (which ran quite awhile last time, but needed in case things go sideways). This is to make sure that we retain all threads, and information to mitigate any data loss. Once we have the backups, the needed upgrades will be applied to our instance, providing both security and stability.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. If you are ever interested in being a prototype tester, just send me a pm. Once new updates are applied in prototype, I try to do anything I can to break it by trying as much functionality as possible.

Looks like tonight is the night! At 10:00pm EST the forums will be put into read-only mode. Once in read-only mode, the DB backups will be taken, this took about an hour last time. Once backups are completed, we will perform the necessary upgrades to the site. after upgrade, and post implementation review, read-only mode will be removed. This upgrade went rather smooth in the prototype environment, but if anyone see's any anomalies, please speak up !

Just an FYI all, in 28min I will be disabling the forums for the backup prior to upgrade.

So we are 3.5 hrs in still waiting for the backups to be completed. Don't really have an ETA trying to stick it out as long as we can before thinking about re-scheduling.

Maintenance will need to be rescheduled. Waited 4.5 hours to receive notification of a successful backup, and have yet to get that. Rather than take any chances, we made a decision to just open the boards, and find another time to execute the release plan.

This did not complete until 4:18 am! Holy Shite! 6h18m the backup took to execute. We will have to take that into account during the next execution.

So we are going to try kicking this off again tonight at 12am EST ( 9pm PST). The last backup took 6h18m, That means the site will be unavailable during the early AM hours (at least until 6:30am EST). As soon as I get up in the morning, I will perform the upgrade sequence, and re-enable the forums if everything looks clean. If not we will roll-back.
