Possibly; I don't have real data for this, but what I do know, is that it's REALLY unlikely that a pure Sativa in a Jungle somewhere, would see temps low enough for the anthocyanins to really do much. That's what I'm guessing at least. But Afghanistan has areas where the only precipitation, is snow fall. So it does get pretty cold there too. I will say that the Hawaiian Sunshine I had, was turning purple in the tent though.... But then again my tent is usually maximum 70 degrees or so, with an LED light, so, maybe ?
The orange tic tac is a small leaf incredibly bushy plant with hundreds of small bud sites without topping or scrogging. Very unique plant super frosty and pure orange funk. Bright green with purple and pink in cooler temps
I have personally grown many colored landrace sativas. A pure pink red Oaxacan( Mexico) a Pakistani sativa that is heavy pink and purple. Vietnamese silverleaf. A pink Watermelon tree hashplant from bodhi. Etc.

Bro I'd rather jump pecker first into a badger hole than be on a Beach. Hot Sun and a lot of people everywhere is NOT my idea of fun. Only time I'm on a beach is in Winter, when everyone else isn't there, and the Wife and I walked up and down the Beaches here, looking for beach glass and rocks for aquariums.

These days, sure. But before home computers were a thing, they were generally the ones in the machine room at whatever college they attended, sitting up all night with 15 pots of Coffee, some Jolt Cola, and a terminal in front of them, as everyone else was at home sleeping LOL
I used to think this, but now I'm not sure. Lately it seems I've had purples outperform greens of the same cross. That said I collected pollen from a green male and used it on a green female this summer. The rest of the pollen is in long term ambient temp storage test if anyone wants some, lmk.
I've read about this, and, best I can tell, is that the coloration forming, uses up energy the plant has, to turn those colors, and I guess theoretically, it would mean lower amount of Trichomes, but I'm personally not so sure. I've had Weed in a bunch of different colors, and Green VS coloration, didn't seem to mean much in my experience. Just having plants outside here, if they have the genetic ability to turn colors, they will, from the cold. The odd thing I think makes me wonder about this, is that, a plant will respond to cold temps in different ways, and one of those ways, is increased resin production, because it's like weather proofing for any seeds the plant will try to save due to the chilly temps. I'm not sure if I really believe that a purple or black plant, is somehow not as heavy as a green one.

Besides, we have more coastline here than .... Pretty much any other state. Cali only has one side of the state aimed at water, we're surrounded by it.
