Good to see you out there enjoying life Herk.

Working up the courage to try a brisket
I think Tri-Tip is much better. I’ve tried a bunch of brisket, in Texas at several local favorite spots where they give you a cafeteria tray lined w wax paper, walk into the pit area, pick your meats, then they weigh it out - no plates. I have not had one brisket that could beat a Tri-Tip. Sometimes I think Tri-Tip would be a better substitute for brisket in soups like Pho.

Check out our new fishing section:

Post pics of what you catch in Mims thread. Bonus points if you catch one of these:

My fishing boat has been a work in progress I've got 2 friends with similar boats we fish the nearby lakes for trout & bass I've converted my engine to electric start & in the process of dialing my prop in also swapping the factory 15 hp carbeuretor out for a 20 hp upgrade as the yamaha 15 & 20 are essentially the same engine added a lowrance fish finder that is simple to use also cannon downrigger next project is gonna be a bow mounted trolling motor the prop pitch is something I'm playing with factory pitch is 9-1/4×101/2 I've ordered 2 lower pitch props as the engine is not wanting to wind up I put a 9-1/4 × 9 on today also have a 9-1/4 x10 coming I really like the 4-stroke motor it's the first one I've owned always had 2 strokes the yamaha will run all day on 3 gallons of gas & let's me troll as slow as 1.6 mph & never loads up or fouls a spark plug
I love it! I need to rebuild the carb on my old Johnson 15, I have the kit but haven't gotten around to it yet. Still runs LOL I like the sounds of the 4 stroke. The only thing I love about my 2 stroke is the smell of the castor oil blendzall I run through it.

Def. take some pictures of your fishing adventures to share with us if ya want!

Me also, lol. Love brisket so much! I almost pulled the trigger at the store yesterday, but chickened out again 😝 such a big chunk of meat and long cooking time has been what's making me so hesitant... it's coming soon though!

if I had one of those new fangled pellet grills with the automated feeding? maybe..... but its a commitment to 14-16hrs of smoking and I'm lazy. Need a proper cooler to wrap it and rest in as well. Half chickens I can toss on the weber at 12pm and have em done by dinner time ;).

Oops! Didn't realize I already commented on that one😆

Ya, that would be ideal... Set n forget. I don't have that luxury. All I have is a cheap $30 Walmart grill, oven, or air fryer as my cooking options. So gotta get the gameplan together and down pat before my attempt. I may look into grabbing a smoker on some kind of payment plan here... That might work!

It has been hot so I have slowed on the fishing but managed to get a bow mounted trolling motor for my boat because of the prosthetic leg I opted for the hand controlled model havent tested it yet one of the lakes I fish has a lot of flooded timber I plan on fishing using the electric trolling motor added a second battery too changing out my prop for a different pitch to compensate for the added weight 20230711_101255.jpg 20230711_101154.jpg 20230711_101133.jpg

My latest favorite is from mchilhenny the good ol makers of common tabasco sauce but this one made using trinidad scorpion peppers I have grown both the scorpion & the tabasco pepper the scorpion considerable hotter this new hot sauce doesn't disappoint it has both flavor & heat View attachment 175850 View attachment 175851 View attachment 175852

I've grown Trinidad Scorpion Peppers, they're actually interesting.

This past week I've been going off on the Detroit Ghost Pepper sauce I found. Man I'm beyond impressed with it too! It has that razorblade dipped in acid feel on the tongue, which reminds me of the Bird's Eye Peppers from Africa!! I haven't experienced that since I had the Bird's Eye Pepper Sauce, and I love it!

I've grown out Ghost Peppers, Trinidad Scorpion, .... I'm missing one, but, I also grew out some Carolina Reapers Peppers.

I have been diggin their Chipotle sauce lately. I am gonna have to track down some of that scorpion sauce.

For real bro if you like a spicy sauce, there's some VERY good options these days :) If you like those Peppers, I highly recommend Ghost Pepper sauce too :)

Did you get that weird tongue cut feeling? That's the only way I could describe it lol.
Yeah almost like a paper cut some of the hotter habanero peppers will do that to me too I've never had a carolina reaper but it would probably do that too compared to scorpion & ghost jalapenos are mild I usually go for the happy medium smaller peppers like thai , birdseye & heirloom tabasco I didnt do a garden this year as our well went dry & at least 3 month wait to get new well due to large agricultural wells lowering the water table several residential wells drying up running house off large water tank & it gets filled by truck once a week so no garden this year

Thai Peppers are also high on my list :) Good producers too! Man hope your able to get a new well soon..... Or I could say "get well soon" but that seems to easy for a laugh LOL. But yeah we had to get a new well not too long ago; They drilled down over 150 feet or something trying to find a deeper one, but ended up having to do a shallow well here.
