anyone have experience with Gnome Genetics and Magic Strains ? just got 3 seed packs -- NONE of them germinated ?? anyone have no germination rates with these breeders
Moved your question to its own thread. Try to avoid asking questions about other breeders in a breeders personal thread unless it directly relates to their work. Dont want anyone thinking Photon is somehow associated with Gnome, Magic, or bad gern rates.

As to your actual question, I have not. But I was looking at both of those breeders just recently. What strains did you get and where did you buy them from?

I haven't noticed Autos germinating any differently than photos. No experience w/ Gnome, but did pop some Party Crasher that came direct from Magic w/o any issues whatsoever.

I'm pretty familiar with them, and no that's not common by any stretch. In fact, I personally respect, admire, and possibly imitate a bit, all of those guys. No offense intended here at all, as I truly only answer to help you out, but my only thoughts on a situation like this is either A, you had a bad germ technique (it happens, I'll be the first to admit after 25+ years of growing this plant, I'll be in a rush or whatever, not paying enough attention, and usually either drown them or dry them out too much at the wrong time) or B, you have some kind of situation where your seeds may have been subjected to an outside influence. Something like exposure to hot or cold on their voyage, leave them sitting on a wifi modem/router (wifi signals can do some wonky stuff to plants) any number of things. Though uncommon, can happen. I'm sorry to hear this experience has happened, but I assure you those are all very solid breeders. You could possibly reach out to the bank/s you purchased from, sometimes they'll help you out. I have a few packs still available if you'd like to try my gear out(shameless plug) I can give a little deal on them, but thats the best I can do. Bummer for sure, but again, 25+ years on this and I just did that to a handful of beans the other day haha. Just got distracted or something and that's all it takes. Ain't too proud to make mistakes here that's for sure haha. Not saying that's your situation, but be honest with yourself and make sure you truly assess the situation. Wish you the best my friend.

Yea ! thanks - the dam germination !!! like you mentioned it's probably my fault - just when you think you have it down (germination) shit happens !!! might contact the bank/breeder were they were purchased - Got the Magic Strain from D.C Seed Exchange - not going to ask for replacements (even tho I want to) know that generally poor germination rates is the cultivators fault but then again don't know old seeds are. Just glad I only got a 3 pack @Photon Pharms thanks for you response (how are your germination rates with your auto's ?

I have had some tough beans in my past. I soak my beans for 2-4 hours and then it's on to a warm area in paper towel and gauze mesh. If I don't get tails after the second day, I gently crack 'em open with small pliers, and then into the medium.

That trick has saved 50% of my problem beans! Good luck
some times I shake them in a small container w 120 grit for about 30 seconds . if you want a seed cracker 20Twenty Seeds has one you can get thru them or on Etsy

@Photon Pharms thanks for you response (how are your germination rates with your auto's ?
Ive run a half a dozen seeds from Photon recently and had 100% germ rate. A couple of the seeds were a little stubborn and took a little patience but every one made it. Been happy with everything I grew from him so far.

If you want to see some pics and reports its all in this mess of a journal Ive been keeping, along with the other autos ive been messing with

110% germ rates with all my gear! See, one out of ten will actually sprout two haha!! Nah, being serious though, I am very picky about seed quality going out. Mainly for this reason, understandably when folks get a new breeder and do not get a good rate, it leaves a bad taste for a good while. I'm a very very small op with little overhead, so that helps too. I would like to say 100% but honestly in a 3 pack you'll get at least 4 beans, and at the least 3 will pop, I do guarantee that as well. If not, hit me up and I will ALWAYS work with you.

Shit happens, who knows why.
A bad batch of soil can kill seedlings.
Maybe some damping off?

But there really are bad seeds that won't sprout, regardless of germination method.
It's rare, but it happens.

I won't mention any names - but I am definitely bitter... (n)

Very true, so many things/reasons can apply/happen. That's another reason why you should research your breeders, control what's available through your dollars. If you have an issue say, and reach out only to be shot down immediately or ghosted altogether, don't continue to support them. That's actually the main reason I started doing this publicly. I had spent quite a bit of money with an unnamed breeder (they have one I'm just not here for that so leaving it out haha) had some issues and to this day I have never gotten so much as a "fuck off kid" or anything! With the obscene amount of newer growers out there these days, it occurred to me that at this rate, we were scheduled to self destruct our own community faster than acquiring a Southern New Hampshire bachelors degree! That's pretty fast haha. So I decided that I would use that as both motivation and a mantra for this project. Really try my best to my friends (customers) at the top. I remember growing weed, way out in the middle of the woods, could not even tell a friend about any of it, let alone ask any questions on things haha. That wasn't the most fun way to live, and I don't want to go back to it. Without a community though, that's exactly where I'd be. So I do try to support those that support me, with all the time and energy I can. If I can ever be of any help, to anyone reading this. Photo sensitive, auto, tomatoes, potatoes, hams or yams, hit me up. I will always try my best for you.

I remember buying a 10 pack back in 2018 of bum wine auto and I had germination issues, if I remember correctly only had 2 germ successfully. Sorry for the late response, been incognito for a good minute.
