Living super soil

I've cut my grow medium costs by 75% by making my own super soil. Dry amendments are way cheaper than premix nutes. The only soil I buy now is just for clones and seedlings as the super soil is too hot for starts. I feel that I have much more control of the whole grow this way!

even if ph is out of whack, too much organic ferts and misc stresses, your plants will majority have way more advantage than if u had a sterile room/medium and synthetics ( no buffer and so many factors to fuck up) . The communication of bacteria/fungi and plant but also they work so perfectly. It’s no wonder in nature plants def can thrive , if not better than being served by humans.

organics has so much advanced for a person who is going to grow in same medium or same place multiple times. The medium not only becomes alive but better the older it is. i used to soil test my mediums outdoors but lasted two years = I didn’t cause I noticed the factor of living vs synthetics mindset where I would need to adjust based on such. End result both two years were better than last 10+ in same medium ( only factor diff was I went with organic feed chat of company and didn’t add any more or less what soil test showed)

key with peat moss ( coco I just adjust water always to 5.8-6.5) is you need to realize with things or know ur applications what it raises or lowers the ph , it’s not natural soil ( like bacteria’s). also many will be blind their water is contaminated and no wonder when ur biggest Allie and factor to make organics better is being denied or destroyed by bad water or chemicals like in city or chlorine . people need to realize many species take weeks to be a true colony and if your destroying that by giving it water that kills everything or using products that do that. than I woild never suggest doing organics and super soils Obviously. its just a big factor I think these cannabis focused brands should tell people if using organics and bacteria/fungi , water and not chemicals that kill and are the enemy to that way of growing has to be fixed before choose organics.

i could go on and on why if your not growing acres, organics and living soil will always be ur champ and choice over getting rid of mediums, obvious over nute giving but also no gain over synthetics for speciality growing/medicine and home growing ( I use organics living soil metjod for veggies too)

Time to empty and refill half of the composter with recharged living soil. The composter never rests! Always have fresh super soil but I use it up as fast as I make it.
When it warms up I want to make myself a mechanical composter from 55 gallon drums and a electric motor. I'm certain I could sell this stuff for a good price if I could scale up production.

Later today I'll sieve it with a 1/2" garden sieve. Just enough to break up any bigger pieces. I try to keep an extra 20 gallons of soil in reserve and it still disappears too quickly!

Man I'm workin on a drum mixer as well I'm about to reamend like a yard and a half of soil ??? I'm on my second go with organic soil and this run went much better than the last had to up to 8 gals 5 isn enough unless you flip super early, bud structure is definitely different vs synthetics

The best is yet to come! Every time you recharge your super soil gets a little better. The gift that keeps on giving!

You have compost tea?

You have compost tea?
make your teas with the compost right before use.. otherwise you’ll lose a lot of the benefits from stagnation.

I would recommend doing an extract as opposed to a brewed tea. It’s much easier and if you start with a high quality compost you can achieve great results.

If @Rozgreenburn doesnt have any available I personally use and recommend SD microbes biovast vermicompost. You can buy it in 1 gallon bags. I use about 2 cups for 5 gallons of water.

I no longer make teas. I make an organic liquid nutrient booster. I put banana peels, most of my sun leaves, some soft compost, yeast, fresh cow pies and urine into a 50 gallon plastic drum, add enough rainwater to get it 1/2 full. I stir it weekly and replace the bungs as soon as I finish stirring. at the start the water only cover the mix by a few inches but, the solids break down as time passes and it will be 80% broken down come September. I will stir the hell out of it and then I strain out the solids and bucket or bottle up the nutrient rich juice.
I grow full organic and so this makes a nice boost to my watering program. I drop 1 - 2 ounces of this stinky joy juice to a gallon of water and apply twice weekly. If a particular strain seems hungrier, I'll double the boost juice for the issue. It's another easy way to stay on the organic train!

And, of course, the solids that are left after the straining goes into my next batch of super soil I make from scratch.
I won't buy any new soil until next year! I recharge my old soil after it sits idle for 6 months. I may not need to buy soil next year too! The only way I'll not recharge old soil is if I've had problems or bugs.

Just a little more info. I keep the 50-gallon unit mentioned above, in full sun. I start it in April and finish it in September. I made 15 gallons of that organic Nute booster last September, and I still have 10 left. The batch I'm brewing now should make 20 gallons, so I won't need to make any next year.
I will be making another gallon of @Schwaggy P's Terp Enhancinator. I use 1 ounce in a gallon for a once weekly flavor bump. Works well for me, and compared to 'Terpinator', it cost nearly nothing!
Tomorrow, I need to mix organic amendments into 3, 18-gallon batches of super soil. I mix it in a garden trailer that's 3' x 4' with 12" sides. Park it under a big maple and get to workin' it up!
