Molasses question

Ive used unsulfered blackstrap molasses for years in my grows. But..Ive never used it in a large container where it took a few days to empty it by feeding. This morning I opened the lid and it smelled like I was brewing hard apple cider. Is there a chance Im fermenting somehow with my nutrients and making alcohol? It's very bubbly too. Weird. I'm trying to grow sober skunks..not drunk skunks.

I've used blackstrap for 40+ years, as an amendment, as a compost tea food and as a liquid suppliment.
It probaly would be a no for reservoir type environments though, especially if temp of the water is above 60*
I use it more for plant health than a nutrient.

Me too...I had some left over in a 3 gallon jug that sat for a couple days...and wheweee. It got thrown out.

One tsp per gallon of warm not hot! Water. Ass 2 tbs of Epsom salts to same mixture and put a couple capfuls of this solution to your reg feeding. As stated. Not in a reservoir setting. I like the dried molasses myself

NO...use it the day you mix it!

I always have. I bought new 3 gallon jugs and didnt use all of the nutrient water so it sat for a couple days in the jug. I normally only do 1 galloners as I need.

My dumbass fault for not just adding it to my 1 gallon jug as I used it and not the holding container.. This phenohunt thing Im adjusting to.

We all do things differently.
I use 1 tbs per gal of water. I make sure I have "Blackstrap" first off, there 20 differant mollases'.
I use it as a nutrient (think yeast) for my guano teas.
It is excellant to build healthy cell walls in the plants, its carbs!

Definitely Blackstrap. It's the one thing I doubt Ill ever change.

The dried molasses stronger you make it to blackstrap strength or you can adjust I if needed.

I keep a constant tea, 24/7 365 in a bucket. A few weeks before I plant in spring I add new horse manure and compost that is full of mycorrhizal fungus, a Tbl of blackstrap and 2 heaping tablespoons of bran for the fungus to colonize. I don't grow much in soil these days except some tomatoes and a few other veggies but back when I grew everything in soil it was exceptional at helping the plants settle in and grow. Nothing like a good tea.

A food grade bucket 3-5 gal, chlorine/chloramine and heavy metal neutralizer if using tap water or use r.o or bottled water. The pH isn't too critical, I use my tap 7.0 300ppm hardness. You want to avoid extremes. An air pump and defuser/air stone to keep the water moving and oxygenating. In 4 years I've never cleaned out the bucket. Easy once set up and running. You can charge it up during the summer just give it a few days before using.

And don't ever ever ever be embarrassed because you haven't tried something in this hobby. I'll never get to try all I want and never even close to all there is. Go look at some general gardening sites. OMG. I'd love just to try more hydro systems.

I used to be big into tomatoes. Won best looking, tasting and set piece one year at a tomatofest. I brewed alfalfa tea and used 4" PVC pipe as a tea injector through my soaker hoses. You have to use the pressure rated PVC. One best tasting with a green when ripe tomato from Australia. Blindfolded tasting for the judges so they couldn't be biased towards pink, red..etc. They couldn't believe it was a green when ripe tomato when they saw it after voting for it.
