These are the same ones that you guys are using?,,, but less French on the packaging, eh?
"Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis, 10%"

What would be the best way to evenly deploy this over 15 square feet of bed?
I was thinking about tossing a puck into a bucket of fresh water. Drawing water off the bucket everyday in order to fill a spray bottle.
With a 10 unit bucket, and a 2 unit sprayer, I could empty the contents of the pail over 5 days.
Alternatively, I could crush it, but I don't know how to evenly distribute the slurry.
If it gets fine enough to siphon through half inch tubing, I could apply the entire confection in one shot.

Propaganda states that a quarter dunk will dose three square meters of water, for thirty days. The entire surface area of my media is probably closer to Three square miles.
Looking to control fungus gnats.
How much of this product do I need?

Keep in mind those 'bits" are much weaker sauce than the dunks.

The dunks...throw them into a bag and hammer them to bits. I can't speak to water growing but in dirt you are better off to bury the smashed dunks down an inch or two in the soil. There is a LARGE difference in viability time when buried versus sprinkled on the top.

I noticed this the hard way

Thanks folks! I will give that a go.

Botaniguard reduced numbers but never won the war.
Mostly a nuisance to find them in buds, also staring to wonder if they could be unwitting pollinators.

Use in combination with this, and some sticky fly traps.

Can drench soil, or after watering use a mix in a sprayer and spray the top of the soil well and maybe around the outside/bottom of the bed. Will last alot longer spraying vs drench.
like many expensive drench based tea’s or IPM I just with liquid bti to predrench , like many expensive tea’s or IPM tools used as drench to save a lot of money I suggest to “pre drench” your water only/regular feed to medium ( bs IPM only) so there’s no dry spots and drench it to 75-90% before u have runoff/just starting to run off. Than apply ur expansive BTI/tea and results is better saturation and 50%+ less you have to use for same result. stuff def counts and adds up to making a tool too costly or useful?

the issue is people want to start BTI or killing FG when they see fliers but it takes along Time to adult stage and BTI doesn’t kill adults so trying to do that ur allowing a whole cycle that flies to reinfect , just saying

Many companies sell BTI but one big thing is % like any species on concentration and expire shelf/when it expires. I used to use the bits, the con of the bits is they half half the shelf life I u woild think liquid woild be less?) vs microbelife bmc. I apply it at .5ml-1ml per gallon every 3-14 days . Key is to apply from start and don’t let adults be ur spread . The con of FG for farmers is the larvae egg the root hairs and they spread virus/disease . the gallon version is def cheaper but for smaller grows maybe all you will need is a bottle of small one? do math easy peezy and liquid def is cheaper ( I used to have to buy 5 gal buckets of BTI bits and def costed more )

key is to also have good airflow over ur medium to deter adults from being able to lay eggs as easy but also gives that first few inches of ur medium air to dry out and that also helps deter the FG. Another thing is having yellow sticky traps on ur plants near the medium and to watch them. If u see more than 10 in a week on a trap it’s obvious the FG is getting to adult stage and ur not keeping ur pressure down so result I would suggest investing in a sop to control them, use rove beetles and if u can afford also some h mile predators also, they will chow down ur FG and many organic material and other medium based pest. since shipping cost a lot for predators I also get nematodes and that like BTI kills the babies but def faster and ive always seen nematodes def wipe em out f using rove even if I had a bad infection . the companies will tell ya to reapply every 2 weeks and start from go but the cost would be insane, I’ve tested by preventively applying indoors and out applying BTI who,e cycle but applying the FG nematodes (nemesis 50million at 25-40 gallon water) drench with roves and (2-5 x every sqft of grow) and h miles and your issues with FG are gone Inless ur overwatering . never have I when I apply it at flower see any more adults ever on traps even in late flower so it’s preety obvious even outdoors it works.

I think they can definitely move from one space or tent to another and carry pollen, imho. I've had stray seeds here and there with no herm signs.

Thanks, Hazey dude, I always appreciate your input.
MircobeLift nor Evergreen ship up North.
I only grow in the dead of winter, so I am always apprehensive about ordering livestock. I can pay for top tier shipping, but anything from Ontario is going to be 5 days, no matter how much I pay.
It is pretty slim pickings up here, if I see something that I can actually put my hands on, I try to pounce right away.
This is the only other BT product I have seen with my own eyes, they carry it at some Hardware stores,, in the spring.

  1. Active Ingredient: Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki, strain ABTS-51
  1. Makes 33.3L
Might pick up some of that in the spring, for the outdoor. I get rollers, borers, and tent caterpillars in my yard. Don't know if it will address anything indoors, but a little squirt couldn't hurt.

Yeah, that.
The best time to plant a tree, is 20 years ago.
The second best time, is today.

I got 2 pucks for $12. Six packs are $25
Going to have to find my glasses, try to find a manufacture date on that package.

I am always jealous, at the range of products that are available down in the States.
Imagine those poor border patrol employees, trying to figure out what that white powder is, that I got caught with sneaking under the fence.
They could test it, 1 gram at a time, and they would empty that one pound bag before they ever figured out that it was Venerate

BTk is for control of caterpillars and similiar family ( effective too ) just not for FG or mosquito control . BTI WILL

I googled and looked for a Canadian seller, well that brand only sells in usa and is USA made. Prolly major label cost and headache

says in label “ See label for Dosages. Not for sale in NY, RI, TX or Canada. E.P.A “

I’ll look for another product that has BTI , can u get nematodes and roves/h miles, I’m sure Canada has predator sellers/biocontrol exp being so pro anti tradional pesticides

I recalled that also, after watching the video of Harley you shared earlier @BH. BTk impacts all of the winged insects in the order Lepidoptera.
Was nice to watch those videos, a good refresh of knowledge , and was cool to learn something also.

I'll tell ya right now, I stopped using the dunks entirely and used BT(k) for years now. True it's for caterpillars and worms but it also wipes out the larval stage. Without that larval stage the problem is gone in less than 2 weeks. The larvae are all in the soil, that's where they eat. After a few waterings, the problem stops.

can u get nematodes and roves/h miles

I would need to read up A LOT before I invested in live.
My initial investigations were to combat 2Spot mites. None of those predators thrive in my ultra-low humidity.

Do nematodes reproduce?
Many of those Koppert products need to be replenished constantly. I just dont have the budget for that.
,,, not that I have the budget to lose a crop either.
Hold a gun to my head, and I have to buy it. Luckily, not much available to me.

2spots are my Nemesis.
Flower power Formula420 and other perm/pyrethins are the only readily available treatments, and they seem to knock my plants back just as hard as the mites do.
Basically it is only sulphur or pyerethins, neither entirely effective- and they dont play well together.

Off topic, but oh well.
