Root Aphids

Hey pheno fam it would appear I was gifted some root aphids via babysitting a clone for a friend while he gets his spot up and running, I usually deal with springtails and a few fungus gnats, but these guys aren't jumping just steadily crawling about on and through my coco. The webs are pointing to triazicide and the imidacloprid to wipe em out this was a 150$ 10 pack and id rather not chop, worst case ill lose em but gain all the knowledge of fighting them and seeing exactly what their stages and detriment to the plant are, or I may win lol I've got on hand mammoth canna control, fertilome triple action(neem 70% and .5% pyrethrin ), dr zymes(did nothing at 2ozs per gallon) green cleaner, and diatomaceous earth(can go butt chugging aka bottom watering) today they are gonna get a heavy nematode treatment and I have 100 rove beetles en route.
If anyone that has fought these bastards and won id love your input, as im relying heavily in Google and my literature, thanks guys and gals and ill be back with progress reports as I've got 4 still in solos and can experiment fairly easy once I get an idea of whats really needed

PFR-97+grandevo+botaniguard 22 wp mixed together.key is 100% saturation and have this defense 100% in the medium for 3o minutes-1hr.

Step 1. have a pot tray under each pot , step 2. pre water/feed ur pots till right before run off point . This saves you 75% of need for over use of your biocontrol, if you didnt do that previous step doing this daily ad a ipm and large scale would be very costly, best tip is very that and not having to hold a pot for 30minutes min in a bucket for that effect ( I’ve seen many as their instructions and that would suck even with 1 pot)

3. than feed in the biocontrol (pfr-97 + grandevo + botaniguard 22 wp) till 5-10% run off, let this run off sit for at least 3o min-1hr ( this guratees full saturation ) In order to kill the colony = do this every 7 days and make sure it’s a fully saturated and 30 min-1hr soak. RA don’t fuck around

If pest shows any colony rotate with knockout+biocontrol ( same method aka 30 min-1hr fully saturated soak )

meaning all biocontrol , than 7 days knockout (evergreen) + biocontrols mixed (pfr,Grandevo , botaniguard )

if your pest colony goes away, only use biocontrols and even use just 1 than to save cash. But if pest are still present keep all products going but also assume they are hiding too. RA are a bitch that way.

evergreen 5.0, amazing and very powerful and great cost for how concentrated it is ! drench this for root aphids with the listed biocontrols and that will add a % of knockout

You may ask why shouldn’t I just add knockout by itself or just that ? wish the answer was one easy answer and product to end all, but that’s not the case and won’t ever be. Key is not using dangerous and stuff that is obviously pro motive of allowing pest to gain that resistant gain.
like many tradional and many defenses , they have flaws of pest becoming resistance gain but also promoting breeding of “super pest”, which is another reason why if you trade clones know the growers IPM and defenses if you can .

you also may question why spend all this cash? Even if small crop RA untreated can and has been proven to hurt your yields by 30%+ and also makes your next round just as bad and very good chance exp in a lot of regions like many pests. You prolly gonnea have it again and the key like many pest is to have a IPM viewpoint of these issues will be there and if you can have it controlled. Those products will save you that and than some. for me , IPM is something Im willing to invest vs some fancy bottled nutes exp for pest issues I know that can’t be avoided .

amazing biocontrol but if you are cost limited or home grower, skip pfr and buy rest and yo8 should be able to defend and have a good crop. this is omly product also that has to be in the fridge for good shelf life

some basic info, some is useful . Some doesn’t work for modern day RA effectively

BH got my bug problem solved quickly! Seems like when we accept clones from others or allow other growers into our rooms bad things happen. Not to hijack the thread but what are some tried, true options for quarantining clones from others?

1.
Look under/ontop with a scope (60-100x+) of leafs before taking clones or having in ur tester/quarantining room. if already infected on mother plants for cuttings = spray em/drench and do a ipm 3-5 times than take the clones after showing decrease or no more pest on em, by than the pest issues should be down or not a issue anymore. key is to check under scope before cutting and even so if u know u have regional pest issues, dip em in something safe to young plants like biocontrol and if any pest eggs come up during clone schedule = poisoned

biggest advice is its not worth bringing infected plants (need to be clean) , get em safe or at least have this plan aka IPM cause so many pest once u see a obvious colony = ur fucked and way harder than a normal ipm and they (pest) have no interest and see ur defenses as hell

2.
Try to recieve/take in least medium so you can u can “dip” the clone “100%” and that makes it so theres no hiding zone ( like Rockwool or root riots) . I suggest having in em rockwool and keep em in that small medium for 7-14 days so u can repeat the “dip” np

3. If you can have a 100% offsite grow room even if its temporary just for these quarantine process . That will gurtee if shit is there , its there and not all over ur precious grow room to battle.

4. if pest presented found, follow what IPm is needed for the pest and days per hatch/population's work for that species/pest. if you can't id ur pest to exact you might even email a pest ipm company, they love to do pest id so they sell their products correctly.

do u mean root aphids like thread or are u mentioning all pest IPM? can't randomly give a ipm for everything cause even the egg hatching and what things conquer like a example will try two spot mite IPM on russets/broad.. and that mindset and ipm would make the broad/ruseets love ya lol

So had a major breakthrough with the bugs finally got some video and decent pictures of the ones I've got now, Ive had springtails for a long time now and they looked just like this
Screenshot_20220128-162614_Chrome.jpg
I thought I had these
Screenshot_20220128-162449_Chrome.jpg
But after extreme scrutiny it turns out I just have a different kind of springtail now they are white and without the scope look just like the dam aphids I've seen on the internet
Screenshot_20220128-162351_Chrome.jpg Screenshot_20220128-162327_Chrome.jpg

And the footage of whats actually in my pots
Screenshot_20220126-185757_Video Player.jpg best i can do atm lol
I'm positive they are springtails cuz when I attempted to capture some they jumped and were gone lol definitely not flight just that random blasting that springtails are known for

Really wanna thank all the peeps that dropped some knowledge bombs on me im ordering the shit to deal with it if it does occur, this was fucking scary ? ? ? ? ? ?
