STEM SPLINT ?

Broke a Cola Stem earlier while not paying attention and wanted to use something more breathable than tape, gauze etcetera...
With a length of straw as a splint and 1 of my girlfriends hair clips I think I have a new piece of gear..
The hair clip has a great spring so this combo is actually super solid.. ?

I know tape works fine but I figured this would be that much better..

I've used tin tape before, works wonderfully, nice and rigid to hold it. No wrapping, just a sandwiche, and fold over the edges for support bends.

I always use painters tape to fix a snapped stem...works great for me too.

I try not to use anything with adhesives. So what i use mostly is teflon tape and a popsicle stick if needed but usually just the teflon.

Great simple fix!! I've gotten to where if it happens I just repair it and don't worry about it. Some of my most "prized" tops have grown from broken branches.
