How is everyone? A good friend told me about this site, and said I should check it out. I have been growing since the late 70s, but I'm kinda new to forums. Tried riu, but it was full of kids that didn't know a tenth of what they thought they did. So I am trying to find a place that I can fit in a little better. I'm growing in dwc, under led and CMH. Just switched to the led, Samsung 301h boards, so far they seem like a good light, but I'm going to be going back to the CMH for winter months. I would appreciate any information on growing under the LED lights anyone might have.

Welcome my friend! I'm rocking the LED and CMH combo myself and love it ... LED seems to bring out a lot of frost as well as different color expressions, which is always fun

I came here from RIU as well and ya.... you'll like it here a lot more haha

Welcome to pH @Primobozo

As for LED advice Id anticipate a bump in your normal Cal/Mag feed when grown under this kind of light. Other than that and a little more color on fade, my electric bill going down drastically was the only big difference I've experienced in going from HPS to COB LED's.

Greetings @Primobozo, welcome to pH.

I just started researching LED info. So if the experts disagree with my understanding please feel free to correct me.

From what I understand the potential need for more Ca and Mg, both are moved very slowly throughout the plant, comes from poor transpiration. So LED grows generally need higher ambient temperatures (80F-85F) and higher humidity (when possible) because there's no infrared to heat up leaf surfaces and induce transpiration as is the case in HPS/CMH grows.

I too learned lots from those videos that @jaguarlax mentioned.

I have a little experience with DWC. But I'm primarily a soil enthusiast.

Enjoy the experience, it's a good one.

I've already noticed the lower power bill. I'm thinking about using the LED lights in the warmer months and then going back to the CMH for winter. First grow under the LED and so far I'm happy with them.
