100 Days of Growth

Looks like we're crossing the 100 day finish line. Thanks a bunch @DopeDaniel for putting this all together. Definitely helped keep me engaged this summer.

Not gonna dump too many pics, but have to at least post the 1st BlackBerry Fluff photo from April 3rd:

Probably the next significant event was the first pinch around April 22. Definitely helped establish the structure going forward.
1000000930.jpg

Transplant and relocation day on May 11 was another mile marker. Not that long ago. Man, it looks wimpy! 😂
1000000964.jpg

And here we are today. Honestly, the BlackBerry Fluff has been a breeze to grow. Pretty much just 'set it and forget it'. Intending to keep updating on this thread if it stays open. Really looking forward to seeing how the flower goes.

Always good to have you around, Unc.

I hope that fluffer treats you well.
She gave me a whole bucket full; I have been working on it since Christmas.
Potent stuff, and nary whiff of sweetness.
Not a full-on dumpster fire- but there is a pleasant amount of nasty in there.

Ice lotuse sprouted looking a little wonky but should sort itself out

The mother trio smallest is a nana glue that is clinging on to life having survived as a clip through the mail and then a botched transplant.
Middle is the purple trop cherry punch
And lastly the grandmas home that people seem to like a lot.

The vegauto tent is coming together for this next run.

Sitting here adoring how Tangie walks over any cross.

Started with Genesis
20250708_002938~2.jpg
Solid like cauliflower
20250708_002819~2.jpg

Rafter Stock is Genesis × Tangie'magic
Taller , less bulbous
20250706_110713~2.jpg

Oh-Oh is PurpleTangie auto ( Red Mandarin f1 fast) × RafterStock
20250708_002909~2.jpg
Puts it right back in familiar territory- wizard hats and Spears
20250708_002805_HDR~2.jpg

Perhaps less desirable than the first Oh-Oh.
Although smaller overall, the first one finished hella fast and gave denser bud.
Unfortunately, while drying, she is putting off some dark, Goo-Gone, Citrus oil smells.
I know that Oh-Oh can give some effervescent orange Fanta flav.
Hopefully, conehead #2 can give me some of that soda I am looking for.

I'll get the voting thread up later today if not tomorrow.

Watered the barley and volunteers last night and got the upper plot this morning after a few days away.

I need to do some staking and pruning. I'm concerned the Afgann90 are too large already, might hack them back. Also thinking about topping the Gorilla Bubble.

So that is what the Afghan90 looks like!
Dang, got to give them a rebel yell, of HELL YEAH!!
I'll popping some these soon!
Damn fine garden, love it!!

Oh Yeah, NLD's!! I love that set up!!

I keep a roll of that very pliable wire around myself, for all kinds of use's.
In my old life, building newspaper/commercial presses and related equipment.
After building a gear box, then testing it, I'd remove each bold, to add a safety wire, by drilling a hole through the head of it, then run the safety wire, through the head, with twist wire pliers, it tight, then go through the next one.
So simply wiring them together so the bolts can not back out

I went on a variety of spectacular mechanical failures, (always human influenced) in my 20 years of printing press service calls..

100 days are over, but hopefully I can stay motivated to document the remainder of the season.

Definitely had a few hot days last week, but rain is on the way...

BlackBerry Fluff is holding up fine.
Did experience some lower leaf burning.
Didn't think it was possible, but I'm attributing it to some diluted liquid silica added to the soil. It's the only thing different that took place. Was hoping to fortify things against the heat. In past years, I've applied as a foliar, but was lazy this time...😂

The golden pomegranates are all set on. Have had real good luck keeping them from splitting the past few years. Out here, it seems deep waterings are a no-no. Just daily super light watering does best.

Here's a fun one for you.
Can you spot the mantis on these dried yucca leaves?
1000001077.jpg

Here's a better look

Will try to get back to updating regularly.
Fell off the horse, dealing with minor monsoon issues.

Limbs on my Desert Willow in the front yard started to split, putting both my neighbors and my car in jeopardy, as well as the roof tiles.
1000001092.jpg

Trying to debulk the tree, not sure if I'm just going to take it out yet.

Here's a screenshot from a video of my neighbor getting arrested that shows how horizontal things started getting. That big limb on the right is this week's project. Just using a silky saw and loppers atm.
1000001126.png

On a positive note, pest pressure still is at a minimum! Seems the mantis population is definitely making a difference.
Had a little buddy hitch a ride on the garden hose a few days back.
