3rd grow...CLONES!!!

Also when and if you get a ec/ppm pen we can go over base perimeter guide lines for veg growth and flower .

So fill your jugs with hot tap water add jacks, shake vigoursly, allow to sit at least 4 hrs or overnight, to gas off chlorine, then add cal mag, shake, test and adjust pH last. Ph for your set up should be 5.8 to 6.2, and no need to let sit after cal mag addition before testing ph. Fyi a ppm meter is also a critical instrument for salts, ph meters are expensive for good ones, don't know what ya bought but if it's a cheap 10 dollar one it won't last or be accurate. Apera ph 20 and ec 20 are great moderate prices pens that last and last. They are about 60 each.
That's great info. Never thought to use hot tap water, but it makes sense that the temp would help chlorine gas off. Everything I've read says to add calmag first, mix it in well, then add Jacks. Does using the hot tap water and immediately adding the Jack's change that?

What's great about this (for me) hobby, is that I'm finding out how much I DON'T know!

Yeah, the pen I got is a $10 cheapie, cuz I was told that as long I was using Jack's/Tapwater I really didn't have to worry about Ph.

Yeah add you cal mag last , it won't precipitate out, this allows you to mix your jacks with hot water and the min 4 hr sit time or overnight allows the cholrine to gas off and the phosphorus in the jacks to stabilize. It's calcium and phosphorus that are chemically incompatible without separation and mixing sequences. That's why you have part a and part b solutions. One parts do exist, like mega crop 1 part but leave sediment and unavailable nutrient behind, not that that's a issue with hand watering. I think megacrop 1 part is a excellent fertilizer for simplicity and cost, it just has a little bit much nitrogen for late flower for my taste. Megacrop 1 part is excellent for beginners, and no need for any additives, it has lots of calcium magnesium and humic fulvic acids, sugars, molasses, b1 vitamins etc, built right in. It's very inexpensive also in cost per gallon. If you don't want to use hot water you can absolutely add cal mag then jacks. I just suggested hot water to aid in the jacks mixing solubility and efficacy, not to mention a quicker gas off if you don't have overnight.

Tried the hot water/Jack's thing. Worked great! Here they are this evening...day 18

Clearly the MAC is more bushy than the ZG. You think I should defoliate more, or let it veg out a little more first?

Deff let her veg more for now homie. Im one of the most guilty people when it comes to taking to many leafs to early so I feel your pain on wanting to make it pretty lol and for the salt vs organic convo I wanna chime in a little. Im a newish grower only like 5 years of experience so far and ive tried both. I personally think from my experience organically grown flower is the best but its harder to dial in. I like using coco/perlite and salts because if I fuck something up I can just flush and reset. Im still messing around with what recipie works best for my grow style but once I started doing a less is more approach ive been having much better results. At first I was like ok I have a ec/ph pen now I can push the nutes higher yada yada but I ran into more issues. Said f it went to half strength nutes from off the bottle and everythings been smooth sailing since.

Day 11 from flip. MAC is looking like it's finally starting to do something. ZG? Fucking Animal. After every attempt at training this bitch is like "You talkin' to ME???". I love it. I think after this grow is done, I'm going to stick to two plants of the same genetics at the same time...lol.

Oh, and @Chefdave , your water/feeding advice has been SPOT-ON! Now, granted, this is only my thrid indoor grow and they've all been different genetics, BUT since doing the hot water Jack's mix in with the calmag added right before feeding, I've had NO issues with leaf tips or anything like I've had with my other grows! Thanks so much!!!
