Anti depression tips and techniques

I haven't gotten to Bangkok, besides the airport, nor Pattaya. Both trips we stayed in Ubon Ratchathani where my wife's family is from. We did road trips almost everyday for 3 weeks, saw a good portion of the eastern part of the country. Went to so many stunning temples. The 1st time I smoked there, it was the highest I've been in my life. Laying in bed, my heart was pounding out of my chest, I had CEVs of the Buddha, and OEVs of geckos scurrying across the ceiling! Paranoia set in hard, I thought the police were coming for me, it was nuts, good times 😂
Glad to hear you had a great experience over there.

Most of my smoking was done just walking, honestly. I'd hit a store and have them roll two or three and take a walk around wherever I was that day and blaze. Then get the munchies. Then walk by a street food place and grab a skewer or a ball or a fried chicken. Then get ramen or pork blood soup or tom kha. Then get a "foot" massage.

Turns out a trip to Thailand and Hong Kong is a pretty fucking good antidepressant.

I got to see Moo Deng.

Bro I love that chunky mess! LOL.

Damn, I LOVE Thailand.... Not only do they have some of the best food ever, they spice it right too. Not to mention the sheer number of Catfish species they have that are capable of grabbing even my big ass. They have Goonch, and they have a world record for largest verified / weighed freshwater fish ever caught; 646 pounds for a Catfish. They also have giant freshwater Sting rays.

I'd be dead though..... We both know I'd be dying of heat exhaustion in a Jungle, and see a big cat and try to pet it LOL.

She was so cute! Ramming her mom and doing a barrel roll were the highlights while I was there.

Honestly it's not much different than Southern MI, except there's more wind and fewer mosquitoes in Thailand. It's hot in Thailand, but it doesn't get much over 90, let alone the triple digit days that tend to happen in August there. The big difference is UV rays are much more intense there, so time in the sun needs to account for that or real sunburns happen.

But yeah, you'd love the fishing and food. The scenery is gorgeous. The people are lovely. There's durian and weed everywhere. Going back next year 100%.

Koh Phangan did wonders for me, legit. A week there felt like someone hit the reset button on my brain. When I got back to the States I started working with Legacy Healing Center in Fort Lauderdale for therapy and some mindfulness work. It’s funny, a good therapist and a beach in Thailand have the same effect, you start breathing properly again.

Oh man that would be so cool to see. I think my main issue would be wanting to pet her LOL. Not the only thing, or most dangerous thing that I'd want to pet in that country though.

Yeah I've made friends with people from Thailand before, mostly from the restaurant business because of my love of their style of food. They consider heat a basic flavor, and on average, they have the spiciest cuisine on the planet. I love that personally haha.

Yeah that's another thing I'd like to see; an actual Durian Fruit for me to sniff LOL. The Mekong river holds a special place in my heart too; the largest Freshwater fish ever caught, was pulled there. A 646 pound Catfish :) I'd likely get yanked in but it'd be easier than trying to pet a Tiger like an idiot.

Apparently the secret is out about Thailand....I got a couple of friends from here in the states that have moved over there, we stayed in touch for a while but as happens, they have completely vanished into Asia. I haven't been but they said the exact things I'm reading here. I have another friend who lives up in the northeastern US who met his wife when he was in Vietnam. He has been trying to get me to go to SE Asia for years....it's gonna be a big regret I can already tell that I didn't make it.

"If only I knew back then what I know now"

The classic old man sentiment.

@Psychobilly , you can pet a tiger there, too. Apparently they sedate them enough where you can lay down next to them. Not for me, but I've seen some pics from friends and family that have done it.

I figured I would share a few things that I try to do personally. Both with, and without cannabis, some are pretty cliche, but i found sense in all of them at some point.

These are widely used approaches that help many people feel more grounded and supported.

Gentle structure

  • Create small, doable tasks
  • Celebrate tiny wins
  • Keep routines flexible, not rigid

Movement that feels good

  • Short walks
  • Stretching
  • Light exercise. Movement can shift mood by changing your environment and physiology.

Connection

  • Talk to someone you trust
  • Spend time with people who make you feel safe
  • Even brief social contact can help reduce emotional heaviness
  • Spending time with pets, and animals

Mindfulness + Grounding + Meditation

  • Slow breathing
  • Paying attention to sensations (feet on the floor, sounds in the room)
  • Journaling thoughts without judging them

Creative outlets

  • Music
  • Art
  • Gardening
  • Writing and creative expression can help release emotional pressure.

Some people find cannabis enhances relaxation or creativity, but it affects everyone differently. These ideas focus on intentional, low‑pressure use, not as a replacement for professional care.

Pair cannabis with calming activities

  • Listening to music
  • Light stretching
  • Gentle creative work. This can help shift attention away from rumination.

Use it to enhance sensory grounding

  • Notice textures, sounds, colors
  • Pay attention to breathing. This can help bring you into the present moment.

Keep doses low and intentional

Lower amounts tend to support calmness and clarity for many people. Higher amounts can sometimes increase anxiety or racing thoughts.

Combine with nature

  • Sitting outside
  • Tending plants
  • Watching the sky. Nature + cannabis can create a soothing, reflective space.

Use it socially (with supportive people)

Being around trusted friends can help reduce feelings of isolation.

If someone is feeling persistently low, hopeless, or overwhelmed, it’s important to reach out to a mental‑health professional or someone they trust. You don’t have to navigate heavy feelings alone, real human support matters.
