Best 5x5 Led 2025

BH

Tha Dank Hoarder
Dun dun dun let’s get to the bad news well my 650r is dead ( 1 of em and newest too) and to aid to bad news the warrenty is outdated. Ugggh sucks . After harvest plan is Gonnea play around with dead one and see if something is fixable. I realize it could be ballast but ballast alone is 200 bucks and if it’s not that that’s a good portion for future led…

so my thoughts are, for a true 5x5 would u go hlg or medicled or even mammoth led’s (love to hear what others say) . Goal of what I need for 5s5 led flower led is I wanna spend at most 500-1k usd bucks (if above explain why worthy) and get 700-900 watts . Love to hear some views and advice , I got whole season till fall-early winter to decide and buy at best discounted %. Like for it to have built in dimmer, 5 year warrenty , company brand needs credit to be decent, ir/uva bars included (if cost is to much oh well)

Medicled spectrum x Own this led, man I love it. Got spectrum adjustment , built in uva/ir bars and since that part fails 1/4 quicker than other leds they made it easily replaced. this model def can do a 5x5 np. last week at discount it was 560 out the door. Gonnea wait for deal to come back after finalize .

Vs
Mammoth led
But this light def hits me in a new interest , lil more costly and does not have some of the stuff medicled model has. But the core led’s and how many there are per bar and also spectrum seems very interesting and I think might be def one badass led

The GML 5x5 tent ultimate is the best PPFD coverage you can get. I'd have to look at the wattage on it though
No way I’m a fanboy for any brand, don’t get me wrong. I’m just trying to pick a new led and I’ve used many brands and tech. this is actually first one ever died and I got some 65 watt hlg that are like v1 and they work still amazing

But is really gml the best? He couldn’t even get his controller to work and man his ego. Sure it’s a def nice led but man there’s a lot of good led’s out there. just because gml says that doesn’t mean it’s best in price and chips for value. Thanks for suggestion none the less! love to hear on why u choose it when u get a chance. Love to hear a 2nd view and information on such ( made a thread for it )

For a 10 bar 1000w, 2850 PPFD with deep/far red given the PAR map coverage tested in a 5x5 tent, it's a good deal in my opinion.

Considering it's made with the Samsung LM301H and LEDESTAR diodes and it comes with a 5 year warranty, there's a lot to like. I'm not as familiar with the Sosen driver, but I know a few people using the 4x4 and they straight love it....

Edit: It's the 4x4 that's $800, the 5x5 is $1,200 so sorry for the original post....

Tarantula Tent Ultimate - Grand Master LEDs
after looking at their more updated models and I agree with u, their stuff is def good and they are using prime chips/ballasts. whole tech and many brands really boosting it into lightspeed

Thanks bro, you wrote this out in a great and full manner to explain why u picked that led. Since I have high ceilings and that’s not a limit do u have a diff model for non tents by gml? Since 30-50% of my leds are 24 inches + above canopy height isn’t my issue vs many where they are limited to 7-8ft or lower , my max is 10ft on ceiling .

I would love his best model but I can’t buy a 2k led, I bought a few yesrs ago from fluence 4 spydrx plus x and they were close to 2k each (sold all after 3 cycles for 500 each) and man for same cost of current decent leds I could do my whole room and than some for same cost.i am no cheap ass but there’s a lot to choose and I’m grateful it’s getting this way vs such costly led’s even 5 years Ago.

My main tech is cob vero 29’s ( timber ) , and hlg qb’s with one spectrum x (medic led , stripes ). since the dead was next to medic led it’s distance is more like 8-18 inches from canopy np. Shoot I had my tallest plants 6-8 inches with max co2 and they didn’t burn ( granted pheno selected)

For cost and description would u recommend?

1,200 but man very nice led

The reason I'm a bit sold on GML is because I spent about 45 minutes at their booth at MJBizcon in December and got quite educated on various lighting options. In their own words, their best value in LED is the Borg EVO at $1,300 which is extremely similar to the $2,000 Borg original.

Tarantula Borg Evolution- Grand Master LEDs

Again, 10 bars but with 1500w 4 channels and 60 spectrums to choose from. If you like to tinker and play with your LED's lighting spectrums and effects it's a great choice, but if you just want a light to do veg/flower it would be hard to beat a light that does both MH/HPS spectrums like the Torch 850.

The Borg Evo uses a nice mix of Samsung LM301H, Osram and LEDESTAR diodes, so it can get a lot of spectrum out of the light.

Fohse and Fluence also had solid stuff, but you start pissing on each other when you get into the top range of LED's right now. There's a difference between us home growers and the investors plopping tons of cash down.

GML usually has some sort of 10% or 20% coupon discount code, so that comes into play as well.

Thank you for the amazing & well explained on why you choose gml and the reasons why and also model suggestions. appreciate it 110% and if the timing of his sales occurs I def might get one , love comparing and getting all nerded out before buying something . I was almost about to buy another led asap but being i was already at week 7 and there’s many led’s around it I rather just wait. be a bitch to take down and also reinstall a new one too being plants are so close lol 😝

If you ever see coupon please post it in the gml led section on ph please and thanks ( I subscribed on their website if that’s the key)

If you lived within driving distance, I would let you use my brand new Tarantula Vulcan Nitro that's sitting in my storage unit. I bought it right before my mom passed away and I never got a chance to use it before I moved to New Mexico to help out my dad. I've offered it to others, but the shipping costs are ridiculous and makes it not worthwhile....

Seems like a win, win to me. I would be proud to own either one and both should serve you very well. I was surprised how far led tech has come along. My cob setup seems obsolete already. I think both of these lights have impressive features.

man the tech is amazing now no doubt about it but Those vero29’s still rock it’s just the weight (ones like timber ), very penetrating and if an individual led fails it’s easy to replace. Had one vero29 fail cause when I lowered the led the led ran into the bamboo and I could smell it burning before failed within a minute, Dan at timber sent me the cob np and I got it installed so easily . tbh for being over 5 years used they seem to hold their effectiveness too and their big heatsink is nice. do I love vero 29 timber, yes. But I I def would pick these newer choices fosure

For timber cobs I even tried 3000k, 1750k , 3500k cob’s in my setups and the 1750k spectrum ones if u pit 1 in ur 4x4 u would def see a boost of crystals with ethier 3500/3k.

Everybody whatcha views on these green added now aka “ Emerald Green diodes“ ? seems interesting on claims but I would love to grow multi of same clone under dif led’s like I do vs that green spectrum and see if it changes plants end results.

It's funny bro I didn't know you rocked the timbers! Yeah I've had the 4vl for like 6 years and the 2vl for like 4 years. I dropped a carbon filter on the 4vl one time and damaged the cobs. As you know Timber had world class customer service and Dan fixed it for me for just the cost to ship the unit there. Both units still perform flawlessy and are very efficient. I also have 2 250w lm301h units I bought off ebay. I prefer the Timbers. I might splurge one day and get one of these newer units. I appreciate the thread and you posting some cool leds.

Tbh if timber was still around I would buy prolly more of those cob’s, I even love how sturdy they are and u can literally use them as a support when plants alive to be self supportive to when drying drying whole plants witha wire on em np. I was buying em when they still had those plastic reflectors and it’s funny when Dan said to remove em, the plastic was literally semi burnt from so much ppfd lol, didn’t seem to hurt em but glad he told me. I emailed Dan’s new company on what’s their status of new stuff but no response…

I even own 2 of the 900 watt versions and they are like 50 lb’s, def heavy and large, 2 660’s once I got 330 versions I knew for a one person crew I could see bonus of having 3 330’s vs 1 900 , way easier to install and even lift /adjust on a ladder. That’s one thing timber did amazing is building em like tanks

Wow 1200 watts for that price, I do say medicled and other brands cause of new tech and even weight makes me want that lol

+

I’m so taking my dead 650r down ( once plants are out) and than playing around with her to see if obvious issues and talk with hlg, the ballast is suppose to be 5 years? if they still think even not warrenty it’s the ballast for 140 for ballast I might just buy that after confirm form them and that’s def a bonus

I was very surprised to find out Timber went out of business. They were a world class company for customer service. Maybe to a fault? Yeah I bought my fixtures around 2018ish and they still had those plastic reflectors. Mine burned and had to be replaced. Honestly I think my unit was the one why Dan said to remove them. Like you said build quality is insane. I have the 4vl and the 2vl and both are tanks and still working great. Have probably 8 runs on the 4vl and 5 on the 2vl. I have 2 samsung board led units @ 250w each as well.
What have you noticed different between cobs and boards? Been meaning to ask you. I only ran the quantum boards 2 runs and could not get them lined out in my environment. I prefer the cobs but the boards on paper should be better.
What is Dan's new company? Will have to take a look. That is a chill dude.

1.What have you noticed different between cobs and boards? =
the cobs as long as ur willing to add more per sqft even if less watts being used is better like qb's, they penetrate well and also if one fails i can def fix it DIY. the qb's are nice for price and compared to stripes a little more distance than stripes or cobs so for head distance and spraying i like that b 24 inch+ vs 12-18 inches in cobs/stripes. love how light the qb's are but tbh i would perfer them to put more heatsink for defaults cause i think if they trialed tehy would figure out prolly less chances of failures and damage in time.both work and prices these days makes it hard not to choose cheaper if proven good chip exp being the chips over time degrade. I'm all about good costumer support also and its great now vs even a few years ago the good brands u def can without paying crazy

2. u asked dan's new led brand, they did have QB versions and now i see no models? i emailed them and no response? maybe they are trialing stuff. hope best for dan

Same with Tasty. Never heard any complaints about them, I still have a few.
I could never justify the cost of Timber. I bought my Tasty's back when you could still make good scratch growing. Probably just as spendy as Timbers.
Heavy as heck but tanks. I have a couple of the US handmade ones and a couple of the Chinese ones he had made before he went under.
I'm pretty much positive the cobs themselves will be the first thing to fail, after a certain amount of hours it's inevitable. If not the output will maybe be diminished greatly.

All that said, I haven't splurged on any of the bar style cobs. Been buying the boards lately based on affordability.

But it's great to read this thread just to know what's what! Thanks guys.
