Bullfrog's Grow Pad

Free labor, come on!

I laugh at these box store chippers, they just make you want a chipper.
Woodland makes a nice bandmill, the quality is there.
At work we had this huge industrial track-mounted mulcher thing for a while. It was almost scary. It would drive straight though a big brush pile and leave only chips behind. IIRC, it had a sign warning to stay at least 400 ft away due to flying debris.

I love being a help to people. If you were a neighbor, I'd be all over it.

Yup, my mother almost bough an el cheapo from HD, I talked her out of it by telling her she'd be the one using it cause I wasn't about to fight that cheap pos. I'm sure they sell of lot of those rinky dink machines.

Some of the machines that are built in this age are awe inspiring. Machines that can take an entire forest down all while sitting in a comfy chair, freaking boring machines that make tunnels through the earth. Just amazing, goes to show where there's a will there's a way.

Got a pop up ad for Woodland chippers yesterday.
I need one to run off my steer, trying to sell my tractor, not sure it has enough ass to power that?

I still can't get over how far they go to try and sell us things. Spying 24/7 seems a step too far imo.

Seems like the WC88 was made for my 70hp White, she's an old girl but strong. Just for fun, I threw a 6in dry poplar log in and it didn't even flinch. They do have smaller models for smaller tractors. The model I got is rated for minimum 30hp, 60hp to chip 8-inch logs.

I also found one that looked nice and it was significantly cheaper, but it used the tractor hydraulics for the infeed roller. Mine are being used for the loader bucket so I wanted one with its own reservoir and pump. Can't remember which brand or model it was now, damn weed :D

I have one in the barn right now locked up tighter than a drum. Small sticks fuck that piece of shit up

I think I need the 8” model too, my tractor is 26 hp, no loader.
It’s a great garden tractor, diesel, turn on a dime, but doubt I’d be happy?
I don’t plow or disc, if I need to, steer has a tiller. No more shooting across the yard when the rear tine tiller sees a rock. Lots of rocks!
My memory is intermittent as well.

You’re not going to be able to do 8”logs with your tractor. Woodland mills says you need min 60hp at the pto to do 8 in logs. Their wc46 would be perfect for your tractor, it would tear through anything 4in or less. That's probably the max your tractor can do without beating the hell out of it. They even have a twin flywheel model that would be like a Cadillac.

I rented one of those big commercial ones a couple time for 4 hours and it went well. I don't drive though, and finding someone with the time during business hours in the middle of the week isn't feasible. Plus, it makes me hurry to try and get as much as possible done. Not really the best thing to be doing around that machine.

Got just over 2 hours on the chipper today, was surprised the pile of brush that disappeared. I think it was faster than the commercial chipper I rented. Took the pile of chips and made a path to my swamp beds that needed to be raised higher out of the muck. Was able to run a wheel barrow to them. Carried buckets of dirt through the muck the first time. No way was I doing that again. Didn’t get as many photos as I wanted, got late. Another time. Lots to share.

I wouldn’t even consider one for the tractor, as you pointed out, way underpowered.

On the other hand, the steer is turbo 74 hp, she’ll carry the mail!
I’ve looked at the self contained commercial chippers at auctions, but I don’t want another motor to keep running when they sit so much.

A Skid Steer? That's originally what I wanted not a tractor, but I couldn't find one in my price range that was running. That was what I ran when I was landscaping, way superior to a tractor for doing the work I'm doing. But the White gets it done just not as fast or efficient.
