Hype Strains Worth The Hype

Agree on the GMO. One of my faves, dank AF, always a heavy hitter. I haven't tried Perm Marker yet but i need to on principle alone, my profile pic was done with Sharpies

For me personally: PEANUT BUTTER BREATH
. this has been a big favorite of mine for the last 5+ years. Another super heavy hitter, leaves a lasting taste, super unique overall smell and flavor.
Chernobyl/Slymer: the lime in this is just unmistakable. I've read things like "lime heaven" and "electric lime slurpee terps", I've personally said repeatedly "cucumber lime tennis balls", and guess what? --All of us are correct! Very few plants get so frosty.

Say what you will, but the hype for Z-terps is VERY VERY real especially concentrates, OMFG if you get a top tier rosin that was made with a good Zkittlez cross, that's a one-way ticket to Flavor Town & Guy Fieri is waiting for you with open arms

I dont believe any hype, i just get hyped to grow and let the girls do the talking while they grow. The hype maybe justified but ive also had seeds handed to me to grow knowing nothing and then being very happy at the end. Great idea for a post by the way.

In my pack of Blooze Travelers all of my plants leaned heavy into the BBHP genetics except for one which carried the PBB traits. That PBB leaning BT pheno has been my favorite jar of 2024.

I try to stay away from chasing hype because by the time I get the seeds, find my keeper, and run a cut of my keeper to harvest the hype wagon has moved onto another strain.
Also, I don't grow to have the same stuff as everyone else. I grow to have the stuff no one has heard.

I also don't really give a fuck about hype strains. MAC, PBB, GMO, Dosidos, and most GSC-based crosses all hit roughly the same for me, with much more residual anxiety than I'd like. Give me Hazes or NL/G13 crosses all day. Preferably crossed.
I get hyped for unique or rare genetics, like old heirlooms or things like '79 Xmas Tree Bud. Get me some seeds that are from a country that doesn't exist anymore in a region that's been destroyed by climate change grown by a culture that's been wiped out and I'll be hyped.

I was at the Michigan high times cannabis cup (2014). We were slinging rooted cuts for 500 each. Other booths had spider mites infested plants for 300.
They all have flaws.
Now are they worth growing for the hype??

That GG4 took up 80% of my flower room space for 7yrs or so. Then darlins net (dans buds (RIP) (icmag) personal pheno) took its place.
Lots of ppl say their GG4 hermied. I've never seen a nanner on any plant.

I do love me some gg4. I have never run into the herm issue I always hear about. I did have one gg4 cross herm on me, but that was a freebie so I took it with a grain of salt.
If you would have asked me in 2014 about gg4 I would have said I was burnt out on it. But now I have come back around to it.
I think that was always my hesitation with all the White Truffle/Gorilla Butter hype/infamy. It was a solid plant and people were doing cool things working it into their lines, but a lot of times I thought it would have been cooler if they would have used gg4 instead.
This is why I stay away from the cut game. Never can bring myself to pay top $$$$ for a cut when I have seeds in the safe to hunt through.
