Hello great people! How are we doing on this blessed Friday? I just started a new grow. 4 fem plants in my Gorilla 3x3. I want to use a scrog net this grow and plan to top the plants for multiple colas as opposed to 1 donkey dick and other smaller colas. Can you fine people remind me what node to top for maximum bushyness. 5th and 7th correct? Thanks and have a blessed day!!

It really depends on the strain. What are you running?
 
I start after 4th node, then proceed weekly depending on strain and speed of growth. It's hard when you have never grown strain before, but after , easy because you know the plant. You are netting so no big deal if you have a unusual stretcher. I normally do 3 tops for sativa's and 2 for indica dom plants that I haven't grown, then see how they stretch in flower and adjust next round with the clones from originals. Your growing frims stuff so it will be moderate in terms of stretch on most of his stuff, the punch mittens and some of the starry eyed phenos of his are stretchers though and a amazing cultivars if ya ever get your hands on some. No diss here but a pheno and strain like everything is pre programmed, yes u can improve based on enviromental and training and nutes and all that but the limits of making a small producer or tall or short is pre programmed to a degree. So key is finding a pheno that does work for ur tech and also bud desires . just saying as A example u can’t turn mac1 into a fast growing veg plant and large buds plant or making a 100 day bloom sativa into a 6 week finish ? a way I try To eliminate obvious walls that can’t be beat if I have a profile or growing needs is look at the parents and get a good ground if the strains have info on their growth and how the buds look like normally . for me I also noitce exp when running seeds fo even expect to run em 2 times min in Same enviroment before you’ll see a best of it and also know what she likes and doesn’t. From ppfd to how much moisture in medium to even how many tops makes the plant worthy , some can take unlimited topting and they produce semi same size buds and won’t have issues where some u do this too much and the buds def become degraded and too much resources for pant to keep ‘em as mature or worse to even trim.

its a hard answer to give till you know the pheno and when u see seed packs saying cemented stuff I honestly say think of that as a previous past or suggestion vs facts ( clone it could if clone seller/grower grows it multi times )

Hey brother that is an awesome reply. I think I might be coming to a point with my growing where I want to focus more on certain strains like you said. Might even try a Chuck or 2. I have some fire genetics from the forum in my collection now so it would make sense to know them and try to get the most out of their genetic potential. Up until now I just pick any random 4 fems from my collection and run them and see what happens. I like strain variety to smoke on that's why I do it this way. I like to have a sativa and indica and hybrid on the shelf at all times. Anyways thanks for taking the time to reply.

When I first saw the thread title, I thought good gosh how long has it been since there was an opportunity to trot out the long ago picture of Demi Moore's rampant undergrowth ? The pic that Daniel Tosh said looked like she had Buckwheat in a head lock and it really did too :D And then I thought y'know I'm sure it's out there but I just don't feel like going to the trouble lol.

Here's a couple pics of the way I main line plants occasionally. I've always had great success doing it this way. It's a lot of training and planning but worth it in the end. Be prepared for a much longer veg time so choose a pheno that you really think is worth it. You'll have zero larf.

I always top the 5th or 6th node to start. I wait for atleast 3 new nodes on each new top branch before topping again. I would also keep the inside cleaned up. I would just follow this idea until I had all the tops I wanted. Give it a shot. Worst case, you learn a ton on how to improve it for next time. Good luck!! 1000000826.png1000000825.png

Absolutely might try this. Nothing but chunky top colas. Appreciate the detailed answer. Was wondering how many nodes other wait after topping to top again. Thanks.
